I can finally post this, after weeks!
But yeah, this here is something I made to celebrate the 9th anniversary of Evoland 2
Some people may remember this work in progress from weeks ago, but now I can finally show the finished product. Which I finished 2 weeks ago
It’s based on the 3D picture you get when you finish the game, specially the 100% completion, and more specifically, my screenshot that I took when I first completed the game and got 100%
Though I should probably also note that this was the only picture I had of the beach scene until I was mostly done with the picture, so there are some inaccuracies between it and the original. Except for Reno in place of the Prophet, that was completely intentional
This game was I think the first (and will probably be the only) game I’ve ever 100% completed, and when I did it the first time, it was just because I knew that games would have extra things for those who 100% it, and I wanted to see what the game would give me. It’s the only time I was so invested in a game that I had to know what I’d get if I got everything. It’s also the only game where losing nearly 10 hours of progress due to a (maybe) glitch does not make me give up the game in frustration, but instead complete the entire thing within a single school week
I may gripe about my issues with the game, but I absolutely love it, and I have a lot of fun playing it. Well, aside from the parts I’m bad at, but that’s just because I’m bad at them. I feel like I have next to nothing to complain about from a gameplay perspective (which is in part because I don’t know how to critique gameplay, but also because I think any issues I have are my own fault), it’s just narrative stuff. And even then, I wouldn’t nitpick it so much if I wasn’t so invested in the world, story and characters
Maybe today I’ll start replaying it again, seeing how I’m pretty sure I’m free today from any schoolwork
I’m still holding on to some admittedly delusional hope that a 3rd game could release one day, even if I know it’ll almost certainly have nothing to do with this one, but even if it never does, I’ll still have this game to play over and over again, so I can accept it
I was disappointed that I missed the last two, since I first played the game in 2022, but not this year, I remembered!
Now to just talk about the art itself, the reason there’s two versions is because I originally made the background lineless, but after finishing the characters I thought it maybe clashed a bit too much, so I made a duplicate of the picture to do a lined version. But I also spent so long on the lineless version that I didn’t want to just leave it in the void, so I’m showing it too
Admittedly now I think I can say the lined version probably is the better one, but I can still show off both
I used the card colors for the characters, since all of them have cards for reference, but now I’m looking at the colors and thinking they look somewhat wrong. At least on Menos
Also as mentioned prior, I switched out the Prophet for Reno. I know I’m biased but I really think he’d fit in this picture of all the main characters far more than the Prophet, considering he’s kind of the reason the plot started, the second half happened, and he’s the main motivation for one of our party members. I mean, I see why the Prophet’s there in the original. He’s really the only other semi-important character with a 3D model, and Reno never had one, so they’d have to make an entirely new one just for this extra thing. Also it doesn’t make sense for him to have a 3D model in the first place, especially not of his Present era self. But not only is this now a drawing where I have the power to do what I want, this scene isn’t canon in the first place, so put Reno in the background there!
Overall though, I’m honestly surprised the piece turned out as good as it did. Those who follow me know that I was really struggling with drawing during the summer, more specifically drawing people and the Evoland 2 cast. But despite all that, I think the characters turned out pretty well. Certainly not the best, but better than I was expecting. And not only that, but the background turned out so much better than I thought it would, especially since I don’t usually do backgrounds. Though I suppose it does help to have a reference for all this though. But yeah, there was a reason I was so proud of how the sketch turned out, and while the final product may not have entirely been what I was hoping for after the sketch, it still turned out pretty good
As long as I can remember it next year (which I really hope I can, considering that’s the 10th anniversary), I’ll try to make something there too, hopefully with much improved drawing skills, since I’m still trying to figure all that out again still
Not sure what I’ll draw then. Maybe I could redraw the beach scene, or make an entirely new beach scene concocted by my brain. But it’s also the 10th anniversary next year, so maybe it should be something more special
Ah well, that’s next year’s problem. For now, have this to celebrate the game’s anniversary. For the minuscule amount of people who actually play this game, I guess
#I’ve slightly started to doubt if today is the actual anniversary#that’s what Google tells me the original release date was#but if I’m wrong I will never know peace#probably the incorrect phrase but I can’t figure out what it’s supposed to be otherwise#but yeah Evoland 2 anniversary#for all 5 of us who care#evoland 2#my art#anniversary art#evoland kuro#evoland fina#evoland menos#evoland velvet#evoland ceres#evoland reno

Five Times (part one: 1-3)
(18+ only)
summary: A stressful day at work leads to Eddie promising to make you cum over and over until your head is empty.
wordcount: 4.7k
tags/warnings: fem!sub!reader, dom!Eddie, established relationship, smut, dumbification, degradation, praise kink, choking, spitting in mouth, hair pulling, biting, squirting, overstim, dacryphilia, fingering (fem receiving), oral (fem receiving), he’s kinda mean in this but like in a you want him to be a lil mean to you way not like he’s an actual asshole way
a/n: listen. i’ve had a very stressful year and the idea of just being allowed to be dumb and not have to worry about anything is very appealing. part 2 with more smut to come...
Today marked the one month anniversary since your (well deserved) promotion. You could finally say with confidence that your career was more than just taking notes and getting coffee for those in higher up positions. Still, this growth came with hard work, late nights, stress, and snide remarks from the men at the office who chalked your success up to low cut shirts worn around the boss. Which is ridiculous cause you’re not even sure that man had ever seen your clavicle, much less any cleavage.
Thankfully, this stress subsided by your wonderful relationship. Although Eddie loved and respected you, he knew that sometimes the responsibilities of adult life weighed on you like a million tons. He genuinely thought you were one of the smartest and most impressive people he’s ever met, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t give you what you needed. And what you needed was an escape from the overthinking and worrying- permission to turn your brain off and give yourself over to pleasure.
There was a tell you subconsciously gave when your psyche craved that escape: when you pass through the entranceway of your shared home and Eddie comes to welcome you at the door, instead of greeting him with a smile and hug, you simply keep your arms limp at your sides as you collapse into him and bury your face in his neck.
That’s precisely how your arrival happened this evening, and Eddie wasted no time in wrapping his arms around you as he tenderly kissed your temple and led you to the bedroom. Along the way, he spoke no words as he helped you strip yourself of the restricting uniform of your day to day life. Heels are abandoned at the front door, a few feet from them a discarded blazer, then a little farther down the hallway was a crumpled pile of nylon that was once stockings.
Now inside the room, Eddie sat you down on the edge of the mattress as his nimble fingers undid the buttons of your blouse and unhooked your slightly-too-tight underwire bra. Once your top half was completely bare, you laid back and lifted your hips up so that he could slide your skirt and panties down your legs in one quick motion.
As you settled into bed and got comfortable, Eddie tossed the worn clothes to the side and looked down at you with dark eyes. After flashing a crooked grin, he climbed onto the bed and rested on his knees. Kneeling before you, he starts laughing quietly.
“Well, well, well,” he whispered, mostly to himself. “Look at this pretty little prize I have all to myself.”
He didn’t permit any talking yet, so you remain silent. Instead, you laid there in anticipation while waiting impatiently for his next move. His calloused fingers leave goosebumps in their wake as he trails them from your belly button to your waist. When they reach the end of their journey, his hands suddenly grip with determination as he moves you how he pleases. Your body is pliant and powerless while he arranges you the way he needs you to be, something that he is glaringly proud about.
“You’re tired of pretending, aren’t you? Pretending you’re not my mindless little doll?” he murmurs with a smirk, and your thighs instinctively twitch to shut from the wave of arousal his tone sends through you. “Well, I doubt I could fuck the stupid out of you, but I can try.”
His assured, unwavering certainty was soul shattering. What once was hesitant enthusiasm is now teetering on full blown alarm when memories flood your brain of your doting boyfriend nearly bruising your pelvis from the valor he exhibited in washing away your bad days with orgasms. That turning in your stomach only heightened your senses, pulling feeble whimpers out of you with embarrassingly minimal contact.
“My pretty girl,” he tutted with a mischievous lilt. “Need me to turn that brain off, huh? How about you let me play with you?”
You nod in response as the butterflies in your stomach turn violent and almost make you feel sick. Finally, all thoughts of whether or not paperwork was filled out correctly and filed in the right places are gone, and the only thing you can think of is Eddie’s burning hot touch on your skin.
“Wha’sa matter? Can’t use your big girl words?” he asks, slurring a bit as the lust clouds his senses. “That’s alright, I’ll do all the talking. Just focus on turning off that brain,” his voice is now growing low and raspy, and you feel his fingers twitching on your waist as he resists the itch to touch you. “That’s what you’re best at, isn’t it? Being my sweet, dumb girl. The only thing you’re good at is being a drooly little mess for me.”
What he’s saying should be demeaning, but it only makes you more turned on. His grip loosens as his fingernails scratch their way down toward your center. When he reaches your mound, just above your slickened lips, he slows down. Obviously, he wants to make you desperate enough that he can watch you squirm.
“Nnngh,” you whine, exasperated. “Eddie, please…”
“Needy fucking slut,” he chastises, but his eyes reveal more amusement than authority. He has to hold back the huff of laughter that threatens its way up his throat as he continues. “You’re gonna wait like the good girl I know you are. You wanna know how I know?”
Your eyebrows pinch together as you try to not cry from the frustration, and you make a small humming noise while shrugging your shoulders.
“Because,” he starts as his fingers finally make contact with your aching cunt. They slide easily along your folds, causing a choked gasp in reaction from you. “Only good girls have wet pussies like this. That’s my proof- good girls have wet, dripping pussies. And you’re always dripping for me, aren’t you, princess?”
“Mhm,” you agree as your legs open wider. The amount of concentration it takes to not buck your hips into his touch is overwhelming, but you manage to bear it. “Oh, please Eds. Need it so bad.”
“I know you do, sweetheart,” he cooed patronizingly, leaving one short peck between your furrowed brows. “But do you deserve it?”
Your toes are starting to cramp by the force they’re curling in with. “I- I think I-“
“You don’t think, you obey,” he corrects sternly, cutting off your stuttering. “You’re a brainless toy for me to use, don’t you know that?”
“Yes, yes I know,” you moan while nodding your head harder, hoping that your compliance will make him want to speed up his process.
Your plan succeeds, but not as much as you’d ideally hope. Eddie’s curious touches migrate from skimming up and down your slit to rubbing at the very top, effectively granting your clit just enough pressure to have you wanting more. A few stray tears fall from their ducts out of relief, and velvet soft lips wipe the moisture away before you even detected it. The rough pad of his middle finger glides smoothly around the bud thanks to your wetness- pushing it up, down, and side to side with ease. His other hand is pressed flat against the inside of your thigh, both holding your legs open and occasionally caressing comfortingly.
“This cute little button needed some attention, did it? Are you happy now? Done being a whiny fucking brat?” he asks, chuckling mockingly. You’re writhing and sighing, almost too distracted to respond, but you do manage to nod your head. Eddie’s not satisfied with your wordless answer.
“Getting dumber already?” he goes on to add, and his hand freezes between your legs. “I asked you a question, silly girl.” Though trying to portray total control, you can tell he’s suppressing a smile.
“Y- yes!” you supply shakily, your stutter making your panic apparent. “I’m s- sorry. I’m done being a br- brat.”
Eddie tsks three times, as if scolding a pet. The implication of that has you shuddering once again. His hand continues its ministrations. “And what do we say, hmm?”
“Thank you!” you gasp out as his pressure and speed both increase. “Oh, thank you.” Your calves tremble, despite how still you’re trying to keep them.
“God, look how messy this little hole is for me. She’s fucking begging for my fingers. I think she’s gonna cum real fast, how ‘bout you?” he asks, his eyes glazing over as he languidly strokes your sensitive clit. “Stay still now, baby.”
But it’s impossible to not squirm as Eddie pinches and rolls the nub between his fingers. He’s ruthless and tooth-rottingly sweet all at once. You wriggle in his hold, your muscles jerking of their own accord, rutting your hips into his expert touch. Weight pushes you deeper into the mattress, forcing you to still- per his previous instructions.
“I know, princess, I know,” he comforts. “It’s hard to follow orders when your brain is so empty. Just keep those pretty eyes on me. You can at least do that, can’t you?”
You fight to not let your heavy eyelids flutter shut. It’s a struggle, but Eddie’s eyes being laser focused on yours makes it slightly easier. As he continues rubbing your clit so perfectly, his other hand moves to cradle your jaw. His thick thumb frees your bottom lip from where it was trapped between your teeth, and breaks the barrier into your more than willing mouth. He presses down on your tongue, just far back enough to slightly trigger your gag reflex but careful to not cause too much discomfort. Then his hand retreats, breaking the trance that had you fixated on his hypnotic gaze.
You whimper a weak protest as your tongue extends over your chin and attempts to follow his fingers. This effort brings your head a couple inches off the pillow, only to have it slammed back down when he unexpectedly grabs your throat. The cool metal of his rings are a stark contrast to your heated skin. With his palm now pushing into your windpipe, you let out a puff of air in shock and wrap your hands around his wrists.
“What’s wrong, baby? Can’t breathe?” he asks, but the way he says it suggests that he doesn’t actually care. He’s clearly enjoying the way you’re currently clawing at his forearm.
You try to plead for mercy, but can’t find the power to form a sentence beyond weak gasps for air. All you can do is try to blink away the blur in your vision as your head gets hazier and hazier.
He responds with a merciless laugh, then loosens his grip just enough to allow oxygen to enter your lungs once more before leaning forward and spitting into your still open mouth without warning. The force of it hits your tongue and causes his spit to splatter onto the roof of your mouth. You can’t help the volume of the broken moan that involuntarily leaves you. You also can’t help the way your hips buck up- making his fingers slip from your clit, which only turns your satisfied groan into a distressed whine.
“Poor thing,” he hums while putting on a faux-sympathetic pout, his lower lip jutting out sarcastically and his eyebrows upturning.
He leans down to gently kiss your cheek, so light and quick that you barely even feel it. All you can focus on is his weight on top of you, chest pressed to yours with his arm wedged in between so that he can continue lazily toying with your clit, much to your relief. Eddie’s nose trails along your cheekbone until his hot, humid breath is tickling your ear. Lips move against your earlobe as he whispers his next words.
“Do you even realize how fucking pathetic you look right now?” he asks. “You probably don’t care though. Too much of a desperate fucking slut. Say it.”
“I’m a desperate slut,” you immediately comply.
The hand being used to lightly choke you breaks contact for a moment, only long enough for Eddie to push himself up onto his knees, before returning to its place on your neck. From there, he can comfortably look down at you while he continues to squeeze your neck and bring you closer to orgasm.
He grins at you like he’s proud, eyes wet and sentimental. It almost sounds loving the way he says, “That’s right. My desperate slut.”
Everything’s gone fuzzy. Any outside stimulant other than the man on top of you can’t reach your senses. It was like the two of you were covered in a heavy blanket, instead of being in the cool open air of your shared bedroom. The rest of the world felt so distant- a million miles away- that you couldn’t even remember any of the stresses that were previously bothering you. The pressure Eddie is applying to your throat isn’t tight enough to drastically affect your airflow anymore, so he and you both know that this is just the natural effect he has on you.
“Are you there so soon? I’ve already rubbed your mind away?” He sounds almost disappointed as he shakes his head disapprovingly. “We just started. Why do you have to be such a greedy whore?”
You know he’s just playing into his role. You know he doesn’t really mean it, and that he’s only trying to help ease you more into the headspace you crave so badly. But still, you feel the overwhelming urge to do whatever it takes for him to call you a good girl.
“I’m sorry. I can hold it,” you try to assure, without being entirely sure that it’s the truth. The tightness in your stomach is growing at an alarming rate.
“Don’t bother,” he tells you, sarcastically exaggerating a bored sigh. “What, you didn’t think I was gonna let you off that easy, did you? Surely even you aren’t that dumb.” His face leans dangerously close to yours as he emphasizes that last ‘you’, and his voice turns low and threatening. “I’m gonna make you cum a minimum of five times tonight, might as well get one over with now.”
And with that guarantee, you feel the dam break. He never even got around to fingering you, but you had a suspicion that that was next on the list. Rough kneading at your breast and lips once again attaching themself to your pulse point is what tipped you off that he had finally released your throat. Your head was thrown back- giving his mouth easy access- and your knees bent as your thighs squeezed together tight, trapping him there. Though, the quiet sound of your breathy moans and beauty of your scrunched up face made him want to stay there forever, so he personally wouldn’t describe it as ‘trapped’.
“Good girl,” he growls, sounding crazed and cruel. “Look so cute like this. Sound so cute too. Like a fucking pathetic slut.”
His left hand began pinching at your nipples while the right’s movement on your clit remained throughout the duration of your climax, not ending until teary begging for him to stop alerted him to your overstimulation. He decided to allow you a moment to breathe, but only briefly. As your chest rises and deflates rapidly, your earlier suspicion proved true. Eddie’s vow of at least five orgasms was no empty promise, it was an oath. His middle finger slid eagerly down your puffy lips until reaching your entrance, where you promptly stopped him.
“Eddie, wait!” you exclaim, pushing his still determined hands away and attempting to cover your mound with your own. “I can’t cum again so soon!”
He outright scoffs at that, finally tearing his attention away from the area you’re pointlessly failing to defend to stare at you incredulously. “Now princess, we both know that’s not true. Who are you trying to fool?”
To an outsider this might seem mean, but you know that one utterance of your safeword would have Eddie’s dominance melting away in an instant. Truthfully, his dedication to ruin you with a second orgasm so closely followed by the first only excited you more- something that is no secret to him. You were still nervous about what he was going to do to you though, and this was made apparent from the way you crossed one ankle over the other- effectively shielding yourself from his touch.
“Aw, is someone shy?” he asked, feigning sympathy. You nod, but it’s ineffective at changing his mind. “I don’t care. Spread your legs.”
You didn’t set out to follow his order so willingly. His brash way of speaking had your body moving without any input from your brain, shifting each ankle to opposite sides of the mattress and baring yourself to him unabashedly despite your inner modesty.
“You’re mean,” you complained with an exaggerated frown, downplaying the rush of wanting that soared through you.
“Yeah?” he snickered as his hand returned to its spot between your legs, coating the slick from your previous orgasm on his fingers before forcing them deep inside you all at once. “Well you’re wet.”
Without warning, the two middle fingers of his right hand bury themselves to the hilt before curling upward, expertly finding their favorite spot inside you within seconds. The small band on his ring finger pushed past the threshold of your opening, entering into you. It was insultingly obvious the way you could differentiate the cool, smooth metal from his warm, rough skin. You could even feel the ridge where bare skin now became shielded by silver jewelry. That bump and the sensations it caused on your sensitive inner walls were so addicting. The intensity was almost too much to brave, but after all this time you trusted Eddie to know your limits even better than you did.
His free hand finds purchase on your waist, holding firmly as if to silently instruct you to stay still. Whispered curses slip through your gritted teeth, and they only slightly assist you in enduring the direct targeting of your g-spot. While you couldn’t see his expression, you had a feeling the sight of you wiping away the water pooling at your eyes was only stirring Eddie more.
“Keep crying,” he says, trying to sound intimidating but unable to keep the fondness out of his voice. “Not that it’ll get you anywhere, but you look real pretty crying under me.”
“Please, please I wanna-“ you start, only to be interrupted by your own abrupt gasp when he begins moving. He’s pumping in and out of you at a pace that- while not slow- he’s well aware won’t be enough.
“Christ, do you hear yourself? ‘P-p-p-please,” he mocks, mimicking your expression. His condescending tone lacked any compassion, despite the grin that betrayed his features afterwards.
“Please, Eddie,” you try again, hoping that he’ll hear your overwhelming lust and take pity. “I wanna cum on your cock.”
“Oh? What happened to ‘I can’t cum again’, hm?” he asks. He does seem to feel a little sorry for his teasing, however, seeing as he hastens to what he’s discovered in the past to be the perfect tempo for you. “You’ll get my cock when I say you can have my cock and you’ll be grateful.”
All you’re able to do is nod in agreement, being far too weakened to fight back anymore. Eddie’s perfect aim has his fingers finding your g-spot with each forward lunge of his arm, and it’s barreling you toward another orgasm far too quickly. The muscles in your neck move involuntarily, and you steal one last glance at your lover before your head is thrown back completely. He’s watching you, eyes wide with adoration- which would fill your heart if past experiences didn’t tell you that meant for a very long night (and a very sore morning).
The crown of your skull is flat on the pillow beneath your head as a long guttural groan escapes from somewhere deep within. Your fated second climax of the night shows no remorse, stealing all the breath from your lungs and leaving your legs shaking. Eddie also lacks remorse, his fingers never losing speed as your walls clench around them. Arousal gushed over his hand and onto the sheets, leaving a sticky mess that you were too gone to care about. His comforting touch settles over your spasming diaphragm in an halfhearted attempt to help calm you after you start to thrash, but the way he drags your orgasm out with quite a few more thrusts than necessary proves how much he is enjoying this.
“There you go, princess,” he purrs. “Feel all of it, you deserve it.”
It was like your body had become too tight, cramping your stomach from the strong contractions. Simultaneously, it was also as if you were exploding out of your goosebump-littered skin. While somewhat sensing the strain of your vocal chords, you couldn't recognize the voice echoing profanity throughout the room. All you could manage to focus on was the sound of Eddie coaxing you through your comedown, his usual baritone barely audible as he shushed you and stroked your hair.
“Catch your breath baby, nice and slow. We’re not done yet,” he murmured softly, the devious glint in his eyes returning when his promise sent an obvious shiver down your spine.
“Such a good little slut,” he praised, “Probably have no idea how fucking hard you’re making me right now. Don’t have much ideas about anything, really, other than how bad you wanna be fucked stupid.”
“So bad,” you agreed, barely able to comprehend what was being said to you. “So, so bad.”
Confusion floods you when he rolls his eyes at your response. There’s a quiet muttering coming from his moving lips, something sounding like ‘... -proving my point,’ but you’re too caught up in the way he closes the distance between his and your mouths.
Time stills as you allow his kiss to absorb you and melt your mind. You’re not sure exactly how long it took until he determined that you were ready for more, but you suspected that he was purposely granting you time to recover before enacting his next course of action (ever the gentleman no matter how inexplicably turned on him disrespecting you made you feel). He kissed you breathless until that ache in your bones returned, the need for him coming back in full force. After what could have been minutes or hours, Eddie parted from your still desperate body.
He pushed himself off of you leisurely before positioning you horizontally across the bed. Hands sank into the dip of your waist, seizing both sides of your torso and dragging your pelvis to the very edge of the mattress. Then, he fell to his knees on the carpet and hooked your legs over his shoulders. His arms wrap around from the underside of your thighs, holding them in place and leaving no room for resistance. Now that he had you exactly how he wanted you, he mouthed at the delicate skin of your inner thighs- gentle nips and kisses to the left before switching and unexpectedly biting down on the flesh of the right. You yelp at the unexpected sting, and though he was careful not to draw blood, there will surely be a darkened mark replicating the shape of his canines there the next day.
“Is my girl ready for number three?” he asks, smiling up at you looking entirely too sure of himself, yet somehow remaining endearing. “Gonna drain what little is left inside that pretty head. Gonna make you lose some IQ points.”
You’re now completely engulfed in euphoria, the natural high from an overproduction of hormones in your brain is incomparable to any substance you’ve sampled before. While still distracted trying to control your smiling in this loopy state, Eddie takes the opportunity to catch you by surprise. He licks a long stripe up your glistening sex, spanning from your leaking hole to your swollen clit.
Ditzy giggles are interrupted by a choked gasp, and the bed sheets loosen from the corners when your hands grasp at them and pull. This reaction produces a smirk from the man between your legs. You feel his lips stretch wide, the movement slightly lifting your clitoral hood and allowing access for his teeth to scrape against the sensitive bundle of nerves underneath. It’s too much, and you instinctively try to scoot backwards, only to be reminded that he’s holding you in place. Though obviously aware of your attempts to escape his busy mouth, he shows no signal that he plans to ease up.
His technique shifts from long flat licks into stiffening the very tip of his tongue and flicking it back and forth over your clit. He keeps this up until you’re squirming under him, only to relax his tongue once more and allow the muscle to melt against your center. It’s messy and uncalculated, and you can feel his drool dripping down over your ass and wetting the sheets even more. You’re not surprised the simple act of eating you out has Eddie salivating, he’s been obsessed with getting his mouth on you whenever possible since the beginning of your relationship. In fact, for those first few months, it was pretty much a guarantee that he would cum in his pants like a teenager anytime he gave you head.
Like a psychic, Eddie moves away from your clit right as the build up begins. But before you can whine any complaints, he starts fucking his tongue in and out of your hole. When you look down at him through hooded eyes you’re almost shocked at the sight of him completely engrossed in your pussy, his cheeks covered in your wetness with eyes screwed shut. The underside of his nose and his chin press harshly against you as he tries to push his tongue out as far as it’ll go.
He’s moaning into you, clearly enjoying the taste. For a brief moment you feel slightly jealous, wishing to have him in your mouth as well. You forget all envy, however, when he pushes further into you and shakes his head left to right, the vibrations from his moans present as ever.
The force with which his fingers dig into your flesh is sure to bruise the fat of your thighs, but you don’t notice the burn it’s causing until after being released. He looks up at you through his lashes and you watch as his tongue leaves your hole. With a devilish glare, he spits harshly directly on your clit before returning to licking and sucking it, the entire time his eyes never moving from your face. One arm unwraps itself from around your thigh so that he can extend out his pointer and middle fingers before plunging them into you. The other hand disappears to where your eyes can’t follow- but given how his moans picked up in ferocity, you were certain about what he was doing. Not only did his palming of himself make him louder, but it had his tongue pulsating against you and shoving you further over the edge to your orgasm.
All hope of lasting longer was lost when he curled his fingers in a ‘come hither’ motion, forgoing fucking them in and out to instead massage the spongy spot inside you. This, coupled with the way his lips were now focused on suckling your clit, had you tugging at his curls while you yelled out in pleasure.
This many orgasms so quickly after one another was slightly painful, but in a confusing way that only made you crave him inside you even more. Using your grip on his hair to yank him off of you, you sit up to see him on his knees with a crazed look in his eyes. His entire lower face from his nose down was glistening with the combination of your cum and his drool, and the sheets beneath where you sat didn’t feel any dryer.
“God, baby,” he groans, his voice completely wrecked with lust, “please tell me you don’t need a minute, cause I’m about to bust right now.”
Now that you’re not laying down, you’re able to peer over the edge of the mattress and see his hand at work, rubbing harshly over the zipper of his jeans to try and offer any sense of relief.
“I’m ready, Eds,” you pant out while nodding, still needing to catch your breath.

“Sweets we’ve watched it about a million times now”
“So is that a no?”
“When do you want to watch it?” He gives in pulling out his phone to order tickets
“Thursday” you look over at his phone “why are you checking the weather?”
“It’s going to rain, you sure?”
“Uh duh, even better” you state
“I got the tickets for 3 in the afternoon”
“Sounds good” as you kiss his cheek heading out
“Uh, not so fast” he grabs your hand as you try to leave
“Yes” you question as you wrap your hands around his neck and make deep eye contact
“Love you” he leans in for a kiss
“Is that really it?”
“Was hoping for a better reply” he says looking away jokingly
“I love you”
“Thank you” he quickly walks away, you were left stunned and let out a low sigh
While the days have passed, you eagerly thought of a great outfit, you were heavily inspired by the Pinterest bitches and still wanted to keep it warm and Spider-Man theme. You landed on some chunky black leather heeled boots, some tights, black skirt, Spider-Man hoodie and a beanie. While Tom had some black cargo pants with a black hoodie and blue and red flannel. With some sideman converse
“What ya’ up to?” you hear a familiar British voice whispering in your ear while they wrapped their hands on your waist
“Nothing much” you admit
“I was hoping if a stranger came and wrapped their hands around you, you would freak” he kisses your neck as you turn around
“I don’t know, this stranger looks rather handsome if I say so myself” you peck Toms's lips
“You kiss like a girl” he jokes
“Than teach me how to kiss” you dare
“Maybe I will” he leans in and captures your lips in his, biting your lower lip, the kiss becomes a little more passionate and you have to pull away before you end up on the bed, missing the movie
“I have to be honest, because I haven’t been recently” Tom looks at you deep in the eyes
“What, what’s wrong?” You become frantic interlocking hands on both sides of Tom scanning his face for any hints of what he’s going to drop
I’m significantly better off for having met you.” He started smiling
“Fuck you, you scared the actual shit out of me” you admit slightly pushing his shoulder
“Ouch, I pour my love out to you, and this is how you repay me?” It’s Tom’s turn to do the hand interlocking.
“I’d be sad if you weren’t around.” You admit kissing him
“I’ve taught you well” he smirks
“I’m a quick learner” you raise your chin since Tom is still anchoring your hands down
“No, no, I think it’s the teacher” he crosses his arms, your hands missing his warmth
“Doubt it” you say under your breathe “anyway you ready?” Changing the subject real quick
“I need one more thing” Tom says as he holds on to your cheek for a kiss “I’m good now, we can leave” he says patting your back to start walking. It’s the subtle actions Tom does that makes your stomach flutter. He has a way of making your crush on him a lot bigger, never letting it die down or weaken
“I think you’re just my type” you admit while walking to the car
“I hope so, since you’re dating me” Tom says as he’s holding the door for you
“I love my little redcoat,” you say leaning in for a kiss as Tom is standing for you to get in the car. As you buckle yourself Tom gets in the car. It was raining so you could hear the pitter patter of the drops on the window
“I love my little patriot” he says mimicking you even with the kiss
As he started the car he rests his hand on your thigh squeezing it every time he thinks you zoned out. He likes talking to you, he doesn’t believe he knows everything about you. Like for example, yesterday he learned you broke your right hand when you were two for some chocolate cake. He can’t imagine how cute you were with your little broken hand. Or how he learned you were closer to your brother than your sister.
“So anything I should know” Tom asks, there’s a long pause as you think.
“Oh when I was a teen my brother, sister, and I would go to the movies every Tuesday when we wanted to watch a movie”
“Is that so?” He looks over at you and you nod your head back at him. Once he reaches a red light, you yet again lean in for a kiss. As you pull away Tom plays some music and plays “I wanna prove to you” by The Lemon Twigs
“When I look in your eyes, I’m not telling you lies” Tom sings along rather terribly
“Baby, why won’t you love me?” You sing into a water bottle and than tilt your hand over to Tom so he can sing. He holds onto your wrists as he continues the song to your desired destination. As you get your goodies for the movies, Tom is running over to the other side of the car to open the car for his lover.
“Thanks hon,” you kiss his cheek
“Of course, darling” he says as he smacks your ass, proving how easily he can go from an angel to a demon
“Love, not in public” you say as you walk to the theatre
“Gotta prove to others that you're mine” he smiles at an old lady passing by
“You know I hate when-“ you were cut off by some teenage boys coming your way
“Hey sugar,” one tries to be slick completely ignoring Tom and his hand around your shoulder as you wait in line to show the tickets on Tom’s phone
“Hey boys” you play along to see if they actually are harmful
“What ya’ going to watch?” They look at Tom’s phone, huh, so they do know you are together
“Spider-Man” Tom answers, you could tell the boys knew who Tom was because they had a look of realization
“First time watching it?” The other one says
“No, watched it more times than I can count on my hands” you admit and look at Tom who seems obviously annoyed
“We’re going to watch it too” the blonde says
“First time?” Your eyebrows furrow
“Third” the brunette answers
“Here’s the tickets” the worker hands over to Tom as you both walk to get some popcorn and a beverage
“I thought the ass smack was very clear” you mock Tom
“Have to make you quiet asap, and put those kids in their place to not mess with a woman who is taken” he says almost not even to you, but himself.
“Speaking of the devils” you look back to see the brunette and blonde
“Can we help you?” Tom says turning around
“Not you, she can though” the blonde admits
“What can she do, that I can’t?” Tom is starting to grow furious
“Please us” the brunette finishes
“First I am not a prostitute, Tom we can go,” you say with the popcorn and soda
“We need the snacks” he doesn’t even look at you and is staring at the boys
“I have them, love” you make eye contact with him and he immediately grabs the popcorn to help you out.
“I really didn’t like that” Tom says “I mean did they not see that you’re taken, by me?!” Tom says a little too loud
“Get used to it,”
“Does this happen to you when I’m not around” Tom furrows his eyebrows at you
“Sadly, wait what seats are we in?” You look at him and leads you to them
“At least we got away from them” you confess
“Not likely” Tom meets your eyes and points to the boys coming from the other side of the theatre.
“Great,” you say and see they aren’t even that close they’re on the other side still of the theatre, now looking at it was pretty lonely, maybe since everyone has watched the movie plenty of times and has moved on, well everyone, but you of course.
“I have a plan,” Tom admits as the movie is starting
“What is it” you look at the freckled boys face looking at the big screen and you can’t help but guide his face to look at you and kiss you.
“What was that for?” Tom pries
“You’re too cute” you kiss him again as you turn away from him and look at the screen. It was Tom’s turn to now stare at the beauty that is in front of him. You lean your head on his shoulder as the movie continues. Tom can feel pairs of eyes on you and gets mad, if they want to watch you. He’ll give them a show.
He slowly moves his hand higher to your thigh, to your heat
“What are you doing Holland?” You keep looking at the screen as he continues his attack with the boys
“Nothing, just love you so much” he kissed the top of your head. You start to eat some popcorn and see the movie unfolding in front of your eyes. Tom along with the other boys are having a heated staring contest. As he moves his hand further and further higher he starts to massage you heat which cut your breathing off.
“Tom what are you doing? There are people here, let alone kids” you glare at the man
“Want me to stop?” He looks at you with concerning eyes
“Uh-“ you were cut off with Tom sticking two fingers in and a low moan
“Thought so” he says as he continues his attack to prove to the boys you are his and only his. You didn’t hate it, the movie started to have a fight scene so your moans would blend in with the loud sounds. As Tom’s hands continue their routine, he is now forgetting about the other kids and focusing on how you look so attractive trying to suppress your moans. How your face contours to pleasure. How your pretty, full eyebrows, furrow with pleasure as your eyes roll back.
“God you’re perfect” Tom gazes at the woman in front of him
“And therefore I have value” you look at Tom, while you grin at him. Tom leans in for a kiss as he knows you are close to your high so you won’t be loud.
“My pretty girl needs to make her beautiful moans quiet” as he kisses you passionately and you tremble from your high. He adds a third finger and circles your clit. The overstimulation pushing you over the edge. You come back and Tom is taking his fingers in his mouth.
“Wanna try?” He looks at your blissed-out state and you lean in for a kiss. You can taste yourself and the coke Tom has been drinking. “That was hot” Tom confesses as you look back to the screen and resume watching the movie.
“Let’s hope they didn’t record” you stare at the scene unfolding in front of your eyes, it was near the end since Peter was walking to the coffee shop “you look cute when you're Peter” you glance back at the man that has been eyeing at you since you’ve kissed. “What? Do I have a pimple” you start sliding your hand around your side of the face he’s looking at
“No, you’re just pretty after you cum” he smirks and you punch him
“Tell your colleague I say hi” you look at Tom’s pants, they looked a little tighter than normal. You lightly smile and look at Tom who has a mischievous smirk
“You are so fucked after this movie” Tom holds on to your thigh as he looks back at the screen and so do you. The first time you were watching this you were sobbing, while now you have a smile that goes ear to ear. As the credits roll out, you both leave since you’ve watched this movie before and know what the ending credits are.
“How you feeling” Tom asks holding on to your hand while he holds the soda in the other as you hold on the popcorn.
“Excited,” you say looking at your lover and seeing the clear doors in front of you. It was night, but still raining which put a smile on your face even more. You walked to the car and get in, Tom starts the car as he kisses you. Waiting for it to warm up. He was holding on to your chin as you slowly kiss him. It was sending butterflies to your stomach and you couldn’t help but smile at the man. You eyes slowly flutter shut. And are only in the moment.
“We should probably find a more lonely parking lot,” Tom says pulling his head away but keeping his forehead on yours. He begins the car as you look at the rain droplets on your passenger window. Your stomach flutters as you realize how lucky you are to have Tom
“Whats going on in your pretty head of yours?” Tom takes a double-take at your delicate features
“Nothing, just that I’m lucky” you smile at the brunette curly-haired boy “I found a five leafed clover among many other clovers”
“Are those even real?” He turns to you as he hits a red light
“Yeah, they’re one in a million,” you say your notable fact that you’ve been hiding for a little too long
“You’re such a nerd, you are the epitome of a peter Parker, taking physics freshman year, and loving geometry” Tom stares at you with so much love and adoration in his glittering eyes. You look over at him and smile like a 6-year-old who just saw a kitten and wants to keep it
“I’m your muse”
“I’m your five leafed clover” as the light turns green Tom finds a deserted park's parking lot. It was midnight, and pouring rain so you doubt there were kids still out. You look over at Tom as he reclines your seat.
“Wait- Woah, pause we’re doing it here?” You start to panic since you have never done this before
“Yeah, it’s romantic”
“It’s uncomfortable” you deadpan
“You won’t be disagreeing when you call out my name sweets” Tom starts to slide into your seat as he is flipping you on top of him.
“What am I supposed to do?” You hold on to your hands on your chest scared to touch anything. Tom takes your hand as he guides it to unbotton his pants and slides them down along with his boxers.
“Take your shirt off” Tom instructs and you obey as he does the same
While you’re still stripping he tears your tights in the crouch area and your panties.
“Tom!” You shriek
“I’ll buy you new ones” he says you look at him annoyed as he kisses you and brings you down to kiss him. You pull away as you leave your forehead against his and see his cock, he looks at your antics and you start rubbing it with your hands with the help of the little precum dripping out. He growls against your ear as he kisses your jaw. You would go down on him, but there is not much space. You try to get him ready so you spit on your hand and start stroking him. He throws his head back against the head rest.
“Stop before I cum” he says as you make eye contact with him, doe-eyed and looked caught in the headlights. You start to kiss his jaw and nibble at it. Tom is pulling out this phone and you would normally take offense to that since this is intimate, but all he did was connect his phone to the car to play music
“You're too cute,” you say grinning again as you kiss his jaw.
Tom smiles as he grabs onto his cock and aligns himself up with your folds. Rubbing his dick along your clit. Seeing how wet and slick you are, from your previous orgasm. You yelped at the action to see it was only him. He scanned your face to make sure you wanted this and not something he was forcing upon you, he takes it as a yes since you sunk down on him and bottom out. Hiding your face in his neck.
“Fuck you’re so tight” he tries to grind your hips along his.
As you start to gain momentum he notices you sucking on his neck. For sure leaving an imprint. You lift your head up and ride him properly. He starts to massage your boobs with the bra he forgot to take off, and in one swoop it’s gone. You try to cover yourself and Tom chuckles
“Darling we’ve been dating for years now, stop hiding from me” he tries to swat your hands away and starts to massage your tits
You start to rub your clit for some extra sensation and you arch your back. Tom loves the sight in front of him. He especially loves brushing your back as it’s arched. Your extra hand is on Tom’s chest as you try to stabilize yourself. Tom adores seeing his dick buried in your tight core and how your mouth is wide open as your eyes are shut closed. While he’s staring down he sees his bulge through your stomach. He swears he just came at the sight.
“That little mouth of yours is singing to me” Tom praises spurring you on
“Fuck Tom” you wail as your head looks up.
“We should get married” he blurts out “can’t get enough” he tries to cover the whole he just buried
Tom is entranced at how you react to him. He feels like he's burning up from pure excitement. He thrusts up meeting your rhythm. He misses the way you're spelling “I love you” while riding him. He stares at how well your boobs go along with his thrusts. He may have fucked you before, but he will never forget this feeling. He does feel eerily rare to have you. He’s in entranced at how lovely you are. He starts to make out with your boob as he feels you come close to your orgasm. You start to feel overstimulated and hide your face against Tom’s neck and he helps you ride out your high. You start your attack at his ear nibbling it and licking it.
“I’m yours, I’m all yours” Tom wants this up and starts bringing it up.
“Fill me up to the brim Holland” your strangled moans come out weak
“Making sweet babies with you, darling” you come back up to the surface and make eye contact with Tom. He tucks a strand of hair behind your ear and you lean your foreheads against each other. The sounds of the skin slapping, music, and rain all in one spurs you on. You lean your head against his for the last time as you come undone. He loves the way your face shapeshifts. After you came he finally let himself go. You start to remove yourself from him as the cum is dripping out of you. Some droplets hitting the car seat and will mark this day forever
“Fuck” he says as he takes two fingers and grabs the liquid and sticks it in your mouth. He goes back in and sticks three fingers in to make sure you’re fullof his seed. You nearly yell out a pornagraphic moan since you are overstimulated.
“Taste like potentially babies” you wink at him. He swears he just became hard again. Tom looks like he’s admiring a painting, you lean in for a kiss and Tom sucks on your bottom lip and you moan. The fucked out expression he has on is one of your favorites of his.
“It does taste like potential babies” he jokes as you lay on the your side of the seat, squished, you turn to the side of the window to draw little spiderwebs, since it was hot from the activity you just did. While Tom kneads your boobs, loving how warm they are on this rainy day. You were focused on your drawing as Tom kisses you shoulders
“What’s that” he asks whispering in your ear,to focused on peppering your body in kisses. He goes between your warm thighs and sticks a finger inside your folds to play around with the mess he made inside you, making sure each inch of your walls are covered with him.
“Fuck-“ you moan out messing one of your webs
“Didn’t answer my question” nibbling on your ear
“Spidey webs” you continue to moan into the side of the car, you paused the drawings on the whole frame of the window. Tom adding a saving finger and flicking at your folds.
“Don’t stop, god fuck babe don’t stop” Tom adding a third finger, never hating the way you moan out for him.
“Let’s play a game, I spell out a word, in your tight, overstimulated pussy and you guess it, if you get it wrong I stop, if you get it right, round two in the house” Tom states the instructions and you moan an “mhm” complying
Tom starts spelling out the word my
“My” you let out airy, your face strunctioned by the pleasure
Tom than spells out pussy
“Fuck tommy” you let out not being able to handle it
“Wrong, I’ll give my princess another try” he jokes
“Pussy” you moan out
“God fucking dammit you’re hot” he says sucking on your neck, it was enough to push you over the edge and made you come for the third and not final time. Tom made sure to keep your cum inside, slapping your sensitive pussy making you yelp “mine” he states
“Teach me how you draw them” he says acting as if he didn’t just make you scream his name, you instruct step by step on your doodles, something you learned in middle school and carried it with you till adulthood and would draw when you were bored and wanted to doodle something. In fact you would have drawings of anything Spider-Man related on your phone case. Tom and you never understood why you loved drawing spiders, but would freak at one in front of you. He says it’s a quirk, but since you took psychology freshman year you’re convinced it’s a childhood trauma type thing. Once your body temperature went down you started getting cold and that was when Tom decided it’s time to go home, he put his pants and hoodie back on, handing you his flannel for a faster coverup, the next day you would clean the car. Tom starts the car as he has one hand on the wheel the other is on your thigh and he backs out.
“Sorry again” Tom let’s out lowly
“For what,” you ask in a happy attitude
“For ripping your tights” there it was the guilty, innocent Tom who acted as though he didn’t just destroy you. This is a reason why you would never think he would ever harm you.
“You’re unreal sometimes” maybe it was the fact it was nearly two in the morning, but you were happy with today. You always are, but today more than others. As Tom parks the car to the house he misses the chance to open the door for you. He grabs on to your wrists and pulls you in for a kiss in the rain. Fuck there it is again, the butterflies this monster creates. You smile into the slow but passionate driven kiss. It felt like a movie, in the pitch dark with pouring rain coming down on you while you are wearing his flannel and a small skirt.
He held on to your hand pulling you to walk to the porch and patiently wait for him to open the door. Once you heard a click and saw the door open. Tom started to attack you in kisses. Leading you to the living room. He isn’t going yo walk up those stairs to the bedroom, it’s funny you even think that when there is a fireplace. He turns it on as you’re just standing there.
“We’re going to do it on the floor? Tommy you really love uncomfortable sex” you joke smiling at him
He slowly walks to you, kissing your beach, to your jaw, to your cheek, and finally your lips. He starts to unbotton his oversized flannel off you. Thanking that you’re already nude under. He than zips your skirt off and collecting your tights and panties with the skirt. You start to unzip your high heeled boots and finally remove your clothes while Tom undresses. You start to kiss his neck as he is taking unzipping his pants.
“Fuck you don’t know what you’re doing to me right now” he confess as he finally removes his clothes and shoes.
Tom than carrie’s you bridal style and lays you down on the floor. You hiss at how cold it is, but we’re quickly quieted with his kisses. He stuck his tongue in fighting for dominance. He messaged your folds and that’s what made you moan in the kiss. Making him win. Tom than adds his middle finger. Deciding that wasn’t enough he added his ring finger. Flicking your clit which made you moan. Arching your back from the ground. Tom swore he twitched on the spot. He couldn’t take it anymore. He wanted you to cum so he can fuck you again. He started to rub your clit with his thumb finger. He than started to suck on your neck. Begging that you would come undone already.
“Tommy” you said out of breathe. Tom felt like his prayers were finally answered
“come on my fingers love,” he practically begs. He continues his attack at your fold. Adruptedly he stops and goes down on you. Making love with your folds.
“So fucking sweet” he says in between your legs. His breathing hitting you, adding more sensation.
“Fuck” you mutter and grab at his hair. Pulling at his curls. Tom loves when you pull at his hair. It’s like a little reward of knowing you’re doing something right. He looks up at your face and sees how your face is drawn with pleasure at what he’s doing. he swears he just came at the sight.
“you’re perfect, come on love, paint my face with your pretty white paint” he praises which pushed you over the edge.
Tom slowly came up from the surface. Looking at you, licking at his lips at your liquids.
“mmm, that’s some good shit right there” he says making you laugh
“you missed a spot” you say making him come closer. You went to touch the corner of his lip. Your finger containing the liquid and sucking at it.
“Fuck come over here” Tom says sweeping your ankles so you would reach him faster. You yelp at the force. He leans in for a kiss. He takes his hand and guides your jaw to meet his lips. He could never get enough of you.
“I want to fuck you so hard right now” he confesses. Tom knew it was going to he roa ugh in you so he grabbed the clothes and balled them up in a pillow for your head.
“Such a gentleman” your eyes twinkling with adoration.
“Not really it will come with a price” he admits smiling at his own joke.
Tom glances down at your heat and sees in glistening with the fireplace light. He sees it clench over nothing and he can’t take it anymore. He than fills you up with his length for the second and last time.
“shit” you wrap your legs around Tom’s waist.
“Fuck I thought you wouldn’t be as tight as before” Tom almost smiles at you.
Tom than started go thrust up into you. Making you moan loudly. You cold feel his length in you. It was probably thicker and longer now. You looked up at the ceiling, completely blissed out and can’t wrap the fact that this is how you’re spending your thursday night. You weren’t complying because you absolutely loved the day. In fact you thought it was the perfect day.
“you’re perfect for me” Tom moans in your ear which made it tickle and you giggled, but were quickly cut off with a hard thrust to your g-spot and moaned loudly into his ear.
That’s the thing, Tom loved hearing your moans. He thought they were like trophies for his hard work and dedication. He pursued them as if it was his only job.
Tom started to suck on your sweet spot that was located behind your ear. Earning another moan to his collection. You started to scratch his back from the way he is pleasuring you as of now. Rolling your eyes back everytime he hits the perfect spot. Tom started to rub your clit aggressively, he wanted you to come for the fifth time that night.
He hit the spot so hard you started to see stars. Was it even possible to see stars? You couldn’t let out anything. You had your mouth wide open but nothing was coming out. Your hand went straight to Tom’s hair to pull at it. You needed something to ground yourself from trying not to lift off the floor.
“shit” you finally let out after what felt like eternity.
You felt something build up for the last time. Tom looked up from sucking at your sweet spot, he was still thirsting into you and rubbing you. How was he even real? How isn’t he spider-man? You both made eye contact. His eyes glistening looking at your blissed out state. He felt proud of himself. He was filled with something out of this world. He was happy you were his and he is able to fuck the shit out of you.
“perfect, you are so fucking perfect” he praises kissing your lips. It was passionate, it was heated.
“love” you let out lowly.
He knew you were close. He lifted your leg up to his shoulder. You didn’t even know it was possible that he could go deeper into you, but anything is possible for Tom. Your eyes were rolled back, your back arching. Tom started to rub your clit even more viciously. He stared at you. The fireplace flame’s light capturing you perfectly. Fuck how much he loved you.
You felt something snap and that’s when you knew you finally came, Tom thrusting into you sloppily still. He was right behind. Wanting to paint your walls for the last time of the night.
“Fuck” he dragged out. He took his phone out from his jeans pocket that were laying right next to you. He flipped his phone landscape and recorded him come out of you. Capturing the mess he made with his phone. You saw him bite his lip. You were blushing, what was he going to do with this video? what you didn’t know is he has a whole album of photos and videos like this and everytime he’s on set, alone. He jerks off to these. He than pushes his seed back into you which made you jerk since your heat has been through so much. It caught him by surprise and made him laugh. He flips his phone blog style and went for a kiss. Sucking at the bottom of your lip.
“Fucked you so hard, didn’t I darling” he looks for confirmation
“Yes Tommy” you say pulling him by the neck in for a kiss making him drop his phone. Holding on to your hair messily. You started to lay down bringing him down with you. You wrapped your legs around him again. when you pulled away you flipped to the side looking at the s fireplace.
“Awe, you made a mess” he says looking down at his abdomen. You look and see him glisenting. You hide your laugh with your hands.
“oops” you let out like a little kid
Tom couldn’t stand you sometimes and made you look at him which he was behind you. You smile drawing his face out with your index finger.
“You’re cute” you look at his blown out brown eyes.
When you finished drawing him out, your hands settled for his curly brown hair and played with it. Tom was playing and drawing infinity signs on your shoulder that was playing with his hair. He couldn’t let anything out. He could only admire you and take this moment in.
“Love my five leafed clover” you confess
“Love my muse” Tom says meeting your gaze

This Is Still Marvel, Right?
Summary- 2.5k Sam Wilson x Bucky Barnes x Wade Wilson x You. Deadpool the character from the comics is sitting across from the table from you, real right in front of your eyes. Not only is time travel a thing, but dimension travel is as well, and he is here for a very serious reason. Warnings- swears. Written for @what-is-your-backupplan-today CATFA 10th Anniversary Challenge. Prompts are highlighted.
Masterlist
“You came from where?” Sam questioned with a tilt of his head, arms folded across his chest as he raised a quizzical brow at the man in all red.
“And why the clown suit?” Bucky right next to him asked, trying to make sense of what was going on.
“I’m from the X-Men verse, you know… bald dude in the wheelchair, Wolvie with butter knife hands, we have our own pigeon boy. Not as sweet as your wings though.” Wade said with a sigh. “And we had a Peter, but the winds… god the winds were too strong. I will never forget you Sugar Bear.” He sobbed in his hand a moment, sniffling a moment.
You were thoroughly in shock, your jaw was dropped to the floor as Wade mother fucking Wilson sat in the interrogation chair, one leg crossed over the other, his ankle jiggling as he leaned forward on his elbows, planting his chin in his palms as he made an cooing sound at the two men. “Aww, they are so cute when they are confused, aren't they cute? The cutest little puppies.” He went to boop Bucky's nose, but Bucky reared his head back away from his hand and a whir of his hand closed around Wade's wrist, which caused the masked mercenary to gasp out excitedly.
“THE WINTER SOLDIER ARM, VIBRANIUM UPGRADE. I keep telling Cable he needs this hook up, his isn't nearly as cool as yours. Mister Bucky Barnes Sir, can you sign my suit? I’m a super fan.” the white eyes of his mask widened and you finally managed to close your mouth watching all this.
Whatever this was, you were actually wondering if you weren't in some drugged hallucination right now. Mission gone wrong? You had eaten that turkey sandwich out of the compound fridge, maybe it was drugged and this was someone's payback for stealing their food.
“Come on man.” Sam snapped out, still trying to get a straight answer out of him. Bucky let go of his hand which Wade muttered to himself.
“I'm never washing this hand, not ever.” He cradled it to his chest. “Just wait till I tell Chrome Dome who shook my hand.”
“ANSWERS!” Bucky yelled out and Wade gasped at the outburst. Bucky reached over to grasp the mask and yanked it off, grimacing as Wade's appearance showed. Both Sam and Bucky recovered quite quickly, you were still freaking out in the corner and Wade gave a suggestive wink to the two of them.
“Names Wilson, Wade Wilson. No relation to this saucy stud though.” He eyed Sam up and down with a purr, who scoffed at the sudden attention. “Don't worry, I know that one is crushing on you hard. The chemistry. I won't make a move on you. Winter Soldier though is fair game, eh?” He made a chef’s kiss motion after pointing at you. “So are you two… do you… fondue?” Wade asked, Sam and You looked at each other and made disbelieving faces at one another. “Oh we're not admitting feelings? My bad. I jumped ahead in the comics. So much sexual tension.” Making a donut shape with one hand and a pointer with the other, meshing them together, you could feel your throat close up and Sam’s eyes widen. Bucky was struggling to keep his calm at this point, Sam too. Wade made a motion to stand and get up.
“Do we have any eats here?” He puts his hand on the handle to open the door and a knife flung through the air, landing right next to his face. Wade paused and turned around. “Here I thought this was still Marvel and not Dc. Tony would have offered me a snack by now.” He grumbled while sitting back down. “A falafel, blueberries, I know he likes to snack, I've seen the movies.”
You finally got over your shock and went to sit across from him. “Mr.Wilson…”
He put up a hand. “Pool please, Deadpool. Or Wade. Or you can call me Captain Deadpool. Too much?” He glanced up at Sam and Bucky. “Yea too much, just call me Wade.”
“Wade.” you started again, trying to figure out how to approach this. “We’re confused, because you are a comic book character.” You pulled up your phone and pulled up a screen clip of his movie.
Wade gasped and grabbed at your phone, studying it. “Look at that handsome son of a bitch. I'm so glad they picked Ryan Reynolds for the part, he looks just like me.” He held the phone up next to his face. “He’s so good looking, it's the Canadian genes.” Then handed it back, you tucked it away and he leaned forward to toss what looked like a beat up comic book on the table.
“What’s this?” You question, pointing at it.
“A comic book. You guys are just comic book characters and I'm here to fix your story. What? You seriously didn't know you are comic book characters in another universe?”
“Our story?” You pulled the comic towards you and sure enough plastered on the front was Sam in his Falcon Suit, Bucky with his own gear and you were soaring in the air above slightly out of focus.
“Yes, your story. Listen Cable, you all know Cable right? He's like a moodier you Buckaroo…” The name caused Bucky to growl a bit, but Wade continued without noticing. “... hooked me up with this cool device. Not like those stones you all have, this is some actual batman kind of future fuckery that I got rigged to not just travel back in time. But other dimensions. Whoo... “ He made wiggly fingers. “It's like magic right? Cool.”
You were flipping through the pages as fast as possible, skimming the storyline. Amazingly all of it was there, the mission report Nick Fury brought Sam this morning, you and Bucky sparring and how he pinned you against the mat, the heart to heart about how you two missed Steve.
Sam pinched the bridge of his nose while Bucky looked over your shoulder at the comic book. “I'm getting a headache, or I'm losing it. Did I get hit in the head?” Sam rambled a bit and you got to the end of the comic, seeing that the mission Fury had given you three was completed, successfully.
“Says there we did just fine.” Bucky said and you closed it before pushing it towards the center of the table.
“It's not all just fine.” Wade threw up his hands in exasperation and you shook your head so confused.
“Explain it to us Wade.” You grasped the comic again, flipping through it, scanning the pages as quick as you can.
“Go to page 53.” He tapped his finger against the steel table and you did, the panel showing you and Sam standing on a roof top about to enter a building from above and Bucky was shown in another panel scaling a building.
“I don't see it…” you shook your head confused as to what he was talking about and Wade pointed at the bottom, that was just barely in view. A hot dog cart.
“You are here, from another dimension of life… because of a hot dog cart?”
Wade nodded firmly. “If we don't protect that hot dog cart, bad things will happen.” His voice lowered, turning shifty. “Spooky stuff… anal stuff.” He shuddered and sat back, staring at the hot dog cart in the bottom of the picture. “If we don't protect that hot dog cart, it causes issues you couldn't even fathom. Another life just poof… what did y’all call it? Spanked out of existence?”
You just automatically corrected him. “Snapped.”
“Spanked sounds better, maybe consider changing it to spanked?”
Sam cleared his throat. “You traveled through dimensions to get here so we could save a hot dog cart? I'm just- trying to keep it all straight. This isn't entirely the weirdest thing I have heard, but it's close.”
Bucky scoffed. “I say this guy needs some help, maybe his brain got scrambled like mine.”
“Nah, I didn't get the mind trip you did. I was tortured by a guy named Francis.” Wade snorted gleefully. “Called himself Ajax, like the dish soap!” Slapping his knee, he busted out laughing heavily, starting to cry.
You rubbed at your face and looked over your shoulder. “I think we should trust him guys. What if what he says is true? We’ve dealt with crazy shit before.”
“You can't be serious Y/N.” Bucky shook his head and Sam looked doubtful. Wade giggled as he wiped a tear from his eye, pointing a finger at you.
“I like you, you're the smart one here I can tell.”
You all turned to Sam who hadn't said anything yet. He sighed and rubbed at his face a bit, before finally saying under his breath. “I'm never going to hear the end of this… Lets take him.”
Wade did a fist pump in victory, leaping up to grab his mask back from Bucky. “X-Force Ass-” You were quick to cover his mouth, leaving the “-emble” garbled.
“He's going to get us killed, Wilson.”
“I said to call me Deadpool or Captain Deadpool.”
“I WAS TALKING TO HIM!” Bucky jerked his thumb at Sam, gritting his teeth while he yanked open the door and left the room. Deadpool followed after him, the next thing you heard was Bucky hollar. “I'm going to kick your ass Prick.”
“Will you? You're making me all excited. Like a fairy making a little girl's wishes come true, I feel like I could fly.”
Then you and Sam heard something loud crack and Wade’s cooing grew fainter. “Nice boots, Tinkerbell!”
You snatched the comic book and stuffed it in your back pocket. “Uh we probably better go stop Bucky. It's pointless for him to try to kill Wade and will just tire himself out.”
Sam opened the door, holding it open for you. “Should we really take that away from him?”
“True and it sounds like Wade is having himself a fan moment anyways and doesn't care.” You stepped out to see Bucky and Wade tangled together wrestling.
Just as the comic stated, You and Sam were able to go in from the top. You could see Bucky below you using rigging to scale the building. Down further below you could see a red dot pushing a hot dog cart down the street well out of harm. Speaking into the comm’s, your wings folded to pull you into a spiral, spinning towards the roof. “Wade’s got the cart moved, and were clear to enter.”
There was a grunt in the comms and Bucky's voice crackled through. “Well damn, I'm glad the hot dog cart is safe… for reasons spanning an entire dimension that we still don't know.”
“Who are we to question it, Bucky? I mean, we’ve seen some pretty strange shit.” You stated as Sam landed next to you, shooting at the door and ducking inside together. “Maybe this is just another one to add to the pile.”
Silence descended on the group as you each made to fulfill the mission. Once the building was clear and the three of you were working on exiting, Wade was waiting on the roof, sitting on the edge eating a hot dog and had three more lined up next to him. “I brought you all lunch, you guys do that sort of thing right? Good Mission? yes I bet. Buckaroo has the happy murder gleam in his eyes.” He took another bite of his hot dog and chewed while studying Bucky closely.
“Don't do that.” Bucky shuddered a bit and Wade proceeded to pop the last bite into his mouth and chewed slowly while rolling the bottom half of his mask down.
“Do what Buckaroo?”
“Stare at me or call me Buckaroo.”
“While eating a hot dog? Only way to properly eat one. I know you love it James. Well my mission here is done.” He pushed off the ledge to give you a hug and handed you a manilla envelope. “This is for you, it explains everything. Toodleloo Kiddies, it was fun knowing you. Oh and if you see Hugh Jackman on the street, tell him his coffee sucks and bitch slap the prick.” He jumped back on the ledge and looked over the edge. “Oh this is gonna kill my knees but this is a true superhero moment. Wait for it…” He gave you all a salute and stepped over, plummeting down. Sam and Bucky rushed the edge, looking over.
You knew better, a superhero landing wouldn't kill him.
“NAILED IT!” you three barely heard, then in a flash of sparks, Deadpool was gone.
“I thought for sure he was going to pancake down there.” Bucky said with a hint of sadness and Sam shook his head.
“We gotta get out of here before we're caught and get this back to Fury.” Sam held up a chip that held the actual intel of the mission.
You silently agreed and together the three of you made your way off the building and back home.
Afterwards once you were back in the tower and changing out of your suit, you glanced at the manilla envelope Wade left you.
Sitting down on the bench, you opened it and peeked in. What looked like another comic book was in there as well as a letter. Pulling out the letter, you scanned it.
~To the Super Duper Trio,
Thank you for believing me. It was crucial. We're not the only comic book verse out there living our lives. Sometimes they cross intersect in ways that I can't explain, go find the wizard, he can tell you more about it. Also ask him to your next party, because he can do the COOLEST TRICKS. But if you take out the comic book enclosed you will see on page 23 there is a hot dog cart as well as a familiar looking dork named Jake Jensen. Alias- Capt Jensen.
Perhaps your Captain is alive in some way, the DC universe having changed him to a loveable, cat hating, Petunias loving, super smart idiot.
Tell Birdman thanks for the vote of confidence, caw caw mother fucker.
Tell Buckaroo he forgot to sign my suit, I will be back. He is my favorite after all.
And what I wanna tell you is take care of those idiots so they dont kill each other.
With Love,
Captain Deadpool
Ps- Yes Cap’s as awkward with women in DC as he was in Marvel.
Pss- Welcome to X-Force! I will be in touch.
You pulled out the comic book and glanced at the cover seeing six people staring down, the title of the comic- The Losers. Flipping to the page, you found a photograph tucked in between the pages, showing another version of the page. One where the street looked demolished and a man lying crumbled by a cart. Also a familiar hot dog cart leaned on its side, demolished.
Setting the picture aside, now you glanced over this panel to see the same man making a show of pulling out a crossbow, the bubble above his head with the words “That’s right, bitches, I got a crossbow!”
The scene didn't really surprise you that much, more like the character now alive in the comic looked just like Steve.
A thinner version, he had facial hair, and the entire get up was never anything Steve would have willingly worn.
But it looked just like Steve Rogers and for the second time that day your jaw dropped.
Maybe Wade Wilson was right, after all…
Nothing was off limits and stranger things have happened.

Season Two Premier
Dean Winchester x Reader
Words: 2385
Masterlist
Summary: At peace with her family, Amara gives Dean a reunion he was never expecting. But Mary isn't the only one she brought back. Now two women must adjust to being in the land of the living, one having been gone for 33 years, and the other having spent the past 365 in hell.
Notes: I told you I had something planned! Let me know if you’ve missed this series and if you're happy to see more. Responses mean the world.
-
Amara looked at each picture curiously. She saw Dean as a young boy, smiling brightly in the arms of his mother. The woman that started it all. Her death put him on this course. This painful, dark journey. Amara set the picture aside, noticing something shine from the back of the drawer.
She took out a small tin box. Inside were more photographs. Amara examined one in particular. It was Dean leaning over the hood of his car. Around his waist were the arms of a laughing woman. He had a glint in his eyes that Amara hadn’t seen. It was then that she understood. Dean would never be with her. He could never join her in her new world. His heart was far, far away. Perhaps she could bring it back to him.
-
Mary couldn’t get her out of her head. That woman. Who was she? She had looked at her… like she knew her.
“You okay, mom?” Sam asked, noticing the far off look in her eyes. She had been acting strange, but that was, of course, understandable. She just came back from the dead, for Chuck’s sake. She gave her youngest a small smile.
“Yeah, I’m just daydreaming, I guess.” She glanced around the kitchen, noticing an absence. “Where’s Dean?”
“He’s probably going to spend the day in his room.” Sam sighed deeply. “Today is a sort of anniversary for him.”
“Anniversary? For what?” From the look on her son’s face, it couldn’t be good. Sam sat down and motioned for her to join him.
“A few years ago- three, to be exact- we lost someone. Dean lost someone.” He clasped his hands together on the table. The wound of losing one of his closest friends had healed some, but it still stung. Especially today. “He loved her. And she loved him. Maybe too much.” He shook his head. It felt like so long ago.
“Dean found someone?” Mary smiled slightly. She had hoped her boys had been loved by someone, since she wasn’t there. Sam nodded.
“Yeah, yeah he did.” He tried not to get choked up, but remembering still pained his heart. And for Dean… After losing Jessica, Sam wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone. His brother had shouldered it for the past three years, accepting little to no help. He never even talked about her.
“What happened?” Mary asked softly. Sam opened his mouth to answer, but he didn’t get the chance.
“She died.” Dean said, having appeared in the doorway without them noticing. He crossed the kitchen and poured himself some coffee before joining them at the table. “Three years ago today.”
Mary didn’t know what to say. She had more questions, but it didn’t seem like the time to ask them. Sam and Dean both looked… broken. All she could do was offer some kind of comfort. She put a hand on top of each of theirs.
“I’m sorry.”
Dean looked into her eyes and she looked into his. They weren’t the same eyes of her bright little boy. They held so much pain, so much loss. She had to tear her gaze away.
She had only been back for about a week and everything was so overwhelming. She should have been there for them. She should have made sure that they never had to feel this pain. She never wanted them to be hunters. She just wanted them to be boys.
Dean finished his coffee and retreated to his room. Sam looked like he wanted to say something, but he just sat in uncomfortable silence. Mary’s heart ached. She just wanted them to be boys.
-
He should be used to losing people by now. In three years, he should have gotten over it. Losing you. But even now, the image of your last smile as the hell hound tore away your flesh was burned into his brain. He would never forget. He opened the drawer of his desk and found the small tin box.
A quiet knock caught his attention and he turned to see his mother in his doorway. She gave him a small smile.
“Can I come in?” He nodded in reply and she sat on the edge of his bed. For a moment, she didn’t have the courage to say anything. How would he react? Would he get upset and make her leave? Or would he close up and not say a word? Maybe, hopefully, he would talk to her. He could make her forget how much she had missed. “Can you…” She paused, waiting for a sign to continue. Dean looked at her expectantly. “Can you tell me about her? I know you probably don’t want to talk about her, I just-”
“It’s okay.” He sighed, putting a hand on top of the box on the desk. “Sam’s always saying that if I talk about her, it keeps her alive in a weird, hippy sense of the word.” He shook his head to himself. Mary watched him carefully, making sure she didn’t push any boundaries.
“What was she like?” Dean thought for a moment.
“Stubborn.” He chuckled deeply. “If she thought she was right, you’d never get her to budge and she always thought she was right. God, the fights we used to get into…” He paused, recalling a few in particular. “She had a big heart and wasn’t afraid to show it. She was tough and smart and funny and beautiful. Best damn pool hustler I’ve ever seen. That’s actually how we met.”
Dean leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He ran a hand over his face, trying to hold back tears.
“How long were you together?” Mary wondered. He wasn’t looking at her anymore. He was staring off into memories.
“Four years.” He answered quietly. “She- uh- she was there for me when Sam…” This was more than he was ready to talk about with her. How was he supposed to tell his mother that her sons have been to hell? How did he tell her that Y/N was there because of him? He forced his shoulders back and sat up straighter. “Anyway, um, this-” He passed Mary the box of photos. “This is her.”
Mary opened the tin slowly, peering down at the photographs with a sad curiosity. As she looked through them, her expression changed. She selected one that gave her a clear view of the woman’s face. She was smiling, a beer in hand and a bright glint in her eyes. Dean was beside her, staring at the woman like she was the only thing in the world. Mary’s eyes widened and Dean noticed her body language shift.
“What is it?”
“Dean I…” Mary was hesitant, but she knew without a doubt that she was right. “I’ve seen her before.” Dean’s brows knitted together.
“What?”
“I know this girl.”
“Mom, that-” Dean sighed, “That isn’t possible. You died before Y/N was three.” Mary handed him the picture.
“I saw her, Dean.” She insisted.
The two stared at each other. Mother and son. Dean broke his gaze first.
“I think Sam needs help in the library.” He said, his voice becoming flat and emotionless. “Please go.”
“Dean-”
“Mom.” He stared at the wall, his command firm. “Please, just… I need some time alone.”
Mary didn’t say anything else. She put the pictures back in the box and tried to hand it back to him. When he didn’t make any move to take it, she set in on the desk and left.
Dean resisted the urge to throw the box across the room. The metal was already dented and battered from other fits throughout the years. Dean just kept his eyes trained on the ground, wrapping his head around his mother’s words. She was wrong. It couldn’t have been Y/N. It just couldn’t.
-
One Week Ago
“Mary?” You gasped, gaping at the woman across from you. Everything was dark, clouds of black surrounding you from every angle. Through the darkness, you could see a woman you only knew from pictures. A woman that had been dead for over 30 years, or at least she was when you were still on earth. You were surprised you still remembered.
“Who are you? Where am I?” She asked, eyes wide with uncertain panic. Before you could answer, you felt something pulling you further into the darkness, yanking Mary back in the other direction.
When you opened your eyes, you were staring at the sky. The real sky. The night sky stretched out, stars shining brightly down at you. So bright you had to shield your eyes. Your skin pricked with every movement. You were cold. You were naked and you were cold.
You stood slowly, your legs barely able to hold yourself up. The night air sent goosebumps up your bare arms and legs. The dead grass crunched under your feet and you took a deep breath.
“Very funny, Levina.” You called into the night. This wasn’t the first time the demon had tried to trick you, made you believe that you were free only to pull you back into your torment. “You must be running out of ideas.” You crossed your arms over your chest to try and stay warm. There was no answer. “Levina!”
“You aren’t in hell anymore.” A voice startled you. You whirled around to see a woman in a black dress looking at you curiously. “Surely, you can tell the difference.”
“Who are you? What do you want?” You took a defensive stance, backing away as she stepped forward.
“I’m the one that lifted you from your torment.” She said it like it was obvious. “You’re free now.”
“You think I’m going to fall for that again?” You scoffed. “You must be getting a little rusty, Lavina. Have to say, I like this face more than the old one.”
“My name is Amara. We have a friend in common.”
“Let me guess; Lucifer? Well tell the dark lord if he’s up for round two, I can handle-”
“Dean Winchester.” She interrupted, making you shut up. “He misses you. I want to give you back to him.”
“Why the hell should I believe you?” You growled. “Dean doesn’t even remember me.”
“You’re wrong.” She shook her head. This time, when she stepped towards you, you let her. “I can’t erase what they did to you in hell, but I can assure you that you are no longer in their grasp. Find Dean.” With that, she just vanished. Poof. Gone.
You didn’t have many options, so you just walked. You found a road and mindlessly walked beside it. Every step ached. You had numbed yourself for so long that every gust of wind felt like a thousand tiny needles stabbing your flesh. You weren’t sure if you were capable of feeling anything else. Only pain.
Headlights drew closer and closer, quickly joined by flashing blues and reds. You didn’t stop walking even when you heard the car door open and close.
“Ma’am are you alright?” The police officer’s voice cut through the night, but you barely heard it. Your ears just kept ringing with the sound of your own screams. You stopped and turned around. The woman was approaching you slowly with a look of sympathetic concern. Being naked and wide-eyed, it wasn’t hard to read her thoughts. But she had no idea the depth of violation you’d been through. You took a heaving breath.
“I need to find Dean Winchester.”
-
Now
“Dean!” Sam called, knocking on his older brother’s bedroom door. “Dean, we need to talk.”
“Sam, not now.” Dean groaned, opening the door just enough to give him a glare. “I really don’t want to talk or deal with any of your other hippy healing crap.”
“It’s Jody.” Sam pushed inside without giving him time to object. “She said she needs us in Sioux Falls right away.”
“Did she say why?”
“No, but she sounded pretty freaked. Apparently, she’s been trying to get a hold of us for a while, but things kept coming up or we weren’t answering.” Sam sighed, running his fingers through his hair.
“To be fair, our mom came back from the dead and you were being tortured by that British bitch.” Dean countered, feeling guilty for ignoring Jody’s calls. “What did you tell her?”
“That we’ll be there before morning.”
Dean nodded in agreement.
“I’ll pack a bag, you tell mom we’re leaving.”
“I think she should stay here.” Sam suggested, keeping his voice down like it was a secret. Dean gave him a strange look.
“What? Why?”
“She needs to adjust, Dean. Maybe giving her just a few days to herself here in the bunker will help her do that. Besides, we don’t know what’s going on and it could be dangerous and I…” He sighed. “I just don’t think she needs any more excitement right now.” Dean thought for a moment before he nodded.
“Alright, tell her that we’ll hopefully be back in a few days and that she can call us or Jody if she needs anything.”
By the time the two brothers got packed up and ready to go, a dark feeling had settled deep inside Dean’s chest. Something felt off. It sunk into his lungs and into throat, as if a shadow was trying to strangle him. When Sam climbed into the passenger seat, his brother looked white as a sheet.
“You okay?” Sam wondered, half tempted to ask if he should drive, but he didn’t want to get punched.
“Something about this feels wrong, Sam.” Dean muttered, shaking his head as he started the car.
“What, do you think it’s a trap?” It wasn’t totally out of the realm of possibility. With the British Men of Letters and Lucifer out there, it wouldn’t be that shocking that someone was out to get them. But Dean shook his head.
“I don’t know what it is, but with the buckets of crazy we’ve been through, I don’t think it’s good.” The two let that sink in, pulling out onto the road. Hoping to distract himself, Dean switched on the radio. Both brothers froze as the beginning words made Dean grip the steering wheel. Chuck sure had a cruel sense of humor on today of all days.
Sister Christian, oh the time has come…

Heaven is you
This was an idea i had for Rayla's birthday and the outline seemed too wholesome to not do it lol. It has family feels and rayllum being soft as always. Read it on ao3.
Summary: Rayla always remembers her past birthdays with fondness. But this one in particular has brought her an abundant amount of joy, filling her heart with the purest of loves.
Or a recollection of Rayla’s birthdays through the years.
i.
Rayla always remembers her past birthdays with fondness.
She recalls being four and waking up to her mum’s soft voice in her ear, a happy birthday, my love being lovingly murmured in the air. She would pretend that she was asleep, cracking one eye open from time to time and doing her best to contain in her laughter as her mother would start to rub her hair soothingly to wake her up. But she would burst into a fit of giggles before her mum could say anything else — even though Rayla is pretty sure she saw past her flimsy excuse of a stoic facade — and her mother would start to laugh alongside her, tickling her belly and asking her when has her little moonbeam gotten this sneaky.
She hadn’t, obviously.
She’d scoop her in her arms and they would go downstairs where her dad would be cooking her favorite breakfast — he’d always go all out when it was her birthday. And he’d see them still laughing as they approached, he’d see them — his two favorite people ever — and he’d come up to them, lifting her in his arms and making her laugh, telling her that today she chose what they would do because today was all hers. Because he’d move earth and sky for his tiny warrior.
And she remembers the glimmer in her mum’s eyes, her father’s beaming smile, her own expression mirroring theirs; she remembers feeling loved, safe, and content.
ii.
Rayla recalls being eleven and coming back after nearly an entire day of training to a cake on the dining table, a sole candle lit on its center, and a neatly folded paper resting beside it. It was rather late, her whole body ached as the practice had been a vigorous one, but upon seeing the homemade gateau she no longer felt the ever consuming exhaustion. No, she felt lighter, more at ease.
Ethari had been sporting the warmest of smiles, his eyes showing every bit of love towards his foster daughter who they had come to care for as their own. Runaan had walked over to where his husband was and stood right next to him, somehow matching his emotion almost instantly — he had been sort of tense before leaving the meadow — and they had wished her the happiest of birthdays, holding her tightly in their embrace, muttering words of comfort and pride and love.
She remembers thinking that there was still a void in her heart as the aftermath of her parents’ absence, but being there surrounded by her two guardians that loved her an abundant amount and whom she loved as much in return, that showed her day after day their support and their care was enough to bring her solace.
She had felt love all the same.
And she always looked forward to reading her parents’ letter at the end of the end. The words were like a warm hug from afar. She became misty-eyed and held the letter close to her heart for hours as if she was keeping her parents in a safe place near her heart.
iii.
She recalls being sixteen and sitting alone in the Xadian forest. She had been wounded and restless, tired and alone. Everywhere and everything hurt, but ironically she had felt numb from head to toe. Somewhere in the back of her mind she vaguely remembered what that day was supposed to be.
And the bittersweet afterthought made matters worse because then the pang in her chest was just a little too hard to ignore.
Rayla had felt cold and empty, being alone with her thoughts was as harmful as it sounded and the unbecoming urge to cry was getting hard to suppress. But she ended up shedding tears, letting them fall freely as they have been welling up and contained in since much too long ago.
It was her birthday, and she had tried to forget it, making herself not feel, perhaps then the pain would subdue.
It hadn’t.
iv.
It was her birthday and she couldn’t get the royal physician’s words out of her head. They were spinning, echoing, repeating themselves. And she felt equal amounts of excitement and trepidation all at once.
Congratulations Your Highness, you’re with child.
They have been trying, of course, they have, so the news shouldn’t be such a surprise to hear that their efforts had actually turned out fructiferous. But they have, and she didn’t know how to assimilate them without cutting the appointment short and leaving a very confused physician behind, one who was patiently waiting for a reaction out of her.
Because she was excited and elated and so beyond happy that it was taking a lot of willpower to remain seated and not run off to find Callum.
“Your Highness? Is everything all right?”
She blinked, “Of course.” Rayla offered them a smile. How could it not be, honestly?
And after a couple of recommendations and how they’d like to see her in the span of a few weeks — after all, the babe was still a halfling and the pregnancy was to be monitored constantly for that matter — they bid her goodbye with another well-meaning congratulation on the way.
Rayla couldn’t help the fast pace in which she was walking nor the beaming smile from breaking out.
“Oh, there you are! I’ve been looking nonstop for you. What did the physician say?” She heard Callum’s voice round the corner; the worried tone of her husband of three years was enough to make her smile deepened because he was just the sweetest person ever and she just knows that he’s going to be the best father out there.
And the mere thought was enough to make her heart burst with adoration.
He took a couple of steps forward and placed one hand on her cheek, gently rubbing his thumb back and forth, “Are you all right?”
“I’m pregnant.”
The words left her mouth before she had time to catch herself, before she had any time to dwell on how to tell him, but after they were out, she knows that there was no better way, no better time. Because seeing those expressive, loving eyes widen in realization, going through every emotion in the span of a second, how his hand stilled its movement on her cheek and how she heard his breath catch in his throat was as heartwarming as if she’d had outlined a grander plan in advance to break the big news to him.
“Really?” He whispered, barely audible.
She hummed.
“You are pregnant?”
She hummed again.
“There’ll be a tiny, perfect mix of the both of us in a couple of months?”
Rayla nodded unable to keep the grin off her face, her arms coming upwards to lace them loosely around his neck and raising herself on her tiptoes to breath small kisses across his cheek — damn those two inches he had gained on her. Their chests were pressed together, and she felt the deep rumble in his chest that soon turned into a peal of boisterous laughter that surely could be heard through the entire hallway. The sound was too contagious to not let out one of her own.
His arms came to encircle her waist, engulfing her in a tight hug, both of them shaking with laughter and happiness and pure delight.
“We’re having a baby.”
“We are.”
They pulled back slightly, faces inches away from each other’s, noses brushing against one another, breaths mingling in their shared space. She wanted to capture this blissful moment in a picture.
And then his lips slowly curved into a smug grin.
“Don’t.” Rayla raised a single brow, looking pointedly at him because she knew where his mind had headed in a matter of seconds. And because she also remembers rather vividly exactly what he had thought about — it had been a very nice anniversary gift, after all. It had carried the promise of fervent love, a burning passion, and a couple’s desire of at last starting a family.
He let out an amused laugh, “I didn’t even say anything!”
“You didn’t have to, I practically saw you thinking about it!” She rolled her eyes playfully and crossed her arms over her chest, letting out a huff in faux disbelief at her husband’s antics. They locked gazes, grass green meeting amethyst violet, a glimmer in both of them. They couldn’t help the small laugh thereafter.
His eyes softened as the laughter ceased, pulling her closer by the waist and planting one tender kiss on the lips, feeling all the love conveyed in such a small action and trying to reciprocate as much as she was receiving.
“I love you.” She said lovingly when they parted, her hands coming up to cup his jaw in a light grasp.
He brought one hand to his lips, kissing the underside softly, “I adore you.”
Rayla knows that it wouldn’t be easy, parenting — motherhood— never was as the rising self-doubts, the exhaustion of both mind and body, the anxiety of diving into the unknown, and all the possible mistakes that were bound to be made. But, she thinks, as long as they have each other — and everyone else who has been there for that matter — this baby would be raised with abundant love and affection. She'd make sure of it.
It was superfluous to say that this birthday by far had brought her one of her greatest joys. A surprise that couldn’t be topped by any other.

Chapter 1
At Camp Lehigh the new recruits were met by their Sergeant, who escorted them to their quarters. There it was explained to them that as they were to form part of a programme run by the Strategic Science Reserve, a separate unit from the rest of the army training at the base, but more would become clear in an hour or so when they reported for exercise. They were then issued their standard uniform, which was awkward for Steve as even the smallest sizes felt like they drowned him but he shrugged it off reminding himself that he had finally done it. He was here, training to be a soldier.
He changed and then Sergeant Duffy appeared again, barking at them to fall in line and they followed him down to an exercise field at the rear of the barracks. Here they once more lined up, Steve taking his place in between teo men whose names he couldn’t remember and they stood, waiting.
“Recruits, attention!” A female voice called and Steve felt his mouth drop open, because he knew the owner of said voice. “Gentlemen, I’m Agent Stark, this is Agent Carter.” He turned to face Katie as she began walking down the line, dressed in a sharp army uniform with another woman at her side and a man behind them both who was clutching a box which contained clip files. As she reached Steve, Katie stopped and looked at him, giving him a bashful, almost apologetic smile as the other woman continued to walk.
And wait. Her surname was Stark? As in, Howard Stark? Was that her husband? Had he kissed a married woman? Fuck! Steve swallowed his worry down and averted his eyes as Katie passed down the line following Agent Carter, their eyes flicking to each man in turn.
“We supervise all operations for this division.” Agent Carter spoke in a strong British accent before she was interrupted.
“What’s with the accent, Queen Victoria?” A man further down the line stated rather obnoxiously, causing Agent Carter to stop. Katie drew up alongside her, and Steve watched as, Katie’s hands fell to her hips and she studied the man who’d spoken out of line. “Thought I was signing up for the U.S. Army!”
“What’s your name, soldier?” Agent Carter asked.
“Gilmore Hodge, your Majesty.”
At that the two women exchanged a glance and Agent Carter took a deep breath. “Step forward, Hodge.”
The man obliged, a smirk on his face as he looked around a little, no doubt to check everyone was watching.
“Put your right foot forward.” Agent Carter instructed.
“Mmm… we gonna wrestle? Cause I got a few moves I know you’ll like.” Hodge spoke, before puckering his lips up in a kissing gesture.
Then, there was a flurry of movement and in a flash Katie was behind him, jerking his arm up his back. She aimed a sharp kick to the back of his knee causing Hodge to stumble to the floor. She went with him, her knee planted firmly in the base of his spine, arm twisting even more and he gave out a yell, “Okay, okay I yield.”
Steve gave a little huff of laughter, as did the man to his right as Katie stood up, not a hair out of place and smoothed down her jacket and trousers as Hodge rose to his feet. No sooner had he done that Agent Carter punched him hard, straight in the face.
And Steve laughed a little more this time, hastily straightening his face when he noticed a man, a Colonel according to the pips on his shoulders, hopping out of jeep as he barked to the two agents.
“Agent Carter, Agent Stark.”
Both of them wheeled round, springing to attention, saluting.
“Colonel Phillips.”
“Sir.”
“I see you’re breaking in the candidates. That’s good!” He nodded to the two women before he looked down at Hodge “Get your ass up out of that dirt and stand in that line at attention 'til somebody comes and tells you what to do.”
“Yes, Sir.” Hodge scrambled to his feet and slotted back into the place he’d been stood previously, looking a little sheepish.
Steve watched as Colonel Phillips started to walk down the line, addressing the new army recruits. “General Patton has said that wars are fought with weapons but they are won by men. We are going to win this war because we have the best men…” He paused a little at that point as he looked at Steve. Steve kept his face straight, looking directly ahead. He knew full well what the Colonel was thinking, but he was here to prove him wrong. “And because they’re gonna get better. Much better. The Strategic Scientific Reserve is an Allied effort made up of the best minds in the free world. Our goal is to create the best army in history. But every army starts with one man. At the end of this week we will choose that man. He will be the first in a new breed of super-soldiers. And they, will personally escort Adolf Hitler to the gates of Hell.”
Super-Soldiers? The end of the week? That was five days away! Steve could hear a few murmurs down the line as some of the recruits began to exchange glances.
“Did I ask any of you to talk?” Phillips barked and silence fell once more. “The man we select will go through a procedure,” he continued, “an experimental procedure that, if successful, will significantly enhance his physical stature, amplifying all his qualities and abilities. This is not something we take lightly. It is for this reason that you will be assessed not just on your current physical abilities but your mental capacity and it won’t be easy. So if any of you are having second thoughts,” he once more paused at Steve who, as before, ignored him, “speak now or forever hold your peace.”
No one made a sound.
***** Whilst Steve didn’t have much time to think about Katie for the rest of the day as most of his energy was taken by keeping up with the afternoon’s exercise, he found himself with plenty of time to think about her over dinner. He kept himself to himself, taking a seat at the end of a large table in the mess hall, unable to prevent the sullen mood he found himself in.
He knew it was stupid, as he hardly knew the dame, but he felt betrayed, and if truth be told a little confused. Betrayed at the fact she’d kept her true identity and vocation from him, confused as to why she’d kissed him, especially if she was married and knew they’d end up working together. It confounded his original opinion that she’d done it out of some kind of obligation, a thank you if you will for him stepping in that day on the street. Not that he needed to step in, it was perfectly clear now she’d been able to handle herself.
He looked down at the tasteless bully beef and dumplings, before he sighed and continued to eat. Whilst he wasn’t particularly hungry he knew that he had to keep his strength up, especially if he wanted to have any chance to complete the training that was in store tomorrow. When he’d had his fill, he took the tray over to the clear down area and headed outside into the warm New Jersey evening.
It was still light, the birds in the trees singing their melodic evening chorus as Steve headed over the camp towards the sleeping barracks he and the other Project Rebirth candidates had been assigned to. He trudged down the dirt path, hands in his baggy uniform pockets when he heard Katie shouting to him. Taking a deep breath, he stopped, and turned to face her, saluting.
“Agent Stark.”
“Woah, at ease, we ain’t on parade now!” She shook her head.
“Yes Ma’am.” He dropped his arm but kept it firmly by his side, still standing to attention, focussing on a spot slightly behind her.
“What’s with the Ma’am?” She frowned but Steve ignored her question. Her frown deepened and she cocked her head to one side. “Wait, are you angry at me?” Steve’s eyes flicked to hers for a second and he swallowed looking away causing her to sigh. “Steve, I…”
“You lied to me.” He blurted out, his eyes returning to hers and she frowned.
“No, I just didn’t tell you my full story.” She shrugged, lamely.
“Where I come from that’s called lying.”
“Oh come on, Steve, it’s not like you actually asked what I did for a living!”
“I asked if ya worked for Howard Stark.” He folded his arms. “And you said you did.”
“Well, I do, sorta…”
“Oh, is that as well as sorta being married to him?”
“Married?” Katie’s eyes narrowed before they widened again and she grinned. “What, you think…oh my God Steve!” She let out a laugh.
“You know, I’ve had my fill of people laughing at me today.” He rolled his eyes and turned to leave, an angry flush spreading up his neck.
“Howie’s my brother!”
“Your brother?” He stopped dead.
“Yes, you know, same mom, same dad.”
Steve groaned, feeling like a total, total idiot and after a moment or two of cursing himself he turned back to face her, his face bashfully tinged red. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Tell you what?”
“That you were related? Or what it is that you actually do?”
“Because I didn’t know I was supposed to.” She looked at him. “Plus, I kinda liked not being Agent Katie Stark for a moment and just being, I dunno, some regular girl.”
Steve looked at her again before he glanced away, not quite sure what had come over him. He’d literally never had a conversation with a woman that lasted longer than a few minutes, if that, and here he was for the second time with her just rolling with it, and not just that, he was actually being a little rude. His ma would not be happy.
“I’m sorry.” He offered, his manner contrite. “That was rude. I guess, well, it was just a shock, that’s all.”
“Do you know how people usually react when I tell them what I actually do?” Katie sighed, shaking her head “Most guys run a mile.”
“Well, I’m not like most guys.” Steve instantly retorted, repeating the sentiment she had expressed to him mere days ago. She blinked a little, before she gave a huff of laughter and dropped her eyes to the floor.
“Touche, Rogers. Touche.”
“Can I ask you something?” Feeling emboldened Steve asked hastily, before he chickened out.
“Sure.” She nodded.
“Did you know? That I was gonna be here, I mean.”
“Not for certain.” Katie shook her head. “I had an idea when you told me it was a doctor from a Science Division that had recruited you but until I saw your name on the new-recruit roster this morning, I didn’t know for sure.”
“Right.” Steve nodded, licking his lips a little.
“Does it matter?” Katie frowned.
“Not especially.” He popped a shoulder. “Just kinda figured that if you knew you’d be seeing me each day, you wouldn’t have…you know…”
“Kissed you?”
“Yeah, that.” Steve felt the heat rise in his neck as he thought back to that moment. He ran his hand through his hair in a nervous fashion. “I mean I know you probably did it because you either felt kinda sorry for me or like you hadda thank me but this has gotta be awkward for you right? Seeing me every day as a reminder, but it’s not like I told anyone so-“
“Woah, woah, stop!” Katie shook her head, stepping towards him. “Steve, I don’t care who you told. I’m not embarrassed if that’s what you think.”
“You’re not?”
“No!” Katie looked at him like he was stupid. “And I didn’t kiss you because I felt sorry for you or because I felt I owed you, I kissed you because I wanted to.”
“You wanted to.” Steve looked at her, not quite sure if he believed her or not.
“Is that so hard to comprehend?”
“Frankly, yes!” He snorted. “I mean, look at ya. You’re…” he gestured with his hand towards her. “And I’m…”
“Well lucky for you I’m not a shallow bimbo then isn’t it?” She said, an air of annoyance in her tone. “I might be a Stark, and yes, I’m privileged which means I’m expected to act a certain way with a certain type of man from a certain type of background. Maybe I just wanna act how I wanna act, with who I choose. And your assumption right then? That’s exactly why I didn’t tell you.”
“Katie, I didn’t-” But even by the time he’d finished half his sentence, she’d turned on her heel and left “-mean it like that.” He finished a little lamely, watching her go. His hands dropped to his bony hips and he glanced at the floor, toeing the dirt slightly before he looked up and around.
He felt so out of place, the one thing he’d wanted to do and now he was here he felt as small and as insignificant as he had ever felt. And to top it off, he’d just upset probably the one person he could have relied upon for support. But it was more than that. He felt guilty, guilty that he’d upset her and made assumptions about her, when he actually in all fairness knew nothing about her. He’d judged a book by its cover, which was what he hated everyone doing to him. With a final groan he turned and headed back towards the sleeping quarters, to unpack the small chest of belongings he’d brought with him.
If today was anything to go by, it was going to be a long week.
***** Long was an understatement.
By Monday morning, Steve had done five different physical assault courses, various runs loaded with equipment, taken part in a number of logic puzzles, had a one on one interview with Colonel Phillips, completed written, arithmetic and geography tests and been subject to another medical examination. He was now on a fuck knows how many miles drill run, being barked at once more by Sergeant Duffy.
“Pick up the pace, ladies! Let’s go!”
Steve was running as fast as he could, but still lagged ten or fifteen yards behind the main formation of the group. His legs ached, his chest hurt but he was damned if he was giving up.
"Double time! Come on! Faster! Faster! Move! Move!” Sergeant Duffy instructed as they rounded the corner of the dirt path, drawing up behind a jeep which was parked by a flag pole surrounded by white rocks on the ground. “Squad, halt!”
Finally, Steve could catch his breath. He bent over, hands on his knees as he inhaled deeply, watching the group of men as they gathered around their leader.
“That flag means we’re only at the halfway point.”
Half way? Great…just great.
“First man to bring it to me gets a ride back with Agent Carter. Move, move!”
Steve pushed his helmet back up his head, remaining where he was simply watching as the entire unit all tried to climb the pole. It was a free for all, men pushing each other out of the way, elbows flying, fists flailing. Steve however scanned the pole up and down, his brain logically thinking it through. There had to be a way to get that flag down without having to climb the pole, otherwise how did they put it up there in the first place?
“If that’s all you got, this army’s in trouble!” Duffy snapped “Get up there, Hodge! Come on! Get up there!”
Hodge, who had made it a few feet further than everyone else slid down to the ground and Duffy stood back, his arms folded, smirking a little. “Nobody’s got that flag in seventeen years!” He shook his head “Now fall back into line! Come on, fall in!”
That signalled the end of the little pole exercise, but not for Steve. As everyone cleared away he walked towards it, glancing first at the bottom of the pole, then up to the top, squinting slightly against the sun. If he was right…
“Rogers! I said fall in!” Duffy barked, but Steve ignored him as he bent down and pulled the pin out at the bottom of the pole causing it to fall with a loud crash to the ground in a cloud of dust. He tossed the pin to the floor with a clang as everyone fell silent, watching as he removed the flag from the rope which held it to the pole. He handed it to Sergeant Duffy on his way past.
“Thank you, sir.” He said gently as he climbed into the back of the jeep. Agent Carter turned to face him from her seat in the front and he shot her a smile which she returned, an amused look spreading across her features.
Steve was damned glad of that ride home as, following lunch, they were subjected to another physical activity, this one a seemingly endless circuit training involving star jumps, push up, sit ups you name it.
“Faster, ladies!” Agent Carter barked, as they were all busy doing push ups “Come on. My grandmother has more life in her, God rest her soul. Move it!”
A few more sets and she barked at them to get up, which they obeyed, springing to their feet just as Agent Stark arrived with Colonel Phillips and Dr Erskine. The three of them were clearly mid some debate, Katie looked a little annoyed and turned to Phillips snapping at him, her face flashing with anger. Erskine put his hand on her shoulder and shook his head gently and she rolled her eyes, turning away and looking over towards the group of men. She locked eyes with Steve who watched her for a second, before Agent Carter’s voice hit his ears and he began the jumping jacks she had instructed them to partake in.
“Come on, girls.”
Steve had no idea how many he did, but he continued going, his arms and legs both spreading and then coming back together as he made jump after jump. He grit his teeth, powering through the burn he was feeling in his muscles, tossing his head out of the way slightly as his dog tags bounced off his chest after a particularly energetic leap, smacking him straight in the nose.
And then he heard it.
“GRENADE!”
All logic flew from Steve’s head and as the rest of the unit scattered he instinctively dived towards the explosive, covering it with his body, curling his knees into his chest in an attempt to minimise the impact to everyone round him.
“Get away!” He yelled, waving his arm as Agent Carter ran towards him, “get back!”
He remained curled in on himself, waiting and waiting but nothing happened. Eventually he looked up, to see everyone was slowly starting to go back to normal and he sat up, frowning a little, his mouth hanging slightly open.
“It was a dummy grenade. All clear. Back in formation.” Someone spoke as Steve glanced first at Agent Carter then over to Phillips and Erskine and finally Agent Stark. As his eyes met hers a smile crossed her face and a flash of something that looked suspiciously like pride filled her pretty features.
“Is this is a test?” He asked as he sat on the floor, completely bemused at what had just happened.
Katie tore her eyes from his to turn to Dr Erskine who was also smiling and they both simultaneously moved their attention to Colonel Phillips. He shot them both a withering look as he spoke before he turned to walk away. As he passed Katie he stopped, pointed to Steve who was now getting to his feet and she nodded, saluting.
Erskine beamed at Steve before he turned to follow Phillips away, once again patting Katie’s shoulder as he left. Steve dusted himself down and then simply watched as Katie walked over to Agent Carter, his eyes following her every move. She whispered something to the other woman who raised her eyebrows, a soft smile crossing her face. Both women then looked at him, before Peggy gave Katie a curt nod as she called the remaining soldiers back into line.
“Private Rogers,” Katie spoke, her eyes soft as she glanced at him, “with me.”
“Ma’am.” He scrambled after her, tripping over his feet slightly as he hurried to catch up with her, glancing back at the line of men who were now being addressed by Agent Carter before she dismissed them all.
“What…where are the rest of the guys goin’?” he began to ask and Katie turned to look at him as he fell into step besides her, to her left.
“They’re leaving.”
“Leaving?” Steve frowned.
“Yup.” Katie nodded as she led him across the training field and onto the gravel track. “They’ll be re-assigned to other units.”
“Other units?” Steve frowned, before her words finally registered “You mean…”
Katie stopped and turned to look at him, smiling as she brushed some of the dirt from his shoulder. “Congratulations. You’re gonna become our first Super Soldier.”
Steve blinked, swallowed and then shook his head. “Is this a joke?”
“No.” Katie shook her head. “I can assure you this is deadly serious.” She took a deep breath and turned to walk down the track to her right.
“Why me?” Steve blurted out as they rounded a row of military jeeps
Katie smiled at him “The fact you’re even asking that should tell you everything you need to know. But if you really want the detailed answer, you should ask Abe.”
“Who?”
“Dr Erskine.”
“Okay, I will, where is he?” Steve looked round almost as if he expected the Doctor to appear form behind the munitions store they were passing.
“I suspect on his way to Brooklyn to meet Howie at the lab.” Katie replied “He’ll be back later so you can talk to him then.”
“The lab’s in Brooklyn?” The surprise was evident in Steve’s voice as Katie led him to one of the large green dome like structures that housed the offices. “So that’s why you were there that day.”
Katie grinned. “Not just a pretty face, are ya?” She stood still, snapping to attention and saluted to the guard on the door who immediately saluted back.
“Agent Stark.” He greeted as he stepped to his right, opening the door for them both to step into. Steve followed behind her down a long corridor. They turned left at the end and Katie stopped outside a door to their right which held a name tag informing them that it was Colonel Phillips’ office. She gave a sharp rap, and then without waiting for an answer opened the door and stepped in, Steve following.
The Colonel looked up as they entered the room, placing the pen he’d been writing with down on his desk.
“Shut the door.” Phillips barked and Steve scrambled to do as he was told before he drew himself up tall and saluted his superior. “At ease, Rogers.”
“Sir.” Steve nodded and relaxed as much as he could. At that point there was another knock on the door and he turned to see Agent Carter step inside.
“Ma’am.” Steve nodded to Peggy who smiled at him.
“So, I’m assuming Agent Stark has given you the low down?” Phillips spoke and Steve turned back to him, giving a nod.
“Yes, sir.”
“Good, saves me a job.”
“When don’t I?” Katie quipped and Steve’s eyes widened at the fact she’d basically just sassed a superior officer. There was a moment’s pause before Phillips snorted.
“One of these days, Agent Stark, that mouth is gonna get you into trouble.”
“I look forward to it.”
Phillips shot her another look which she met with a smirk and he scoffed a little, turning his attention to Steve. “So, Rogers, Dr Erskine has chosen you as the candidate to become our first Super Soldier.”
“It’s an honor, Sir.”
“Do you have any questions?” Peggy looked at Steve.
Steve pondered for a second. Truth be told he had a lot of questions, but the biggest one, the why, that was going to have to wait for Dr Erskine himself. He took a deep breath and looked up at the Agent before his eyes flicked to Colonel Phillips, and back again.
“What does the procedure actually entail?”
“Agent Stark, you wanna take this?” Phillips looked at her and she nodded.
“You’ll be injected with Erskine’s formula.” Katie looked at Steve “This will cause immediate change to your cells, your DNA. Then to stimulate the change and growth, you’ll be subjected to an intense permeation of Vita-Rays, in a chamber that my brother and Erskine developed especially.”
“Is it safe?” Steve asked.
Katie took a deep breath and shrugged. “On the animal test subjects we’ve used, yeah but I’m not gonna lie to you Steve, other than a Nazi scientist named Johan Schmidt the serum hasn’t been tested on any human subject.”
“What happened to this Schmidt guy?” Steve asked and Katie looked at Phillips, then Peggy, and when she turned back to him he swallowed a little at the look of apprehension on her face.
“It didn’t go the way he planned, but that said the formula was incomplete. Erskine will be able to tell you more tomorrow.” She answered softly. Steve thought on her words for a moment, his eyes still locked onto hers as she licked her lips, offering him nothing but a shrug. “In simple terms, we don’t know if it’s gonna work or not. So you need to think carefully.”
“When is it gonna happen?”
“The procedure will take place tomorrow morning.” Agent Carter spoke. “So you have little over fourteen hours.”
“So despite what Agent Stark says,” Phillips spoke, shooting Katie a look which she met with an equally annoyed one of her own, “there’s little to no time for contemplation.”
“There’s fourteen hours…” Katie began to protest.
“Did I ask for your input?” Phillips snapped and she narrowed her eyes.
“No, you never do. Maybe if you did we-“
“If you want to remain part of this unit you’ll stop that sentence right there.” Phillips pointed at her. Katie’s mouth pressed into a thin line and she folded her arms, shaking her head as she looked away. Steve’s eyes turned back to Phillips who spoke. “If you want out, now is the time to speak up so we can find someone else. Are you in, Rogers? Because if you are, after this meeting and you leave this room, there’s no going back.”
“But I’ve only had like five days of basic training.” Steve frowned “Is that going to be enough?”
“We’re on a schedule.” Phillips shrugged, “It’s going to have to be.”
“Your basic training, or lack thereof, shouldn’t be a problem.” Peggy shook her head “Our intention is to continue to train you up fully so that you’re prepared to lead the others who we, well, who we convert.”
Steve took a deep breath and glanced once more at Katie, who was staring to her left, her jaw set. Was he in? He began to logically step through things in his head. Steve wasn’t an idiot, he knew full well that if he said no he’d be shipped off to another unit and likely sent home or shoved into some kind of non-combat role due to his current lack of physical abilities or strength. The serum might not work, but then what? He ended up deformed? Or dead? But if he was perfectly honest with himself, having had a taste of what it was like to do what he always wanted to, if the opportunity was taken away from him, he might as well be dead anyway.
It was a no brainer as far as he was concerned. He had to do this.
“I’m in.” Steve nodded, his voice loaded with conviction as he gave a firm nod.
To the side of him Katie took a deep breath, an action mimicked by Colonel Phillips, before the older man turned to Agent Carter who stepped to the side revealing a piece of paper on the desk.
“In that case then I need you to sign this.” Phillips said “It’s a form stating that you consent to the procedure. Just a formality that Stark is insisting on.”
“God forbid we do things properly.” Katie mumbled. Phillips shot her another withering glare before he waved a pen at Steve. Steve stepped forward, took the pen off him and glanced down at the form. His eyes scanned it and then, without further hesitation he scribbled his name on the space at the bottom.
“Congratulations Private Rogers.” Phillips nodded as Agent Carter moved to place the form in a filing cabinet at the back.
“So, now what do I do?” Steve asked.
“You can do what the hell you want, within reason.” Phillips shrugged “But you can’t leave base, can’t risk anything happening to you. Not now.”
“By the time you get back to your barracks, everyone else will have packed up and left so I suggest you make the most of the peace and quiet.” Agent Carter smiled. “Because you’re going to be pretty busy from Tomorrow onwards.”
Steve nodded to show he understood and then he was dismissed. Saluting to Phillips he turned to leave the room, followed by Katie who herself was leaving to see her brother.
“Is there anything in particular you’d like to eat tonight?” She asked him as they left the building. “And I don’t mean any of the shit they serve in the mess.”
Steve looked up. “I suppose some of Mrs Tromley’s home made preserve is out of the question?”
“Leave it with me.” She smiled and Steve looked at her for a second before he took a deep breath.
“Look, Agent- Katie, I err, wanted to apologise for my outburst the other night. I was rude and…”
“It’s okay, I don’t hold a grudge.” She paused and turned to face him. “Alright that’s a lie, I do. But only against people who deserve it.”
“And I don’t?” Steve asked with a slight smile and she shrugged.
“For now, no. Plenty of time for me to change my mind though.” And with that, just as she had done at the expo she turned and left him standing there, tossing him a wink over her shoulder as she walked away.
*****
Katie came through with the preserve, a small jar along with a crusty cob of bread was waiting in his bunk later that evening when he returned from the bathroom cabin. He ate sat on his bed, mulling everything over in his mind before he stood up and decided to go for a walk. He found a nice quiet spot hidden behind one of the munition sheds and sat to draw for a while, a particularly gnarled old tree the target of his attention. When the light diminished too much for him to see properly, he headed back and dropped his sketchbook into his rucksack before he settled down with a book open on his lap.
For the next few hours he tried to read but none of it was really sinking in. He had butterflies in his stomach, not nerves as such, but apprehension, definitely, at what he was letting himself in for. As he re-read the same sentence he’d been looking at for the last ten minutes, there was a knock at the door which made him jump slightly and he turned to look over his left shoulder as Dr Erskine stood in the doorway, a bottle and two glasses in his hand.
“May I?”
“Yeah.” Steve nodded, closing the book as Erskine walked over the floor, placing the glass on the trunk at the end of Steve’s bed.
“Can’t sleep?” Erskine asked as he moved towards the bed opposite Steve.
“I got the jitters, I guess.” Steve shrugged.
Erskine laughed “Me, too.”
“Can I ask you a question?” Steve dropped the book he had been reading down on the trunk next to the glass.
“Just one?” Erskine looked at Steve as he sat down facing him. Steve still had a lot of questions, but the one he wanted an answer to most was the one that flew out of his mouth.
“Why me?”
“I suppose that is the only question that matters.” Erskine said after a moment’s pause. He looked down at the bottle of schnapps he brought with him, turning the label so Steve could see it. “This is from Augsburg. My city. So many people forget that the first country that the Nazi’s invaded was their own.” He took a breath “You know, after the last war my people struggled. They felt weak. They felt small. And then Hitler comes along with the marching and the big show and the flags and the… and the… “ Erskine waved his hand as he took a deep breath, straightening his glasses “And he… he hears of me, my work and he finds me. And he says, ‘You’,” Erskine pointed to emphasise his point, “he says, ‘you will make us strong.’ Well, I am not interested.” Erskine shook his head as he placed the bottle on the floor between his feet, Steve’s eyes following his movements “So he sends the head of HYDRA, his research division. A brilliant scientist by the name of Johann Schmidt.”
That name Steve recognised from before, the one Katie told him about. He watched as Erskine continued talking, once more pushing his glasses up his nose. “Now, Schmidt is a member of the inner circle and he’s ambitious. He and Hitler share a passion for occult power and Teutonic myth. Hitler uses his fantasies to inspire his followers. But for Schmidt, it is not fantasy. For him, it is real. He has become convinced that there is a great power hidden in the Earth, left here by the Gods, waiting to be seized by a superior man. So when he hears about my formula and what it can do, he cannot resist.” Erskine paused as Steve looked at him, understanding immediately he was referring to Schmidt taking the formula. “Schmidt must become that superior man.”
Remembering what Katie had said, about it not going according to plan he looked at Erskine. “Did it make him stronger?”
“Yeah. But, there were other effects.” Erskine conceded, but didn’t elaborate further. “The serum was not ready. But more important, the man. The serum amplifies everything that is inside. So, good becomes great. Bad becomes worse.” He explained and Steve glanced down, taking all the information in “This is why you were chosen.”
At that Steve looked back up at him, his brow furrowing deeply as Erskine continued “Because a strong man, who has known power all his life, will lose respect for that power. But a weak man knows the value of strength, and knows compassion.”
“Thanks,” Steve said, frowning slightly, “I think.” He glanced at Erskine who smiled at him, and then waved in the direction of the two glasses on the trunk at the foot of the bed. As Steve took the glasses, pulling the top one out with his right hand, Erskine uncorked the schnapps and began to pour the liquid.
“Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing.” Erskine said, corking the bottle one more and setting it down on the floor “That you will stay who you are.” Erskine took a glass off Steve and stared straight into his eyes, almost as if he was trying to drive the message home. “Not a perfect soldier, but a good-“ he pointed at Steve’s chest “- man.”
Steve took a deep breath, holding his glass up and he allowed that fleeting warmth of pride spread across his chest, just for a second, as he smiled. “To the little guys.”
“Ha ha!” Erskine agreed, chinking his glass against Steve’s but just as Steve was about to take a drink Erskine suddenly spluttered. “No! No! Wait! Wait! What I am doing?” He reached out, taking Steve’s glass off him “No! You have a procedure tomorrow. No fluids.”
Seriously?
Steve watched as Erskine poured the contents of Steve’s glass into his own and sighed a little, he’d been looking forward to that.
“All right. We’ll drink it after.” He shrugged.
“No! I don’t have procedure tomorrow.” Erskine gestured towards himself. “Drink it after? I drink it now.”
Steve gave a small smile as the doctor knocked back the clear liquid in the glass and was just about to speak to tease him a little about making sure he had a clear head for the morning, when there was another knock on the door. Steve’s head turned to look as Katie stepped inside the dorm, smiling.
“Sorry, I didn’t know you had company.” She looked at Erskine whose mouth curled up a little at one side in a knowing smirk.
“And that is my cue to leave.” He stood up. “I will see you in the morning, Steven.”
He squeezed Steve’s shoulder as he strode past, the bottle of schnapps in his hand as Katie moved to allow him through the doorway. He smiled once more before he shut the door behind him leaving the pair of them in the dim light of the bare sleeping room. Steve looked at Katie, inhaling deeply as even in the simple combat trousers and plain khaki t-shirt she was wearing she still looked effortlessly gorgeous. Her hair was pulled back off her face in a simple braid, and her skin was devoid of her usual make up, lips clear of their normal bright red paint. He realised with a slight swallow that this is what she’d look like at home, last thing at night and first thing in the morning…
He shifted a little on the side of his bed and watched as she walked over to take the spot Erskine had vacated.
“Are you supposed to be in here?” Steve finally spoke and she shrugged.
“Well, it probably wouldn’t be seen as appropriate if we were caught but…” She paused and gave a twitch of a smirk, “Steve, you’re gonna become a super soldier tomorrow, you can do what the hell you want!”
He inhaled a little sharply at her words as those inappropriate thoughts once more reared in his head and he felt his neck and cheeks grow warm.
“You’re adorable when you’re flustered.” She smiled.
“Thanks?” he shook his head before he glanced up at her. “So why are you here?”
“I wanted to see how you were.” She shrugged.
“Why?” he frowned.
“Why?” She looked at him, as if he’d just asked her the dumbest question on the planet. “Because I care about you Steve.”
“You care about me?” He repeated, the disbelief evident in his tone.
“Yeah.” She shrugged. “Of course I do.”
Steve watched her for a moment, and for the first time he caught a glimpse of something a little less composed under her normally cool and confident exterior. She was biting her lip, her teeth worrying at her plump bottom one as her right hand gently pulled at the knuckles of her left.
“You’re nervous.” He spoke suddenly and her eyes locked onto his, her throat bobbing as she swallowed. “What is it?”
“Nothing, just, well, this is a huge thing, Steve. A culmination of years of work from not just the SSR but Stark Industries, and Erskine.” She looked at him and shook her head, giving a little snort. “God I know that sounds pathetic compared to what you must be feeling.”
“Well, I’m a little twitchy, that’s fo’ sure, but I’m not scared scared, does that make sense?” He asked and she looked at him, a smile twisting on her lips.
“That’s because you’re ridiculously brave.”
“Or stupid.” He shrugged and she laughed, shaking her head.
“That’s one word I really wouldn’t use to describe you. I heard about the flag.”
“Yeah?” Steve chuckled a little and she grinned.
“Peggy said it was the best thing she’d ever seen. No one’s rendered Sergeant Duffy speechless before but he was pretty impressed that night at briefing.”
“It was just logic.” Steve flushed, rubbing at the back of his neck. “I’m pretty good at using my head. You haff’ to be when you’re as small and as weak as I am.”
“Don’t.” Katie shook her head.
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t say that. You’re not weak.”
At that Steve gave a snort. “Come on Doll, physically I’m a wreck. That’s one of the reasons Erskine picked me.” no sooner had he spoke, he realised what he’d said and his eyes widen at the involuntary use of the pet term but Katie merely laughed, arching her brow.
“Doll?”
“Sorry Ma’am.” He winced “Just slipped out.”
“I’m flattered.” She chuckled, before giving a sigh. “But back to what you just said, about why Erskine picked you. It isn’t just because you’re physically weak. It’s because that serum amplifies everything about you Steve…”
“Yeah, good becomes great, bad becomes worse.” Steve repeated the words Erskine had spoken to him not five minutes ago.
“Exactly.” Katie looked at him. “Erskine could have chosen any one of the guys that were in here with you, but he didn’t. He saw something in you, something that none of the others had.” She bit her lip and grinned as she leaned back slightly on the bed. “You’re a lion disguised as a lamb, Rogers.” “Oh, jeez!” He snorted shaking his head as she laughed. “Now you sound like Bucky, that’s the kinda nonsense that jerk would come out with.”
At that Katie wrinkled her nose. “In that case I take it back.”
“Thank you, now I feel great.” Steve retorted sarcastically and she laughed loudly, snorting as she did so. Her eyes widened and she clamped her hand over her mouth as Steve chuckled at her very un-lady like manner, his head falling forward as his own laughs rang out around the barracks. Eventually, Katie managed to stop, wiping her eyes and she shook her head.
“Sometimes I think it’s a blessing my parents are no longer around. My mom especially would be horrified if they could see how uncouth I act at times.”
“I dunno.” He shrugged. “If you were my daughter I’d be pretty proud of how you turned out.”
Katie smiled shyly at his compliment. “Thanks Stevie. I’m sure yours would feel the same.”
He didn’t ask how she knew his parents were both dead, it was fairly obvious she would have read his file. Instead he simply smiled and looked down at his hands “I like to think so. Although I’m pretty sure if my ma was still around and knew what I was doing tomorrow she’d have a coupla’ things to say about it. And a few slaps ready for the back ‘o ma head!”
“Tell me about it.” Katie chuckled, “If my dad could see me here, right now. Man, he’d be apoplectic. ‘The army is no place for a woman’!” She mimicked a deep voice before she shook her head. “Mind you, not like I’ve never heard it before.” She took a deep breath and looked at him. “You’ve never commented on it though.”
Steve blinked and then shook his head, shrugging. “That’s not how my ma brought me up. She was a single parent for all my life, anything a man could do in the house she did just as well. Besides, I know what it’s like to be told no because of what or who you are.”
“Ironically, who I am kinda got me through the door.” Katie shrugged, and when Steve looked at her pondering what she meant, she continued. “I was already working for the CIA when Howie told me that Colonel Phillips had approached him about working for the SSR. Naturally I wanted in but of course there were grumbles about it because I was a female. But my brother put his foot-down, said we came as a team, so they relented. Plus, Peggy, or Agent Thirteen was she was then, was already in deep cover working for Schmidt as a maid in his personal mansion.” She licked he lips and shrugged. “Colonel Phillips convinced the CIA to send me undercover as Peggy’s friend, a go-between if you will meaning there was less risk of her cover being blown.” She paused and glanced at him as Steve simply watched, rapt with attention. “Over the next few months we obtained details of Schmidt’s plan, what he was intending to do with Erskine’s serum and we knew we couldn’t possibly let the Nazi’s perfect it. Since we rescued Erskine, he and Howard have been working on finishing the formula, building the necessary equipment to ensure that it works. And Peggy and I were given our reward which was permission to serve in the allied army as SSR Agents.”
“Permission?” Steve deadpanned and Katie snorted.
“Yup.”
“Interesting reward.”
“I’d have taken whatever chance they gave to me.” She shrugged. “It’s all I ever wanted to do.”
Steve looked at her, the similarities in their stories were striking even despite their different backgrounds. But he still didn’t get it. She was beautiful, could have married well, just like most gals of her status, and his confusion must have shown as she cocked her head to one side and studied him for a moment before she spoke again.
“Don’t you think I was right to do so?”
“No, I mean, yes I do. I guess I’m just curious as to why you’d wanna join the army if you’re a beautiful dame.”
At that both her eyebrows raised and he cursed himself. He’d managed most of this conversation so far not to put his foot in his mouth and now, wham, kicked himself straight in the teeth. “Or a beautiful… a woman.” He floundered for words “An agent, not a dame! You are beautiful, but…”
“Why do you get so nervous when you speak to me?” Katie asked and Steve shook his head, giving a little huff as she called him out, groaning a little.
“Because up until the point I met you I think the longest conversation I ever had with a woman would have been with Mrs Barnes or Mrs Tomley.” he looked up at her, before he glanced back down at his hands. “Women aren’t exactly lining up to dance with a guy they might step on.”
“You must have danced?” Katie frowned, and she seemed genuinely surprised at what he was admitting.
“Well, asking a woman to dance always seems so terrifying.” Steve shrugged “And the past few years just didn’t seem to matter that much. Figured I’d wait.”
“For what?”
“The right partner.” He said, his eyes still focussed on his hands. He could feel Katie looking at him and eventually he raised his eyes to see her smiling softly at him.
“Well, I think all the girls in Brooklyn are dumbasses for not noticing you.” With her words she stood up and crossed to the bed he was sat on, taking a spot besides him. Steve swallowed, his entire body going rigid at the fact she was so close to him and she turned her face to look into his eyes. “You’re sweet”
He chuckled “You know I hear that a lot…you’re really sweet and all but…“
“Like I said,” she bumped her shoulder against his slightly, “dumbasses”
Steve looked at her before he felt his cheeks once more growing warm and he looked away, hastily, focussing on nothing in particular as her words echoed around his head. He didn’t know how to respond to praise, not in the sense in which she was giving it to him anyway.
“But seriously, why does me complimenting you make you so awkward, Steve?” She asked, and despite himself Steve’s head shot up to look at her once more, his mouth falling open at the fact that she’d unwittingly just read his mind.
He took a deep breath. “I guess I’m not used to it, that’s all.”
“I’m sorry if it makes you feel awkward.” She bit her bottom lip and looked down at her hands for a moment before she glanced back at him, her features soft, eyes alive in the dim light. “But I just, well, I like you Steve,” she whispered, “I mean, really like you.”
Steve felt his mouth go dry as her eyes flicked down to his lips, the same way they had at the Expo and he swallowed, the lump thick in his throat.
“I err, I…” He took a deep breath, the palms of his hands feeling clammy, those green emeralds sparkling as he looked at her, his mind willing him to summon the courage to say what he wanted to. And before he could chicken out, he blurted the words. “I like you too.”
Her cheeks flushed pink and she gently moved towards him, closing the already small distance between them as Steve reached up, with a shaky right hand, his actions completely instinctual. He gently cupped her cheek as his lips found hers and he kissed her, tentatively at first before soon the kiss was as deep as it had been at the Expo. His spare hand balled into a fist by his side as he was unsure exactly what to do with it until he felt Katie’s fingers gently work his away from his palm and she pulled his left arm towards her. Following her lead, he tentatively pressed his palm onto her hip as she shifted her weight slightly, wrapping her arms round his neck. She pulled him closer, the kiss growing deeper and Steve couldn’t help the soft little whimper that rolled in his throat.
As the involuntary noise filed the air between them he felt Katie’s lips smile against his and then, he was pitching forward as she fell slowly backwards, pulling him down with her as she sank onto the bunk. The movement came as surprise but he didn’t resist. With a shaky breath he paused for a moment, realising he had absolutely no idea what to do next other than run with it. So, after a second or so more deliberation, he went once more with his gut and crawled over her, resting his weight on his palms which he placed either side of her head before he dropped his face to hers and kissed her again. Her lips felt so soft against his, something he wasn’t sure he’d taken the time to appreciate before, or maybe it was all simply heightened by the fact he was lay over her, he had no idea. But what he did know was that when Katie placed both hands on his face, the pads of her finger tips cupping his jaw, it sent a jolt of electricity tingling all the way down his spine. She was the one to break away this time, breathing deeply as her head rest on his hard, army issued pillow, her eyes bouncing across both of his.
“You okay?” She asked and Steve nodded.
“Yeah, I err…” He swallowed and gave a little huff of shy laughter as he hung his head a little, peeking up a her shyly “I don’t know what I’m doing, or even if we should be doing it at all.”
“What do you mean if we should be doing it at all?”
“Well, we’re not…” He licked his lips “I mean, I should be taking you out, on a date or…well, at least doing things properly, not just…”
“Steve, we’re in the middle of a damned war.” Katie looked at him, cutting his protests off dead. “Every day could be your last, to hell with rules and being prim and proper.”
Steve had to concede she had a point, and as he looked into her eyes he could feel that last thread of his self-control starting to fray. Every inch of his body was on fire for her, he wanted nothing more than to kiss her stupid and feel her underneath him.
“Don’t over think it.” She muttered, her lips ghosting over his. “Just run with it.”
So he did. He kissed her hard, dropping to his elbows and pressing a little more of his weight on top of her, totally lost in her warmth and softness. He let out another soft sigh as he felt her shift underneath him and pulled away, turning his head so that his lips were inches from her neck as he recalled a part of a film he’d seen. He glanced up at her as she watched him, her pupils blown with a combination of lust and anticipation.
“Can I kiss you here?” He whispered softly.
“God, yes.” Katie sighed and he obliged, pressing his mouth to her neck. As he did so, his arms and hands moved downwards slowly, his fingers timidly resting on her hips as they gave a little jerk of their own accord, pushing up against him as she groaned slightly at the contact. Steve pulled back to stare at her again, her noise shocking him slightly, not sure what to do next but Katie wordlessly answered his silent question by tilting her hips up again, and this time it was him who moaned.
“Katie, I don’t want you to feel like you have to do this or do anything-”
“It’s okay,” she said, her voice low and slightly breathy as she looked at him, her eyes, locking onto his. She pushed her head upwards, mouth seeking his out as her hands slid under his t- shirt. He twitched under her touch as the sensation of her gently dragging her nails across his flat, soft stomach sent a spike of desire, like a red hot poker through his entire body. Katie grasped the bottom of his T-shirt and he hesitated, not sure if he really wanted her to see him topless, but she gave an impatient yank, taking the decision away from him and he held his arms up so she could remove it. Once he was free he glanced down to see Katie looking at his chest. He swallowed, as her eyes roved his various pox marks and scars and shivered as she let her hands wander, tracing a path down towards the top of his khaki pants. Her eyes met his and she sat up slightly pushing him back a little to allow herself enough room to reach down and pull her own T-shirt over her head.
Steve’s mouth was dry again as he glanced down at her chest, her hair falling around her shoulders, breasts spilling over the tops of the simple, black balcony cups of her bra and his groin twitched, the crotch of his pants now painfully tight.
“You’re beautiful…” he whispered gently, and then he kissed her again. Her fingers gently took his hands and she guided them onto her, sliding them up her rib cage to her chest and he froze as he found himself once more unsure of his next move. Swallowing hard against the lump that felt like it was obstructing his entire throat he began to gently squeeze and knead the soft flesh and black lace, before he stopped again to consider his next move.
“It’s okay,” she encouraged and with a nod, his hands slid into the cups, teasing her taught nipples with his thumbs, acting completely on instinct, listening and watching her as she groaned gently, arching her back, her reaction telling him he was doing something right as all the time his groin automatically bumped against hers. Katie buried her fingers in his hair, pulling hard, forcing his head back sharply and as she tugged he let out another low growl. When she let go he stared down at her to see her smirking, her pupils blown so wide there was hardly any green left.
“Don’t stop,” her hands moved down to grab at his lower back, pulling him back against her as she moved her knees, bending them so that his pelvis was flush with her, his cock hard through the thin fabric of his trousers. Taking her lead, Steve ground against her again, and again, and as he continued his movements, he became aware that the rhythm of his hips was becoming more frantic and their kisses were growing more desperate.
“More,” Katie moaned into his mouth, and with movements that were completely and utterly automatic he gave her what she wanted, moving his hips even faster, rubbing against her in ways that had her clutching at his back like her life depended on it. Steve had never felt anything like this in his life. It was so good, so right, in a way nothing had ever felt so right before. It should have been wrong, rutting up against someone fully clothed, but God, his head was a whirl of lust, desire, and he didn’t give a fuck about anything else at that moment other than her as she lay underneath him
As he pressed up against her, the tightening across his lower stomach that he’d only felt before when bringing himself off warned him he was fast approaching his release. He let out another groan as he felt his movements beginning to lose rhythm and he moved his lips to her neck, pressing a kiss to her skin. Katie moaned brokenly and his mouth continued pressing kisses to the spot on her neck which seemed to drive her wild. She tipped her head back as he gently nipped beneath her ear with his teeth and a few more sloppy grinds against her she was done, fingers wrapped around his hair, her, hips bucking upwards, almost violently. Her voice was broken as she gasped out “Stevie…”and it was the single most beautiful sound he’d ever heard in his life as it tumbled from her lips. Seeing and feeling her fall apart in his arms sent him over the edge right behind her in a pure surge of ecstasy, his head dropping to the crook of her shoulder and she gently ran her fingers through his hair.
There was no noise bar the sound of the crickets drifting in from the outside as they both lay, breathing deeply as they waited to regain control of their bodies, a light sheen of sweat beaded across Steve’s brow, wisps of his hair sticking to his skin. Finally mustering enough strength to move, he raised his head to look at her, to find her smiling as she pushed her head up, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
“Wow,” she breathed and Steve let out a soft huff of laughter as he sat up to allow her the space to do the same, “you got game Soldier, I’ll give you that.”
Steve snorted and shook his head as he passed retrieved her t-shirt from the floor and passed it to her. “I’ve never done anything like that before.” He shrugged “I erm…”
“Let you into a secret.” She said gently, pulling her top over her head, flicking her hair back as she looked at him, her cheeks flushed with exertion. “Neither have I. Well, not to that extent anyway.”
“What?” Steve frowned “You’ve never…”
“You expecting me to be some kind of wild harlot or sumthin’ Stevie?” She teased as she stood up, Steve scrambling to his feet mimicking her.
“No I just, pretty girl like you, I thought…”
“What was it you said about waiting for the right partner?” She asked before she gently kissed him again. When she pulled away, her nose bumped his slightly and she pressed her forehead to his. “I best go. I don’t wanna but…” she glanced at the window and looked back at him. “I’ll see you tomorrow at the lab.”
“Sure.” Steve followed her a little before she stopped in the doorway and turned to smile at him once more.
“Whatever happens I want you to know that you’re already one of the bravest men I’ve ever met.” She took a deep breath. “You suddenly becoming all big and strong and…well, whatever, won’t change the fact that you already had the heart of a hero, certainly in my eyes anyway.”
And Steve could do nothing but smile as she left the room, closing the door behind her.

Talking to the Moon (Billy Hargrove)
Another songfic. This one is based on "Talking to the Moon" by Bruno Mars
Word count: 2049 words
Warnings: a swear word I think?, mentions of death, description of death, this is basically fueled by angst, sad, mental illness I guess (I think that's it), allusions to sex
I may or may not have made myself cry while writing this
"I know you're somewhere out there" you whispered as you were seated in your driveway, leaning against a car, long abandoned. His car.
Denial. That's what one could call your situation. Struck with grief and pain, yet still not recognizing it.
"Somewhere far away, but that's okay I'll find you or maybe you'll find me." A sad smile traced your lips as your eyes began to water. You gazed at the starry night sky, the moon, shining as bright as ever, illuminating your frame.
You couldn't accept it. And why would you? Just to have your world shutter to pieces before your feet? No thanks!
"I want you back,"
It never happened. Not as long as you refused to believe it. It just had to be some cruel joke. IT HAD TO BE!
Slowly flashes of memories invaded your thoughts and unfolded before your eyes. The way he sacrificed himself in order to save all of you. The way he was impaled from all directions by the beast and how his blood soaked the white tank top he had been wearing that evening. The way his limp body dropped to the floor. How he just laid there unconscious in a puddle of of his own blood. How they had to drag you and Max away from his body, but you wouldn't budge. "No Billy! BILLY! Come on! D-don't do this to me! You can't just leave me here like that!" In that moment you either wanted him to wake up or to just lie down and leave this place with him, but you couldn't do that to your family and friends. And to think that fateful day was your anniversary as well. You quickly pushed your thoughts and trauma to the back of your mind.
"I want you back Billy, please just come back home." Slowly the silent tears started escaping your eyes.
A hand pat your shoulder causing your features to flash with hope. Yet, it wasn't him. "Come on you gotta go back inside" It was just your little brother. The hopeful glimmer in your eyes vanished as you slowly got up. "I know... I know" You muttered and when you had made it to the front door you glanced at the old car again, wiping at your face to dry the tears.
"(Y/n) do you wanna watch a movie or maybe meet up with the gang? They miss you." Your face contorted to one of agony and you flinched at the mention of the kids and some of your friends. However, you quickly tried to mask it up and flashed your brother a smile "Sorry Dustin, those are your friends I'm just your babysitter. Have fun though." You ruffled his hair and just like that you left your little brother standing in the hallway as you made a beeline for your bedroom.

My neighbors think I'm crazy. But they don't understand
Whenever you left the house you got weird or pitiful looks thrown in your direction. It was no wonder you stopped leaving the house. And quite honestly, you were beginning to feel better. You felt better, not because you finally accepted the decision fate had made, but rather because you started to drift off. Reminiscing about the good times and creating your own little world in your head where everything was just fine. Or maybe you were just feeling numb by now...
"You're all I had, you're all I had and you're all I'd ever need" you mumbled to yourself and to the night sky.
At night, when the stars light up my room. I sit by myself. Talking to the moon
You often sat on your windowsill as you told him all that happened on each day. Sometimes you'd rant about your job. Other times you'd ask him questions and beg him to come back to you.
Trying to get to you. In hopes you're on the other side, talking to me too
Could he even hear you? See you? Know you were trying to contact him somehow? If the upside down was real, then so was the chance he might be out there somewhere, right? It was a desparate last glimmer of hope you had left.
"Or am I a fool, who sits alone, talking to the moon? Maybe I am..." Oh

▪︎
I'm feeling like I'm famous, the talk of the town.
Of course you noticed the people watching you and talking about you behind your back. They say I've gone mad. Apparently they had nothing better to do than talk about you.
Yeah, I've gone mad. But they don't know what I know
One night when you were rambling into the night you heard his voice.
'Cause when the sun goes down, someone's talking back.
It was faint at first, but it got louder and steadier and sounded more like him.
Yeah, they're talking back, oh. At night, when the stars light up my room
And that was when hope returned to you. You left your room less and less, your family and friends growing more worried with each passing day. They barely got to see you.
I sit by myself. Talking to the moon
You didn't even notice how you neglected your needs.
Trying to get to you
You were too busy talking to him. Too busy to eat or sleep. To anxious that he'd be gone again if you left for too long.
In hopes you're on the other side, talking to me too
Your family was at their wits end. They didn't know how they could help you. But you didn't think you needed help. You had Billy and that was all that mattered to you.
Or am I a fool, who sits alone, talking to the moon?
Slowly your brain had repressed the trauma, leaving it on the threshold between consciousness and unconsciousness. The images of the distressing and traumatizing memories only appearing in your sleep. In your nightmare plagued sleep.
Do you ever hear me calling? (Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah) Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh. 'Cause every night, I'm talking to the moon
They were just nightmares, nothing more. After all he was here. What did you need sleep for when you could be awake and talk to Billy
Still trying to get to you
You had gotten lost in your own fantasy. A different reality where your boyfriend was still alive. Where he was still his usual cocky, jealous overprotective, but loving self, the one you fell in love with.
In hopes you're on the other side, talking to me too
Today was your anniversary. You dressed up nicely and left your room for the first time in forever. Describing your family as shocked when you left your room, went to grab a shopping basket and put on your shoes was an understatement. You flashed a bright smile at them when you saw them. "(Y/n)? What's got you in such a good mood? Are you going out?" Your mother was a little worried about your sudden change in demeanor, but quickly pushed those doubts aside. She was delighted at how happy you seemed. She didn't want to see in what bad shape you were, didn't want to notice how weird that smile looked on your exhausted posture or how that smile didn't actually reach your glassed over, dull (e/c) eyes. Eyes that shone bright with love, hope and life once. She didn't want to realize that you were just a shell of yourself.
What she did notice though, was the effort you put into looking nice today and that you actually wanted to leave your room and even the house.
"Yes mum, of course I'm in a good mood!" you exclaimed, you almost seemed like you were in some kind of trance. "It's our anniversary today. I'll go buy a few things to surprise Billy with his favourite dish for when he comes over later" and just like that you were out the door. Leaving your mother with confusion and worry written all over her face. Dustin had noticed the whole ordeal, however he did not choose to blatantly ignore your change in behaviour. "I have an idea, I know someone who might be able to help." Just like that your brother had left through the front door, sprinting to his friend's home.

Or am I a fool, who sits alone,
You had spent your afternoon cooking and baking for your boyfriend. You prepared everything, now all you had to do was wait for him.
talking to the moon? Oh
A grin made itself prominent on your face as you thought about your favourite anniversary, the one three years ago. The weather was nice and Billy took you to the fun fair that just happened to be in town. He kept you close to him and would've punched anyone who laid their eyes on you for too long if you hadn't stopped him. "Don't worry, I'm only yours Hargrove" you beamed at him with delight in your eyes as you pressed a tender kiss to his cheek. After that he won you a stuffed animal and you got some cotton candy together.
"I love you, you know that right? I'll stay by your side forever you'll see. And I'll never leave you, like my asshole of a father left my mum, I promise. The two of us, we'll stay together for eternity" The blonde told you that evening when you were in bed, snuggled up cozily together after he had shown you just how much he loved you in every possible way. You moved your head which was resting on his naked chest slightly so you could properly look at him. His eyes held so much love, passion, adoration and tenderness for you in them and you knew yours did too "Forever huh?" you grinned as he brushed a strand of hair out of your face. You could feel his fingers trace patterns on your back and arms as his strong arms pulled you impossibly closer to his body, the scent of his cologne engulfing you. "You better keep that promise then because I love you too." A cocky smirk appeared on his face and there was a short pause, a comfortable silence, as you pondered "Billy?" The boy hummed in response, his fingers still caressing your soft skin. "Can you promise to show me the beaches in Cali someday as well?" You felt your boyfriends chest vibrating as he chuckled softly "I think that I can manage (Y/n)" That's how you drifted off to sleep that night.
"(Y/n)..." a soft voice cautiously brought you back to your reality. "It's been three years." Your eyes were wide as you found yourself face to face with Maxine Mayfield, Billy's half-sister. He always acted like he hated it when someone called them siblings, when in reality he didn't mind at all. He loved his sister, he just had a special way of showing it. "What are you doing here? And what are you even talking about?" A smile was on your face. "As much as I love our silly little talks Max, I must advice you leave. Billy will come home any minute now and you know how he can get when he has plans and you appear out of nowhere." a giggle left your throat. As you spoke your eyes started swimming with tears. Why? You didn't know.
"(Y/n) listen to me. Billy died three years ago today, he's not gonna come to your anniversary. You just made up that he's still here with you because you couldn't handle his death. Not with how brutal it was." Tears were now pouring from your eyes as you shook your head. Realization dawning on you. "No...that-that's not true" you said, your voice cracking halfway. "Three-three years ago he took me to the funfair and-" you stopped mid sentence as the images from your nightmares unraveled before you. Max pulled you into her embrace and you hugged her back immediately, your whole body racking with sobs. The redhead also shed a few tears, not only because of her dead brother but also because of the state you were in. "I know, I know..." she soothed you
I know you're somewhere out there.
Somewhere far away...

Watching over you (Sakuya centric)
I’ve been working on this for so long honestly at one point I didn’t know if it would ever see the light, but thankfully here it is! 💕
-
She believes she would recognize his smile even if she lost her sight. Even if she couldn’t touch him anymore and all she could do was listen. Because when he does it, his sounds are bubbly light and silky, tickling her skin. And when he pouts, on those rare occasions, they’re sharper and a bit of a mess, but she adores it nonetheless.
His son had his husband’s smile, that was unquestionable. She knew the moment she laid her eyes on him on that spring afternoon, cherry and chubby cheeks making way to match his hair. The first time Sakuya laughed-actually pretty soon after being born, like he’d been awaiting impatiently all those months inside her belly- she distinguished that familiar brightness and peace. It was no wonder he was a spring baby. She clutches him tightly against her chest, and wonders if she’ll ever feel sad again.
“Good sleeper as always” a man remarks, entering the living room “He gets that from you, you know”
“Let’s cross fingers he stays like this when he starts growing up too” she chuckles, and he joins, looking at his son with yearning. Sakuya might look almost like him, but from what he had learnt, he definitely takes more after his wife in terms of personality. He is curious and gentle, just like her.
He sits down on the sofa resting with them, and she leans in. Sakuya is still fast asleep, but she has this sudden, selfish wish to wake him up, just to enjoy those big crimson eyes- one of the few physical traits similar to her- again.
“Our little miracle” she hears his husband whispers. The words hit her as shaky, like a soft earthquake. She turns to look at him and finds his cheeks wet. He tries to move away so the tears don’t hit the baby, but a few still fall on her.
“He has your smile, did you notice?” she says.
He wipes his eyes, smiling embarrassed while Sakuya squirms, curling his tiny fingers around the blanket that they picked a few weeks before he was born.
It's not been that long since Sakuya entered in their lives. But both know him already like a part of themselves. Every strand of hair. Every like and dislike. And they’ll learn more and more about him, for the rest of their lifes, and his. Even when they are gone. That much is true.
.
Sakuya Sakuma had no real clear memory of his parents.
He could recount all he remembered of his mom on one hand, and from his dad on the other. As time passed and he grew up though, those memories became tangled, sinking deeper in his brain, the list getting shorter.
So short that at a certain point, Sakuya noticed he couldn’t remember his mother’s soft laugh or his father’s clear smile anymore. His relatives never really bothered to keep photos of them, so he desperately held onto the memories of his mother’s crimson eyes and his dad’s scratchy face by drawings and sketches he made himself.
It was one of the things he regretted most whenever he went to pray during their anniversary, not really knowing how they looked like.
“…it was really close, but Tsumugi-san and the rest of the winter troupe managed to win! So now we get to keep performing at Mankai. Here, see?” Sakuya turned to his school bag excited, taking out of it a piece of paper and placing it carefully next to the small bouquet of flowers “This is one of the tickets. I asked director for one to keep as a memory. We even made a celebration afterwards which was super fun, though Sakyo-san insisted we should all be more mindful of our still new image” he giggled, reminiscing the not too long-ago event “Ah, but I’m doing my best to balance school work of course! So you really don’t have to worry”
He hadn’t told anyone at the dorm about today. Not because he thought it was troubling, but it was something he had always done alone. It felt strange talking about it, although he was sure no one would have minded it, had he asked for company.
“Director, the spring troupe… everyday is so much fun now thanks to everyone” he lifted his head to the sky and then to the names engraved on the graves “It would have been nice if you met them”
But just as the show had to go on, life did too, Sakuya knew that more than anyone. So dusting away the dirt from his knees, he stood up. And when he arrived at the dorm, he did his best to put on the brightest smile. And if anyone noticed any change in his behaviour, no one mentioned it.
.
Now it was past midnight, and he couldn’t sleep.
It had been a while since he had a night like this. When it happens, he usually goes to Itaru’s or Azuma’s- sometimes even director’s- but this time the uneasiness was manageable, so he rose softly from the bed, shuffling around and leaving the room.
Sakuya walked carefully across the hallway to the living room and then into the kitchen, where the sound tended to distance itself from the bedrooms.
As usual, there was a plate of scones left by Omi on the cupboard, just in case someone woke up. He decided to warm a cup of milk and set some aside.
He leaned against the sink until milk was warmed up, inhaling the steam from the cup and heading towards the courtyard. After setting everything besides him on the bench, he sat and stared out into the night sky, watching stars twinkle and listening to the crickets sing.
His attention was suddenly caught by a plushie on the floor. A pink one. He grabbed it, staring at it tilting his head. He had never seen it in the dorm before.
“Sakuya?”
The male voice he heard didn’t match anyone’s in the dorm but weirdly enough, it didn’t alert him. On the contrary, it set off a strange nostalgic feeling withing him, somehow. He questioned it, of course, as he left the plushie aside and turned. And then he saw them.
It was as if every memory and repressed thought emerged all at once against his chest with blazing strength.
He stood up slowly, arms laying limply on his sides. The silence before him was deafening and Sakuya was sure his ears were ringing. His eyes definitely wide.
He felt his throat clench painfully with the force it takes to not let tears out. Because it had to be a dream, but their eyes were glistening under the stars and they felt warm.
This time, it was his mother who spoke, so sweet and softly he could have melted on the spot “You’ve grown”
At this point, he was too exhausted to think logically. His feet began moving almost at the same time as theirs did towards him. All the doubts, the regrets, the worries that’d been stealing his sleep, kept gradually letting go of him with each step he gave. He threw himself into their arms, making small, gasping noises at first, and then he was crying, sobbing in earnest, fingernails digging into his parent’s skin so hard he feared he may be hurting them. But they didn’t pull away, didn’t even consider it.
‘I miss you, I miss you so much’ he kept whispering over and over, and every time he did, they would tighten their grip ever so slightly.
Slowly, he managed to calm down and step back, but gripped both of their hands tightly, as if telling them not to let go.
“Sakuya-”
“I’m sorry” he inhaled sharply, trying to calm down. He didn’t want to sound as if he was complaining “I’m doing okay. M-Mankai has become my home, you see. They welcomed me when they didn’t have to and you- I know you would have taken care of me, if you could have so-”
Sakuya looked up, and it startled him, seeing his mother crying too “Mom…?”
She let go of his hands and pulled him against her “Oh, honey” she breathed shakily “We are so sorry for leaving you alone”
“No, please” Sakuya said, his eyes were burning. That was what he didn’t want to happen “I’m sorry, I know it wasn’t- that’s not your-”
“But your feelings are still there” she coaxed, caressing his cheek, taking away the tears from the corner of his eyes “And you’re allowed to feel them”
“We have been watching you all this time” his father placed his hand on his back.
And Sakuya broke down again.
Because just how many times had he fervently wished for that to be true. To hear them. How many times when he was in school and saw children with their families he swallowed and smile, imagining himself in their place.
He was trembling, filled with too many things he wanted to say that he was overwhelmed where to start.
“Did- Did you see me on stage…?”
His mother cupped his face between her hands and nodded, smiling. She looked beautiful under the moonlight, Sakuya couldn’t help thinking. He wanted to stay there, enjoying her crimson eyes, just to make sure they still matched his own “You are the light and joy of our lives, honey. And that smile of yours will be the light that will guide and help others in the future, I’m sure”
“We love you, Sakuya” his father nodded, kissing the top of his head and wrapping his arms around them tightly once more. He was trembling “From the bottom of our hearts. Never forget that”
He doesn’t know how long they stood there hugging, taking in each other’s warmth, but it lasted until all of his tears had stopped and dried. And when they broke apart, this time, he managed to give them a real smile.
“I’ll do my best to make you both proud”
They showered him with a bigger one “Being who you are is enough, Sakuya. We are already proud. We always will”
“I love you, Mom. I love you, Dad... so much”
.
Next time he blinked, the wall welcomed Sakuya into his room. He was lying on the side, the clock next to his bed reading five in the morning.
He turned so that his body faced the ceiling, giving a short glance around still disoriented. He didn’t remember what he was dreaming about, memories were fazing, but his chest was about to burst with a relief he hadn’t felt in a while flooding over him.
It was so overwhelmingly cozy it made him shiver.
He looked outside the window, noticing one of the stars blinked a bit brighter than the rest. Sakuya decided to embrace himself against the pillows, placing a hand over his chest.
It was a feeling he couldn’t name, but it felt warm, and he smiled.

Darn it, I’ve been waiting since the start of the month to send you fic in celebration of your five-year check-up being all good, and in the end, I missed it because of work deadlines keeping me away aha. But congratulations on the excellent news!! And have some fic in celebration!!!
Nope, you are right on time - today is the actual anniversary!
And now, the fic:
1. As soon as he wakes, John knows something is wrong. Firstly, because the bright lights of the infirmary greet him when he opens his eyes, and he is very confident that he wasn’t in the infirmary when they had initially shut. Secondly, because as awareness trickles back in through his mind, so too does a large amount of pain across his body. Most importantly however, is when he glances to his right and sees a stressed-looking Lorne next to his bed rather than the usual sight of Elizabeth. 2. ‘’ere is she?’ he croaks out, pushing himself upright with shaky arms. Lorne thrusts a glass of water under his nose, clearly stalling for time as he waits until John has managed to drink without spilling everything over the covers. ‘How much do you remember?’ he asks, instead of answering, and John’s impatience begins to grow. ‘Enough,’ he says shortly. ‘I remember us visiting M8G-753, I remember Elizabeth coming with us, I remember us having endless boring negotiations with the locals.’ 3. The memories are there, but coming back slowly, pushing though the fog that seems to hang over his head. ‘Well, the negotiations weren’t as boring as you thought,’ Lorne says with a sigh. ‘You were ambushed a few hours ago on your way back to the gate. They clearly targeted those of you carrying weapons, to remove the threat, although in the end it appears as if they were going for a non-lethal approach.’ At this, John looks more closely around the infirmary. ‘The team?’ 4. ‘Bruised but otherwise fine,’ Lorne reassures. ‘Looks like you took the main brunt of the injuries.’ And abruptly John can recall exactly why – can remember how they were cleverly divided under the attack, lured forwards by enemy fire. How Elizabeth and the civilian scientists were left behind, as if that was safer, yet all the while a trap was being set specifically to catch them. He remembers her screams as she and the others were dragged away, and how he couldn’t reach her in time. 5. His feet hit the floor the very next moment, and then Lorne is there, clutching his arm as he attempts to stand upright. ‘No way,’ Lorne shakes his head. ‘Carson will kill me if I let you escape from here.’ John shakes off his support, and manages a slow shuffle forward. ‘Major,’ he says. ‘I am leaving this infirmary and going to get my people. And you can either worry about what the doctor says, or worry about civilians who have been left in hostile territory.’ His tone leaves no argument. 6. Lorne has the good grace not to mention how John is studiously avoiding saying a specific name. Instead, he hesitates for a moment, and then nods his agreement. ‘You might want to change your clothing, Sir, before you embark on any rescue missions,’ he says simply, indicating at the hospital gown with the semblance of a smile. ‘I’ll go ready a team.’ He leaves abruptly, no doubt wanting to avoid any potential confrontation if Carson were to appear. 7. John is grateful for the privacy – it makes it less humiliating as he walks slowly back to his own quarters, trying to put as much distance between himself and the infirmary as possible. His brain is stuck wondering what has happened to Elizabeth, and reflecting on how he failed to keep her safe. He barely notices the numerous bandages across his body as he pulls on more suitable clothes, and by the time he splashes cold water on his face, he can at least move a bit more easily. 8. He still isn’t quite sure how he makes it back to Control however, never mind gearing up and stepping through the Gate. He knows at some point he gave Lorne the nod to go ahead with leading the team, but mostly he focuses on keeping the encroaching darkness at bay from the corner of his vision. The world is slightly hazy, but he needs to remain upright. Elizabeth would be appalled if she saw him, he knows, but the point is that she CAN’T see him, because she isn’t there. 9. The other side of the gate is eerily silent, and it is impossible to know if they are being watched, and if so, by how many. John sidles closer to Lorne. ‘Let’s head towards the town first,’ he says quietly, and Lorne nods in agreement before gesturing to the others. Before they’ve managed to go move however, there is a loud explosion to the left of the gate, and a large plume of smoke begins to rise from the not-too-far treeline. John wordlessly points in this new direction. 10. Fifteen minutes of unrelenting marching later, and the smoke has begun to settle in around them, making it difficult to see. And then, up ahead, figures begin to emerge from the trees. ‘Don’t come any closer,’ John commands, managing to find his voice properly at last. He waits, gun in hand, team at his back, for the response. ‘John?’ someone familiar asks, and suddenly Elizabeth is there, leading a group of dirty, tired scientists towards him. 11. There is a definite limp to her step, and a large cut down her left cheek, but she’s smiling brightly by the time they stand toe-to-toe. ‘You kinda interrupted the rescue mission,’ John says, trying to sound casual and unable to stop a matching grin spreading across his own face. Elizabeth laughs in response. ‘Never underestimate a scientist’s ability to blow something up – including doors,’ she gestures over her shoulder towards a sheepish-looking young woman. 12. ‘After that, it was just a matter of removing the guards.’ Her hand is holding tight to a table leg, he realises, and then with a quick glance around to the rest of the group, sees that they all have various weapons. ‘Leading a violent uprising,’ he notes. ‘I’m impressed.’ Elizabeth nods, and there is weariness to her movements. ‘I will admit that diplomacy is not always the best option,’ she says lightly, but her fingers release the makeshift weapon and it falls to the ground with a thump. 13. They need to move back towards the gate as quickly as possible to avoid another ambush, but then he feels Elizabeth’s forehead drop to his shoulder. His arm comes up to rest on her back, and he allows them to breath for a moment, as around them, the other scientists are being ushered away. ‘OK?’ he asks softly, for only her to hear. ‘OK,’ she confirms, her voice muffled against his chest. ‘You?’ He nods in response, despite the aches shooting across his body. 14. ‘Let’s get you off this planet and to see Carson,’ he says instead, shifting so she can use him for support as they begin to shuffle back towards the gate, whilst still keeping his other side clear for his gun. She snorts quietly in response, even as her gaze rests on the uneven ground as she tries to stay on her feet. ‘Don’t think I haven’t noticed you should be in the infirmary yourself,’ she throws back. He groans, not from pain but from suddenly picturing Carson’s reaction on his return. 15. ‘Can we just pretend he cleared me for this mission?’ he asks pitifully, keeping her distracted whilst subtly trying to speed up their pace. He refuses to be caught out again by an ambush, and the faster they make it back to Atlantis, the faster she will be safe. ‘Nice try,’ she tells him as the gate looms ahead. ‘But maybe we can be in neighbouring beds – I’m sure he’d prefer you focus your boredom on ruining my concentration instead of his when you invariably get bored of your stay.’
16. They reach the gate just as Lorne dials for Atlantis. John keeps holding her upright as they travel through to Control, and all the way down to the infirmary, where they are separated only by Carson’s demanding hands (and furious words). And when he wakes up from his own hospital bed the next morning, Elizabeth’s face from the neighbouring bed is indeed the first thing he sees.

GAAAAAAHHHHHHH, so good. As always, SO GOOD. Thank you so much! I love it!

Stand By Me (Carol Danvers x Fem!Reader)
Pairing: Carol Danvers | Captain Marvel x Fem!Reader
Prompt: “I missed something didn’t I?” | Prompts
Word Count: 2.2k Words
Warnings: Slight Angst, Mentions of anxiety
Summary: Carol had forgotten your anniversary and you begin to doubt she loves you. She reassures you that she does. A/N: I hope this is alright! I was very distracted while writing it but I think it turned out okay. Please enjoy!
You had been dropping hints just about all day; From the moment you awoke beside her to lunch and even dinner. Carol had returned from a mission just a few days ago and today was a special day for the two of you, but it seemed as though it had escaped her mind completely. You had done everything you could to remind her of the day without outright saying it; You started the morning with a heated make-out session which of course led to a very passionate lovemaking session. You whispered to her just how much you loved her and how grateful you were to have her in your life and she did the same, but sadly after it didn’t seem to spark a single thing in her mind. Once you two were out of bed and going about your business on the compound you would occasionally grab at her hand and hold it tightly, maybe even let your hand wander over her body whenever you two were alone but yet again, nothing seemed to spark. You did it all to try and gain the woman’s attention; I mean hell, you even took the time to do your make-up and hair. You even changed out of the usual sweatpants and t-shirt you would wear as well and opted for a dark, navy blue dress that was about thigh high and had spaghetti straps. You went ahead and paired that with one of her leather jackets and wore a pair of converse shoes to finish the look off. You had changed into the outfit as soon as Carol left to go about her business so this was as much as a surprise to her as it was to the others. Just about everyone in the compound complimented your appearance and you thanked them all the same. Even Carol commented on the look and said you looked amazing, that the dress brought out all your curves and that her jacket looked way better on you then it did her but yet again, the hint went way over her head and all you could do was sigh and accept the compliments she dished out. It was your two year anniversary since you and Carol got together and you had expected her to remember such a thing but you suppose being off world would make you rather forgetful of such things; Different times and all that.
You currently resided in your shared room, removing the brown leather jacket from your shoulders as you hummed lowly to the slow song that played from the speakers nearby. It was getting late into the night and you had a debrief in the morning with a few other Avengers for an upcoming mission, so you wanted to get as much sleep as you could get. You were deep in thought when Carol walked in. You didn’t even glance towards the door and she couldn’t help but give a frown when you didn’t greet her. Had she done something wrong? She had been with you just about the whole day and she could feel that something was off; Now, what that something was she couldn’t tell or figure out for the life of her and it was beginning to bother her. She made her way over to you carefully, going and wrapping her arms around your waist before she began to place a few kisses in the junction of your neck, occasionally sucking on the skin to leave a mark or two; She couldn’t help but smirk lightly as she saw the previous markings she had made. She loved to mark you and you knew it, but you still had to cover it up with make-up whenever you two were out and about. You did have a reputation to uphold as an Avenger, after all. She continued to kiss at your neck though, finding the sweet spot under your ear and kissed at it, soon sucking against it. It caused a shiver to run down your spine as you shifted your gaze as best you could to the blonde beside you, letting out a small breath as you shut your eyes for a few moments. You were upset with her but you wouldn’t let it show, at least for now.
“Hello Carol.” You spoke, your tone coming out colder then you wanted it to be and you involuntary flinched; You wanted to take that back the moment the words left your lips. She heard the coldness of your statement and shifted her light brown gaze towards you as she removed herself from your neck, eyebrow raised as she scanned over your tense form. She needed to know what was going on with you and what she could do to help you so she spoke her mind. “I missed something, didn’t I? You’ve been acting strange since dinner...” She asked you to which you gave a small sigh and turned to look at her, the sadness in your eyes showing bright as day and she could feel her stomach drop; She hated that she knew she was the reason for your sadness. She hated seeing you sad so this just about tore her apart.
“Yeah.. You did..” You informed her as you removed her arms from your waist and sat on the edge of the bed, tears beginning to well in your eyes. You loved Carol to death, you really did but for some reason this hit you hard and you couldn’t put an exact reason to it, but you had a feeling; You were beginning to fear that Carol didn’t love you as much anymore. Sure you said you loved her a thousand times a day and she did the same to you just about every time she saw you, even going as far to give you a quick peck on the lips whenever you two passed in the halls but it was one of those moments where your anxiety was getting the better of you. Where it was having your brain come up with stupid scenarios that you knew were false and yet, somehow, you still managed to believe them and it was beginning to hurt more and more it continued.
Carol bit her lip and moved in front of you, going and gently kneeling down as she took your hands in hers. She began to run her thumbs over your knuckles as she began to wrack through her brain for what she could have missed; Your birthday, maybe? No, the others would have thrown a party and she knew it wasn’t the right month anyway. Maybe it was some milestone you hit, but even that thought didn’t seem right to her but at the same time it did. It was at that moment that she began to put two and two together, the gears in her brain beginning to turn as she looked up at you with wide eyes, her mouth opened slightly as it hit her all at once.
“Fuck our anniversary-” She told you, watching as you gave a small nod of agreement as you sniffled quietly. Your tears had begun to run down your face as she moved her hands from your own to your cheeks, gently wiping away at the tears.
“Baby girl I am so fucking sorry- I’ve been busy with mission logs and debriefs that it just completely it escaped my mind.” Carol began to tell you, watching as the tears continued to fall from your face. You shut your eyes and moved your hand into her hands, moving one of your own to cover her right hand.
“I know you are.. And it’s okay I just.. This anxiety I’ve been feeling.. It’s making me think of things that I wish it wouldn’t.” You told her, opening your eyes to look into hers and it was there you saw the pained look of hers only for a moment before it disappeared and she stood back up.
“Stand up.” She told you, causing you to blink a few tears away but you did as she told you. She went ahead and removed her hands from your face and quickly wrapped her arms around your waist, pulling you as close as she could as she moved her left hand onto the back of your head. You couldn’t help the small sob that escaped you as you buried your head into her shoulder, allowing yourself to finally break down. Carol shut her eyes tightly, keeping her right arm around your waist tightly as she began to run her left hand through your hair, occasionally shushing you in a calming tone. She would even move her hand down to rub at your back as she swayed with you.
“Baby.. Love of my life.. I will never stop loving you, alright…? I’m really sorry I forgot today, but it wasn’t all bad, was it?” She questioned as you began to calm down. You gave a small sniffle as you moved to rest your head on her shoulder now and began to think the day over. You had woken up with her still there in your bed and, as stated before, had the most amazing love making session you’d have to date. After that you had joined her for lunch and you could still remember the stupid jokes that Tony was telling at the table and it would cause you both to laugh but her hand never left yours and if it did, it was placed on your thigh and was rubbing small circles onto it. When lunch was said and done you had joined Carol on a walk around the compound, talking about everything and anything you could before she had left to finish her mission logs. The next time you saw her was dinner and even then she kept her hand on your thigh, talking with Natasha across the table about some upcoming mission the two would be going on. You just smiled and watched her talk but that anxiety was in your stomach which led you to now; You crying your eyes out into her shoulder as she swayed with you to the slow music that was playing. You gave her a small nod before you spoke up.
“I.. No.. It was um… Actually really nice…” You admitted to her as she moved you away so she could see your face, giving a small chuckle as she moved her left hand back to your cheek to wipe away some mascara that had begun to run.
“Good, as it should have been. I know I wasn’t able to take you away to some fancy restaurant or into the city for some fabulous date but I promise tomorrow I will fulfill just that… But for right now, I want to hold you and dance to the music.. Will that suffice, my shining star?” She questioned, her eyes on you yet again. You couldn’t help but stare at her; Her eyes had that gleam of hopefulness that you would agree but they were also swirling with love. You couldn’t help but sniffle and give her a small nod, moving yourself close to her again as you pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. The kiss was slow and gentle but you somehow still managed to put so much passion into it. You loved Carol and you were sure that you could never find another lover like her again if you tried. So when she kissed you back just as gentle, you began to feel your anxieties wash away.
“Yes.. Yes it will.” You told her as you pulled away from the kiss, your eyes scanning her face before you gave a small smile as she broke out into her own wide smile.
“Thank God.. I don’t know what I’d do if you didn’t…” She told you as she held you close to her once more, beginning to sway with you to the music that continued. You rested your head on her shoulder once more, shutting your eyes as you heard her speak once more.
“I love you so damn much, (Y/N)... Even to all the planets I’ve been too, the galaxies I’ve seen.. Nothing compares to your beauty.” She told you, which caused you to blush lightly and nuzzle your head into her neck as the two of you continued to sway about your room, occasionally moving to a new spot as she continued to spout praise and love to you. You could feel how much she loved you now, and it was foolish of you to even doubt that she didn’t love you. She would destroy worlds for you and you knew she would without any hesitation.
“I love you just as much Carol.. If not more.” You told her as you looked at her, watching as she gave you another smile and a quick peck on your lips before she held you close once more and continued to dance with you. You were crazy to think she didn’t love you because now, as you danced about your room with her as the music picked up to a more upbeat song, you couldn’t help the laughter that left your form. You wouldn’t doubt her love again and if you did, you would think of this exact moment.

Why Wouldn’t I Be Okay?
This was inspired by a post I saw here on Tumblr that I would link if I could find it again but I can't. Anyway the post said something along the lines of 'imagine Bender recording Fry's voice to replay it to himself later. Now imagine him replaying it long after Fry had passed away'. It was supposed to have been a drabble but it ended up being 2k words long (my own fault for the choice of one of memories I decided to include) instead.
~
“Wait, you’re the only friend I have.”
Bender paused, turning to look back at Fry. “You really want a robot for a friend?” There was no way that could be true because what human in their right mind wanted to be friends with a robot?
“Yeah, ever since I was six.” He looked and sounded completely honest. Bender would’ve suspected it was an attempt at a cruel trick if it wasn’t for the fact Fry had just got done mistaking a suicide booth for a place to make phone calls and not realized the mistake until it had almost killed him; no way someone that stupid could fake being genuine so well. Meaning not only did he want a robot as a friend, he’d already decided that the two of them were friends. … Bender had never had a friend before so…
“Well okay, But I don’t want people thinking we’re robo-sexuals so if anyone asks, you’re my debugger.” Why not give this whole friendship thing a go? If it didn’t work out or he got bored of it, the suicide booth would still be there.
Bender sighed as he stopped the recording. It was crazy how much his life had changed that day all thanks to his chance encounter with Fry and then on a whim deciding to agree with Fry’s decision that they were friends. It wasn’t often he cared to take time to appreciate that but today was certainly a good day for it. … It was a good day for a lot of things.
The heater elements made him run uncomfortably hot and slowed down his other systems a bit but it was nowhere near bad enough to risk damage or automatic shutdown. A little bit of discomfort was worth it because his plan had worked; Fry had cuddled up to him without argument, complaint, or even much hesitation.
Fry was soft and squishy pressed up against Bender’s side. With an arm wrapped so firmly around him, Bender could feel his breathing. It was slowing and evening out as the last of the tension melted from his body. A quick furtive glance revealed that his eyes were closed now too; he was sleeping or in the process of falling asleep. Which wasn’t surprising the cold that had settled in their apartment after Bender had gutted the space heater had woken him several hours earlier than normal, especially for their day off. But it was still nice to see he was comfortable enough with Bender to fall asleep so quickly while they were cuddling like this. If only this could be a regular thing. …
Oh fuck, Bender was hopelessly in love, wasn’t he? Though he probably should’ve realized that upon coming up with this plan and deciding to do it, huh? Not that it mattered how or why he realized because…
Bender pulled himself out the memory. Looking back on it now, he almost couldn’t believe how he’d been so thoroughly convinced that there was no hope of that love being reciprocated. Him and Fry were basically the perfect match.
“I like you for you,” Fry said looking directly at Bender. “You’re great and you’re my best friend. And I love spending time with you whether we’re off on a space adventure or just lazing around the apartment watching TV together. So, I’d like to be more than just friends if that’s what you want too. If not, that’s… okay too, I’d understand.”
Bender did want that even if he’d never dared to actually hope for it. Before he said ‘yes’ though… “Oh, hmmm… what else do you like about me?” There was no way he could ever pass up an opportunity to make Fry say more nice things about him.
“You’re always fun to talk to and you’ve got great ideas for ways to pass the time when we’re bored. And even though you steal my wallet all the time, you always give it back eventually. And you’re a robot and that’s still super cool even if I’m used to robots by now because you were the first one I met and I wasn’t lying when I said I’d always wanted a robot for a best friend. So really by being my pal, you’re fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine. I’ve never thought about dating one before now though, it just never occurred to me until after that uh… kiss experiment we did.”
“Go on.”
Fry gave him a slightly annoyed look that only increased Bender’s enjoyment of the moment. “You’re also very confident, especially in yourself. And you’re also super strong, you can bend metal like it’s made of paper which is super cool. And sometimes you use that strength to open jars for me and sometimes you don’t even make fun of me for not being able to open it myself. Also, even despite our occasional disagreements, we always make up eventually and then we’re friends again like nothing ever happened and… that’s really nice. So… will you go out with me?” He held a hand out towards Bender, offering it.
Ah shit, Bender couldn’t drag this out any longer, could he? He wasn’t programmed to be able to handle emotional situations, heck he wasn’t programmed to have emotions at all. How did he say ‘yes’ without coming off as awkward and desperate? Or without fucking up his chances some other way? ... He had to say or do something! …
“Well, if you’re going to butter me up that much, I suppose we can go on one date and see what happens.” He couldn’t help but look away as he put his hand in Fry’s. That hadn’t exactly come out how he would’ve…
Fry’s grip on Bender’s hand tighter as he yanked him closer. “Can I kiss you again? For real this time, not just as an experiment?” Their bodies were very close now, enough that he could’ve just done it without asking. He didn’t even need to as far was Bender was concerned.
“I just agreed to go on a date with you meatbag, what do you think?”
Fry didn’t do it though, nor did he say anything. He was far too cute and sweet for his own good. It was endearing though.
Bender sighed. “Yes moron, you can kiss me again.”
Finally Fry kissed him again. His lips were warm and soft, an odd sensation but a pleasant one. And just like last time it was over before Bender was really ready for it to be.
“Better than last time?” Fry asked, his face flushing a little.
“A little.” And the first one had already been pretty good, even if Bender would never admit to it.
If only Bender could actually relive any of these moments. The visuals and audio were crystal clear and his recall of his emotions and internal thoughts were also recorded perfectly but it was still just a memory that he was choosing to play the full recording of in his head. No matter how much he wished he could sink into them as if they were happening in real time, he couldn’t. With another useless sigh, he started playing the next one.
As casually as he physically could, Bender strode over to stand by Fry as he hosed down the ship.
Fry turned his head to look at him with a smile. “I didn’t think you’d show up again until after the ship was done being cleaned.”
Bender hadn’t known that that was happening otherwise he would’ve stayed hidden for a while longer. “Eh, it’s whatever, Leela’s not around to order me to help so I don’t have to. But uh… I have a gift for you.”
Fry gave him a skeptical look. “It’s not another thing you stole that you’re giving to me so I get in trouble instead of you, is it?”
“Nope and for once I actually mean that. I did steal it though. But it was a while ago, I doubt anyone cares anymore so you probably won’t get in trouble for having it.”
He didn’t look completely convinced but after a couple seconds hesitation, Fry shrugged as he placed the hose on the ground and turned to face Bender fully. “All right then, what is it?”
Already in his hand and hidden behind his back, Bender pulled out the ring box. With a practiced flick of his wrist, he flipped open the lid so that Fry could see the big fancy ring inside. “Will you marry me?”
His eyes widening, Fry gasped. “I uh… yes, yes of course!”
Bender had expected a ‘yes’ – why wouldn’t Fry want to marry him? – but the enthusiasm was appreciated. Being excited about it was maybe a bit silly but -
“You okay Bender?”
With a jolt, Bender stopped the recording and opened his eyes. Cubert and Dwight hovered in front of him with worried expressions. Which just wasn’t right because they looked like their fathers now – especially Cubert because he was clone – neither of whom had ever been concerned about Bender, or at least not enough to look at him like that. How their sons had grown up to be such softies was a mystery, an annoying one.
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be okay?” Bender didn’t bother getting up from the couch in hopes that they’d leave soon.
“Well,” Cubert said, “You stayed overnight at work again. That’s not something people who are okay typically do.”
“Or maybe I just arrived before you did.” Bender had meant to leave the breakroom and head to probably the basement instead before they’d arrived but they’d just had to come in an hour early.
Dwight sighed and shook his head. “Also, according to my records it’s the one-year anniversary of… well… uh… you know. So it makes sense that you’re not okay, especially today.”
The one-year anniversary of Fry’s death. By some miracle he’d been the last to go, outliving even Leela by almost two whole years. It had been inevitable though, even modern science could only keep him alive for so long. And thus Bender had known it was coming from the very start and had seen all their friends die one by one… he’d never been ready to face it though, still wasn’t.
Despite that, he scoffed and rolled his eyes. “It’s been a year, I’m over it. Meatbags die, it’s one of the things they’re most known for. So I’m over all their deaths, including and especially his.”
Neither of them believed him. In fact, they looked at him with even more sadness and worry than before as if he were some poor lonely sap to be pitied. “It’s okay to grieve,” Cubert said. “You don’t have to be ashamed of it, we miss him and everyone else too. And we know how much you two loved each other.”
Dwight looked like he was going to say something in agreement but before he could get a single annoying word out, Bender stood up. “I have work to do.” He went past them and left the room, heading for the ship hanger.
Only one of the two company ships were in. The other was due to return sometime today and when it did, the team crewing it would probably have something for him to do. If not and probably if so as well, he’d be sure to be part of the crew going on the next mission because he needed the distraction. Hopefully it’d be a long one too so he’d have an excuse to continue to not return to his empty apartment.
Ugh, he was actually looking to do work for once and hoping it’d take a long time. That’s how far he’d fallen this past year. … He could delete his memories of Fry and all his friends – he even missed Zoidberg and Scruffy, something he never would’ve predicted. It’d hurt so much less if he did. With help he could even delete them so thoroughly that he wouldn’t even know anything had been deleted.
But… meeting and befriending Fry had irrevocably changed his life. Those memories not only included his happiest, they were also the majority of his life at this point. What would he be like if he did delete them? … Impossible to say and… he wasn’t sure he wanted to know. So… for now, he’d continue to live with them and continue to hope that maybe one day they’d hurt less.

Intro (aka my random blablabla)
I’ve been thinking about this post all week. I knew I would only have time every Sunday to do my entries for the event (personal stuff, I pretty much have a single free day ha) but that doesn’t stop me of over-thinking about maruMA xD
In the end, I came back to the same scene over and over, and strangely is not one of my favorite and cute “pairing scenes” between Yuu and Wolf but a random fight. But thinking a little bit more about it, it’s a perfect choice. Also, I knew I would be able to read other analysis from other fans about Wolf and Yuu xDDD ♥
This scene was a key moment for myself as a fan of this series because the first time I read the novels I found Yuuri to be very different compared to the anime version. For me both versions were like the day and night, its not a secret I’m not a hiuge fan of the adaptation the animated did of the characters and at the time I search the source material to patch up things I didn’t like about the last season I was watching. Since the first paragraphs of novel 1 I thought to myself “this is a protagonist I can really enjoy, he feels like a real teenager in another world”. The jokes and pop culture reference were great, but I started to completely fall for him when he showed his dark side and human flaws.
And that’s what I bring you today, one of the dark moments of Yuuri I love. The interesting thing is he has many more, even in previous novels, but this one is so natural that makes you rethink about any impression you had about him if you’re still convinced he’s so naive-good that you can take advantage of him easily.
Novel Quote
I’ll quote Novel 8, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3, the Dai Shimaron tournament, Yuuri vs. Adalbert.
Brief context about the story up to this point: Wolfram and Josak already fought their matches, it’s Yuuri’s turn and when he goes on stage he meets Conrart again for the first time after his “death”, he was the 3rd contestant of Dai Shimaron and his supposed match at the tournament, but Adalbert complaints he has the right to fight again since he won his match against Josak. Conrart, Josak, Murata and Wolfram try to make Yuuri forfeit because Adalbert clearly can and will try to kill him for real, but in the end he decides to fight.
Novel 8 Chapter 2
I struck the metal bat at the legs of my opponent, and he fell. My first goal today. Leaning on his hands he tried to bounce back. Now I only needed to smack my weapon down on him, and the battle would be decided. Only two and a half steps forward and a hard hit on his head, then it would all be over, and I would win! Maybe some of his brain would splatter a bit, but it would be easy enough to change my clothes - so that should be fine. That is the problem with using bat as weapon, there is no middle ground to negotiate. I should have listened to Wolfram's advice and chosen a sword. If only I could point my sword at him, I might be able to force him to surrender.
Even though all those thoughts were rushing through my head, in that split of second, I simply took my stance in front of Adalbert, preparing to swing my bat. Just one strike and it would be over with. No, I did not need to smash his skull, I only needed to stop at the right time to knock him out, and the referee would still declare me the winner. I only needed to stop at the right time...
"Ouch!"
Adalbert had noticed my hesitation and, with his free foot, kicked me with all his might at my fingers. I screamed under my breath, and lurched forward. Adalbert quickly grabbed me by my neck and I felt cold metal pressed against my throat.
"Thanks, kid. You saved me the trouble of chasing after you in this whole revolving shop."
"Ah... Ouch! "
"Does that hurt, huh? You're bleeding even, you poor thing!" Adalbert said sarcastically.
All the muscles in my body tensed up. The blade was just under my chin. How would it feel to have your throat slit open? Which death would be more pleasant? A severed carotid artery or a severed windpipe?
So, Yuuri wasn’t actually able to hit him but just the fact this kid thought about splitting this man skull open was a really big change in the way I understood his character back in the day. Let’s remember a lot of fans who never read the novels do think Yuuri is all love and peace, with a borderline idiotic attitude that made the anime Saralegi able to do to him whatever the hell he wanted.
I still remember that chapter where Yuuri’s saying no matter what I’ll believe in everyone, vs. Novel Yuuri saying no matter what I’m not a moron and I’ll trust anyone because evidently I’m the king and a lot of people want me dead. That’s later in the novels and not related to the extract I put here, but it was triggered by novel Sara in contrast with the anime example I just gave.
Back to the scene about Adalbert’s fight. I just love this tournament match, Yuuri’s POV remains as humoristic as ever but then we have some dark thougths mixed in, and then he turns Ue-sama in the next chapter and we have an awesome fight with magic and all the special effects we want. Also, Ue-sama mode goes crazy and angry as we never saw him, even cursing Adalbert’s whole family promising he’ll kill them all and wipe out an entire noble house from the map.
Novel 8 Chapter 3
“… So you defy my judgment?”
His jet black eyes glitter coldheartedly. So much so that if someone who knew the usual Yuuri saw him they would think it was a different person.
“Very well, von Grantz Adalbert. You and your relatives have moved to the top of my list of people to purge. In the name of the 27th Maou, I declare that all descendants of the Grantz family shall be eliminated.”
“Wait! My relatives have nothing to do with this.”
“A family that resents the king will only be a hindrance to my reign. Ah, but von Grantz, this is nothing for you to be worried about. You should simply wait on the other side. Here on this snowy stage, you’ll be the first of those with Grantz blood to be sent to hell.”
“Hey hey, isn’t your personality a bit different? I feel like I’ve been beat at my own game.”
Normal Yuuri’s not that cute and Ue-sama is even less cuter xD But that’s what made me fall in love completely with this guy. I remember the manga did a nice adaptation of this scene too, but the novel version will remain my most favorite.
What I love about this is the author doesn’t try to paint a perfect person but a realistic scene of a guy who has to consider killing to avoid being killed. And T-sensei does an awesome job to reinforce how good is Yuuri as a person when he doubts, which is normal because he comes from one of the safest countries in the planet and is not accustomed to confrontational or dangerous encounters at all. This is also why I say Yuuri here is dark, his life context is different than let’s say, a person from a 3rd world country who has survived many robbery attacks and is slightly pissed off about these situations and ready to fight and fuck all over the other party. Yuuri’s a young guy from a super pacifist country, but it’s been a long time since he landed in Shin Makoku for the first time and he already saw and experienced many really twisted things. He’s not naive anymore.
His development is hidden in details like this one, and he’ll progress more and more, starting to think and act like a real king.
I couldn’t help myself and use this as an example/excuse and try to catch the attention of curious fans that never read the awesome novel!Yuuri yet. If this picked your interest, please pleaseeee do yourself a favor and read the light novel version.
Also, Adalbert is a cutie pie with a sweet love story and his development as a character in the latest novels gives me life and lots of headcanons xD
Happy 20th year anniversary of this awesome series!

———————————————————————
You sighed and shifted uncomfortably as you watched your ex gassing up another girl. You guys only split up about a week ago and he's been with 3 girls so far.
You were so glad he was taking it much better than you were. You were happy he wasn't sitting at home eating tubs of ice cream and crying until 3am in the morning.
Sighing softly, you took Mina's hand wanting to leave the shop as soon as possible.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't think he was gonna be here I thought—"
"It's okay Mina, really," you say giving her a smile. But she could see right through it. Your eyes told a different story.
She huffed but decided to not talk about it anymore. Instead she ranted about a new lipstick she saw saying that it would totally compliment her skin colour.
You tried to listen, you really did. But all you could think about was how quickly Kirishima moved on.
Had our relationship meant nothing to him?
Was it all just some...joke?
Did he really love you?
You thought about the first time he told you he loved you. It wasn't at some romantic park, with cherry blossoms fluttering gracefully beside you as he declared his undying love for you.
It was when you first moved in to your small cozy apartment. It was tiny, cheap and had lots of room for improvement. To other people it looked like a filthy shack with rusty windows. You and Kirishima weren't different, but you guys had put the time and effort into renovating and making it look like a tornado had just passed through.
After all your hard work on the first day, you and Eijirou slept on dirty mattress that were set up in the master bedroom and shared a thin blanket that could barely cover the both of you. It wasn't the best, but you two made it work. It until a few moments later when he whispered in your ear that he loved you.
"Y/n? Y/nnn," a voice says snapping you out of your thoughts. You come back to reality seeing a hand move up and down in front of your face.
"Huh? What? Oh, yeah that colour would suit you," you say hoping that she wouldn't catch on.
"Oh sweet little Y/n, I stopped talking about that a while ago, I asked you how you were holding up," she states. You don't need to ask what she was talking about, you already know.
"Well, I've watched at least 4 romcoms and have gone through 2 buckets of ice cream and well on my way on my 3rd one, so not good," you say finally opening up on your whole situation. You give her a sad smile.
"Damn, I'm sorry about the whole thing, I've been trying my best to try and cheer you up," she says.
"But it looks like it's not working, so what do you wanna do next?" she asks determined. You chuckle softly.
"Mina, that's sweet and all but I don't need you to cheer me up, I'm fine," you say putting on the mask again. You're not sure why, you opened up about how you were doing, she already knows, so why are you putting the wall up again.
"No, Y/n, you literally just opened up about how you were feeling you can't just back out now," she says like she just read your mind. You bite your lip anxiously.
"It's fine," you say quickly.
"No it's—"
"Mina, it's okay, I'm okay, I was exaggerating," you say, you look into her eyes. She doesn't believe you. You could practically feel the sympathy radiating off of her. That feeling of wanting to help.
You didn't need her help. You didn't need anyone's help. You were okay, you were fine. You could get through this by yourself and it would a cakewalk.
"Thank you though," you say gently grabbing her hand. Mina gets this doubtful look once again, but she chooses to ignore it.
"Okay...well I've got to go now! Me and Ochaco are baking muffins for the class reunion tomorrow!" she beamed excitedly. Your face drops.
You had forgotten about the class reunion. Wonderful, more chances to see Kirishima with making out with his new girlfriend. You wonder which girl he would bring in this time.
"You do know there's a class reunion tomorrow, right?" Mina asks raising a brow. You subconsciously nod your head.
"Yeah...yeah! Mhm, I remember, can't wait so excited!" You trying not to panic.
"Okay...well I'll see you there! Bye!" She says and you two part your ways.
You wave and sigh to yourself.
Eijirou had gone to live with Sero and Kaminari. So you had the apartment to yourself. He was still in the process of moving out so you had some of his items.
As you went to get ready, a scarlet red card had been poking out of Kirishima's drawer.
"Nope," you say to yourself, "Not even going to touch it, that's so disrespectful to go through his things like why would you even—"
With no self control whatsoever, you rip the card from the drawer and open it. Your eyes shot up as you read it.
Our one year anniversary.
You think back to where you and Eijirou had your 1 year anniversary date. July 29th. He took you out to watch a beautiful sunset, he even took the time to grab blankets and food. After the sunset you two laid and watched the stars.
You feel a certain ache in your heart. Deciding to ignore it, you put the letter onto his drawer and crawl under the covers of your bed. A million thoughts running around.
The next morning
"You're going! And that's that!" Mina says struggling to pull you off of the bed.
"No! I see them all the time why do I need to see them today?!" You yell clutching onto the sides of your bed.
"They're your class! We learned how to be heroes with them! Now c'mon! Even Bakugo's gonna be there!" She shouts and with one last tug, manages to rip you off of your bed.
"Fine," you give up, "Only because I wanna see Bakugo," you huff. Mina yells in delight and goes to get you ready.
At the party (30 min in)
You made your rounds to everyone. Said hi to every single person in the room, except Kirishima. You gave him a polite smile but decided to not go any further.
Only half an hour in and you already want to leave. You grab Mina's arm and ask if you guys could go yet.
"We just got here! Let loose, grab some drinks, have some fun~" she days wiggling her eyebrows. Gross.
You roll your eyes and went to catch up with Momo.
(3 and a half hours in)
You finally got your chance to speak with Bakugo. He was a good friend, didn't push you away. That's actually how you got closer to Kirishima, and eventually how you guys started dating. Through all of it Bakugo had been there to support your guys relationship.
As the night went by you can't help but miss your UA days. Everything was so simple back then. You feel tears sting your eyes but you quickly blink them away, not wanting to seem vulnerable.
You feel that same ache in your chest again.
"Heyo, Y/n! C'mere for a sec," a voice called out. You turn to see Denki standing along with Eijirou and Hanta. You raise a brow and gulp but walked towards them.
"Yeah?" You ask. Denki's eyes shift over to Kirishima's and he awkwardly coughs.
"I'll be right back," Eijirou says and walks away. You raise a brow at Denki.
"Uh," he laughs nervously, "One second, hey Kirishima! What the fuck?" He yells and runs after him. You eye Sero suspiciously but all he does is shrug.
"He still loves you, ya know," he says casually. Your breath hitches but you force yourself to stay calm.
"Does he actually?" your voice was quiet. Almost inaudible, but thank god Hanta's a good listener.
"Yep, just because he's with all these girls doesn't mean he's not over you, maybe that's just his coping method," Sero shrugs as you and him watch Denki and Eijirou yelling at each other.
With your last bit of hope you whisper something to yourself.
"Maybe," and with that you hunt down Kirishima.
"This way, nobody'll hear us and I feel like we should talk in private," you mumble leading Eijirou around. You suddenly stop and drop to the ground, signalling him to come sit with you. He sighs, but follows.
"Let's talk," you say shortly.
"What do we have to talk about? I mean I've moved on, you've moved on—"
"How do you know that?" You interrupt. That shuts him up.
Running a hand through your hair you sigh loudly. You open your mouth to say something but Kirishima beats you to it.
"Look, I won't lie to you, I'm not happy, and by the looks of it you're not either," he says. You don't let him finish.
"You're not happy? But you're with all these girls and—"
"Because I didn't know how to get over you!" He yells. Your eyes widened a bit and you fall silent. Kirishima breaths.
"You're...am amazing person Y/n, incredible, you treated me so well and were there with me when I wasn't at my peak," he confesses. You nod for him to keep going.
"And you were so special to me, and when we broke it off, that hurt, a lot actually, I didn't think anyone could have that effect on me," he says smiling slightly.
"But I'm here, to ask you, if we could get back together?"
That was the question you had feared all this time. Simply because you weren't sure, you loved Kiri, you had spent so much time together and really have gotten to know each other. But on the other hand...maybe you were better off just as friends.
"Kiri I...I love you and you're so special and dear to me but, I feel like we should stay as friends," you mumbled just loud enough for him to hear. Your eyes immediately darted down to avoid his gaze.
"Please, just one more chance, one more chance and if it doesn't go well...I'll let you go," he sighs. You were overwhelmed.
"Look, there'll be other girls for you to date and get to know maybe if—" but you were cut off.
"I don't want those other girls Y/n, I only care about you,"
You didn't know why, but something about that line sparked that burning anger in your chest.
"Then why did you date those other people," You growled glaring at him slightly.
"Wha— to get over you!" He says raising his voice.
"Do you know how hard it was to lay in bed every night not having the person you love beside you?!" He screams. This makes you angrier.
"And you think that didn't happen to me? You think I just got over this whole breakup in one night? You think I don’t love you and get jealous every time I see you with those girls?!" You screech. Your minds blurry, all you can think about is fury, and yet you continue.
"Why don't you just go and make out with 15 girls to get over me huh?!" You shout with tears in your eyes.
"I can't keep kissing other people and pretend it’s you!” He yells. Your heart stops.
Suddenly, you can think clear. You can see clearer as well. You start to think straight and look at the situation properly. The burning feeling of fury starts to melt away.
"Eijirou..." you start but soon realize you can't finish that sentence. You look at him and find out he's crying as well. He takes a breathes before he speaks.
"Y/n...I don't know what I'd do without you," he states.
"And I'm sorry if I was being pushy, I'm sorry for a lot of things but I won't list them all out," he says chuckling a bit. You smile softly.
"I'm sorry as well, I should've seen the situation from your perspective," you murmur. It was then to realize, that you really do love Eijirou Kirishima. He really was the one.
"And I get if you don't want to get back together, I just thought I'd try but before I go, I just wanted to let you know that...you deserve so much better, you're a truly amazing person and any guy would be so lucky to have you, I just wish I was the one," he says smiling sadly.
Although you can't see it since he was turning away, you just know he was tearing up again. That's just how he's is, he's big softie. A softie that you won't let go.
"I truly do love you and wish you the best of luck in life," he says before turning to walk away. You panic and force your legs to move.
"Eijirou wait!" You say grabbing his arm. He turns around with hope in his eyes, that same sparkle that you've always loved. You smile softly.
"I'm willing to try again," you say. He gasps cutely before chuckling and picking you up to spin you around. He leans in for a kiss before hesitating.
"Can I ?" He asks. You giggle. Truly a gentleman.
You don't answer, instead you crash your lips onto his.
Through all of the tears, mistakes and downfalls, you two always seem to make it work out in the end. You push past those thoughts and pull him closer, glad to have him back.

I smashed the keypad multiple times with the handle of a knife before the metal finally fell. I pulled all the wires out before hearing the words ‘System Malfunction’.
If I hadn’t disarmed the alarm system already. I’d probably be worried right about now. I manually slid open the cell door.
That’s when she glanced up at me.
“Took you look enough,” She smirked.
“I could’ve gotten you out sooner if you didn’t get your ass locked up in solitary,” I tossed her the Black Cat suit.
“You know I still don’t know your name or what you look like,” She stated pulling the suit up “and I don’t think that's fair seeing as you know those things about me,” She cooed.
I pulled my mask over my face “It’s Y/N. Happy now?”
“Wow I always knew your voice sounded attractive, matches the face,”
“Okay, we can kiss my ass later but now we have about 2 minutes to get out before the guards come and get us,”
Leaving the building the same way I came in through the vent. You’d think they’d have better security. I was thankful they didn’t when we finally reached the car.
“Who’s car is this?” Felicia asked hopping in the passenger seat.
“Dunno,” I said, putting the car in the drive.
“Hold on tight,” I warned before ramming into the fence at full speed successfully knocking it down.
I was definitely not holding my breath that whole time. And I definitely was not doubting myself. Okay maybe I was, a little.
“I’m surprised that actually worked, none of this was planned at all,” I laughed in relief.
She laughed along with me
“Plans are for the ‘good guys’, if you’re smart enough you don’t need plans,”
“If that’s not the truth,” I replied turning onto a deserted road “You owe me again, I’m not counting, but I believe the score’s 3:1,”
She was right, you never need a plan. Second moral to the story is that even “villains” never work alone. I know I always talk that “every man for themselves” mess but everyone needs a support team. And for people who supposedly have no morals they haven’t betrayed me yet.
There are the bad guys and then there are the bad guys. The heroes didn’t seem to care which you were, they just wanted you locked up or dead and to get all the glory for it. I think it’s time one of us gets the glory.
“Ow!” I exclaimed, pulling myself out of my thoughts.
“Sorry,” Olivia muttered, “You need to be still,” She said, dabbing a cloth on my leg.
“Well it’s hard to be still when your leg is burning,”
I was expecting some jab or joke like normal but it was silent. She looked up at me and I could see the tears forming in her eyes.
“Y/N…” Her eyes drifted over my bruised and cut up body, her voice breaking.
“You don’t have to worry about me, I promise I’m fine,”
“How am I supposed to believe that when you won’t tell me anything?”
“I don’t tell you anything cause then you’d worry,”
“Well I’m already worried!”
The next day of school was very ordinary. Well as ordinary as it got when you were a kid who was wanted in multiple cities. My body wasn’t as sore as it was the day before, the bruises were clearing up, but honestly these new weapons were no joke. I’d seen them burn straight through buildings and a ferry now. Anyways like I was saying before today was ordinary, nothing exciting unfortunately.
Rich kids in Queens take homecoming a little too seriously. For the most part, I’m not complaining penthouse parties were fun. Rich white kids love their molly.
Harry Osborn was one of those rich kids. If we’re being honest I feel like he does coke on occasion. I don’t think he actually liked homecoming all that much seeing as he’s pretty new to our school. I just think he likes being able to brag about his parties and get wasted at parties.
One of those parties would be the one I was getting ready for right now.
Olivia walked into the bathroom and stood in the doorway. This bathroom was very modern as well as the whole house. Like an art gallery.
“Hey kitten,” I said since she wasn’t going to say anything.
“Hey,”
“Are you sure you don’t want to come?” I asked.
“You know how I feel about Harry’s parties,”
That I did, her dad and Harry’s dad seemed to have some sort of beef. That I didn’t care enough to get into. But Olivia's family took it pretty seriously. I guess I could say Felicia and Olivia’s family. It’s still weird to see them as siblings. It’s not surprising, just weird. Just a weird family of kleptomaniacs.
This isn’t something I say often but I looked really hot. Like really fucking hot. I had even winged eyeliner. A nice black tube top. A pastel pink tennis skirt. I had black thong type thing on, you could see the thin straps resting on my waist from above the skirt. It wasn’t like I was trying to get fucked or anything because I was not planning on being the slightest bit of sober.
I also had thigh high socks on but only because they could conceal a knife and I’d been on high alert lately. Just because I wasn’t going to be sober didn’t mean I couldn’t protect myself. It's a sort of muscle memory when it comes to knives, at least with me
If I wore this anywhere near the kids at my old school they’d probably call me a wannabe white girl, but those kids aren’t there and they have no part of my life anymore.
I just wanted to get so fucked up that I couldn’t think at all.
I couldn’t help but think. That’s all I could do lately. My brain wouldn’t slow down to let me breathe for even one second. I just wanted to breathe and go to bed. I still can’t sleep. At least now I have a valid reason. I don’t like talking about it because it’s not a big deal or anything, but today is the anniversary of-. It’s the day Rose died. No use sugarcoating it. It passes every year, no use being in my feels about it. Couldn’t help it though, every year I’d get sad about it for about 5 minutes until I did so many drugs that I couldn’t blink.
As soon I stepped into the house. I was hit with the buzz I hadn’t felt in a while. I missed it too. It wasn’t like Liz’s “party” her thing could’ve been fun but the whole headache, Vulture thing and lack of drugs made it suck.
Anyways who cares about that. I’d been at this school long enough to know who had molly. I’d either have to flirt with them or pay which I was down for either.
See I knew the chewlery gem rod I had attached to a necklace would come in handy one of these days. Now I wouldn’t bite my mouth.
Only problem is I could still think. Which wasn’t good. There was some sort of jungle juice on the table but I just went straight for a bottle of beer sitting on the counter, because I was shaking too much to pour anything.
Beer has to be the nastiest form of alcohol out there. It looks like pee, tastes like pee, it’s like they didn’t bother trying to mask the taste of yeast in it.
My body was vibrating in a good way as I started talking to people. By the time I’d made small talk with the third person around me. I’d finished the beer and I went back to the kitchen to fill a cup with some form of alcohol and soda I wasn’t picky. Harry must’ve had the same idea.
“Hey,” He said.
“Hey, where’s your groupie,” I said referring to the blonde that’d I seen around him earlier.
“You mean Gwen?” He said, bringing a solo cup to his lips.
“Probably,” I moved over grabbing the orange soda next to me.
“Why’re you wondering, jealous?” He asked being his signature flirtatious self. There was this one time that we… you know. But we were both drunk so it doesn’t count.
“You wish I was jealous,” I rolled my eyes “We both know you're the one obsessed with me,” I laughed.
“Yep, dream about you every night,” He joked back.
I took a sip from my drink squinting as it slightly burned my throat.
“I’m sure you do,” I headed out of the kitchen.
I could feel my brain slowing down as I started to calm. That was until Facts by Kanye came on. Then suddenly it felt like my blood was boiling in my veins and I couldn’t breathe and not in the good way. I made my way to the nearest bathroom and hoped no one was making out in there.
I opened the door and the coast was clear.
I splashed water on my face. When I looked in the mirror my pupils were dilated and my face was flush. Normally my skin tone masked the effects of blushing but not this time.
I wasn’t drunk. Maybe I was but I wasn’t enough. I was still laying on the bathroom floor because it was cold and felt good in contrast against my hot skin. I was going through my phone and landed on Peter’s number. I texted him because I was bored and I can text whoever I want.
you: helo
About thirty seconds later he responded, guess he was already on his phone.
P 😜🤚: Hey
you: do yuo like pengwings
pengns
fck
penguns
penguins
He read the messages and responded rather quickly
P 😜🤚: ?
You okay?
you: yesh im fine d you like penfuins
P 😜🤚: Are you drunk
you: no im nt drunk i m jst hPpy
P 😜🤚: yeah sure, where are you.
Before I could think, I clicked the option to send location. Even if I did think it wouldn’t have done much help. None of my thoughts were coherent. I was actually happy, like really really happy.
I was still laying on the ground when I felt the floor vibrate with the knock at the door.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“Peter,” The voice called out
“Come in!” I said in a sing-songy voice.
He opened the door slowly and looked around before looking down at me.
“Hiii,”
“Hey, what are you doing on the floor,”
I shrugged after slowly pushing off the floor so I wouldn’t lose balance.
“How’d you get here?” Since I know he couldn’t drive.
“I got an Uber,”
“That’s adorable,”
“What’s adorable,”
“You, you spent money on a ride just to come see me,” I pointed out, voice cracking halfway through the sentence as tears started to well in my eyes.
“Wait don’t cry, I’m sorry, did I do something? If I did sorry for whatever it was-”
“No you didn’t do anything, it’s just me,” I moved a hand off the counter I was holding onto for balance before wiping my face. I don’t cry, at least not willingly and definitely not in front of anyone else.
“Well I was going to…” He fiddled with his hands before continuing “I was going to ask if you needed a ride because I didn’t know if you drove here or not and you’re clearly drunk-“
“I’m not drunk!” I said. “I don’t drink how could I be drunk,”
“Okay, but like I was saying do you need a ride?”
I was going to say I didn’t want to leave yet but it’s not like I was doing anything but being pathetic and hanging out in the bathroom.
“Fine, yeah”
Peter opened his mouth like he was about to say something but a knock on the door interrupted. I immediately opened the door and grabbed Peter’s wrist running, for no reason except I felt like it. I bumped into a couple doorways
By the time we’d made it out by the pool Peter was hunched over trying to catch his breath.
I started running toward the water and I could hear a faint
“Y/N don't!” As I was running but it was too late seeing as I was already in the water. I laughed as I broke the surface as I floated on my back.
Peter came over to the edge of the water and squatted down.
“Y/N”
“And nothing hurts anymore I feel kinda free!” I sang splashing around in the pool.
“Y/N”
“We're still the kids we used to be,”
“Y/N!” Peter yelled, snapping my attention back to him.
“Hmm?” I asked.
“You need to get out the pool,”
“I don’t wanna,” I whined.
“Yeah I know but don’t you wanna go home?” He asked.
The last place I’d ever want to go is “home”
“No, get in the pool,”
“Y/N,” He said sternly.
“Pleaseee,”
“Get out the pool it’s cold you’re gonna get sick,”
“Fine…” I made my way begrudgingly to the steps of the pool.
Peter gave me the hoodie he was wearing so I was able to take my skirt and socks off. I put the knife I had in the hoodie pocket.
The last thing I remember is getting in some car.
Oh shit
I woke up in a room that I did not recognize. I swear to God if I got kidnapped again. I sat up quickly and hit my head on something. It was dark but there was a nightlight. Thank God if we’re being honest I’m scared of the dark. Long story I don’t wanna get into it.
I was definitely hungover, headache prominent. It only worsened when I stepped out the room and the light from the TV hit my eyes. I glanced over to Peter laying on the couch.
Oh yeah I forgot about that.
“Hey…” I whispered. He shifted a bit “You awake?”
He sat up and looked at me rubbing his eyes before bombarding me with questions.
“Did you- Are you okay? Does your head hurt? Do you need painkillers? Sorry that I brought you here and didn’t ask. That's really creepy but you were asleep and I didn’t want to wake you because you seemed tired. Again sorry it’s just I didn’t really even know where you lived and I was-“
“Oh my God, shut up!” I interrupted.
He looked stunned, blinking a few times.
“Sorry,” I held my hand to my forehead in exasperation. “Sorry, it’s just you- you were making my head hurt.”
“Oh I’m sorry,”
“No, I promise it’s not you, if it’s okay with you can I go back to sleep? I don’t really feel like going home right now,”
“Yes of course you can!” He sat up and pushed the blanket off of him before standing. “Wait I’ll be right back,” He said. I nodded before hesitantly sitting down on the couch.
He came back rather quickly with a glass of water and some painkillers. I mumbled a quick thank you before taking them.
I yawned, surprised that I was able to actually feel tired. Normally it took at least a few hours before I could sleep if I even got the chance.
“You can take the bed,” Peter informed.
“I just wanna stay right here,” I said lazily.
He tried to scoot over but I already had my arms wrapped around him so I squeezed him tighter. I looked up and his face was tinted red, smiling before I drifted off.
I felt light hit my face and I heard the squeak of a door. I sat up and slowly unwrapped my arms from around Peter. Walking over towards May.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know if it was okay for me to stay here I should’ve called and asked,”
“No, no it’s perfectly fine,”
“Okay…”
“He talks about you all the time you know,”
I smiled at her and she smiled back.
“Thanks for not killing me for being in your house,” I joked. “But I should probably get home anyway,”
I didn’t go home. Mostly because I don’t have an actual home. I didn’t go to any of the almost 13 places I’ve stayed at, at some point either. I went to some shitty hotel. I had enough money to stay for about a week. Which was great I could stay for all of homecoming week then I’d have to find somewhere else to stay before I got more money at least.
The last step for this day was go to Olivia’s house and get my stuff back. I made my way into the house through the back door, and sure enough she was sitting on the couch like parents in movies when they catch you sneaking out.
She eyed the bag in my hand.
“So you’re leaving?”
“I-“ I didn’t get the chance to speak.
“And you weren’t going to tell me, oh okay,”
“Olivia…”
“Where are you gonna stay?”
“I’m going back to my grandma's house,”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, again I’m sorry that I tried to leave without telling you I just-“
“Didn’t want to be interrogated?”
“Yeah…”
”It’s okay, I get it, come give me a hug,”
I moved giving her a hug and she mumbled
“You smell like booze,”
As soon as I got back to the hotel I turned on the movie Frozen. Which I knew was a bad idea because the movie always made me cry.
I ended up crying myself to sleep and by the time I woke up I was late for school. I slept for 18 hours straight.
If I was going to be late might as well have had a reason. So, I got smoothies.
“I love smoothies a lot, but banana is so so strong. Which like makes it pointless to put anything else in it. People should stop saying strawberry and banana smoothie because in reality it’s a BANANA and strawberry smoothie,” I took another sip of my smoothie.
“Damn bitch, you’re saying a lot and fast what’d they put in that smoothie,” Bri said examining the cup before turning to me again “And can I have some?” I laughed before lighty shoving her shoulder.
“Noo! Continue talking you were my reference for my excitement portrait,” MJ said flipping her sketchbook towards me “I’ve missed my one and only chance to see you happy,”
“Now I know you’re not talking, I don’t think anyone has seen you smile ever,”
I slid down the bench of the lunch table
“Whatcha watching Phineas?” I asked Peter. He quickly swiped out the app. “Was it porn?”
“No! Wha- What?”
I patted his shoulder “Relax dude, I was just messing with you,”
That was the last I’d spoken to any of my friends. In all actuality that was the last time I’d spoken to anyone besides the hotel staff. I hadn’t been to school since...what’s today? Wednesday. Well then I hadn’t been to school since 3 days ago. Which also means I haven’t eaten since a week ago?
Okay I know how bad that sounds but it’s not like I’ve been eating nothing. I just haven’t been hungry lately, I have had snacks though like goldfish and chips. I’ve just been too lazy to cook and don’t have the funds to cook. I’ve also been too lazy to fake a smile or whatever so I just haven’t been going to school.
However what I have been and haven’t been eating is the issue of concern here. It’s that alien shit from the Avengers a few years ago is so much deeper than anyone could have ever thought. I’d been in research mode for a while now. I call it the zone, anything you say to me will go unheard, I mean business when I’m in the zone. If I want something to happen it will.
“Okay so, I’ll start with the government flash drive. So the aliens that attacked a while back in 2012 were called Chitauri. So Loki had control of them and was using them as an army. Loki being Thor’s brother and the God of mischief,” I clarified.
''And Loki was attacking because he wanted to be king but his brother was king instead. I mean I think, I don’t really get that part. So there was this thing called the tesseract and it’s supposedly like super powerful. This branch of government called Shield doesn’t want Loki to have this so they keep, then the invasion ensues. This tesseract however is some space stone and Loki used it to bring in the aliens. It’s some sort of infinity stone whatever that means. Howard Stark found the stone in the ocean, because a Stark is always gonna be the one to fuck the world up when they think they’re helping. Then he and someone else founded Project Pegasus-”
“What’s project Pegasus?”
“I don’t really know but I know it stands for potential energy group alternate sources,”
“Oh, so it’s Shield that’s over this… Tesseract?”
“Exactly!” I clapped and the papers with all the information I printed from the flash drive rustled underneath me.
“What are you going on about?” Carmen asked. “Like what’s the bigger picture?”
“That’s the thing! I don’t know, this is like so covered up and coded that I can’t figure it out with information that I have,” I turned towards her “But I will, and that’s where your help comes in,”
“Y/N, when’s the last time you slept?” She tilted her head like those dogs in Minecraft when you have food.
“Last night,” I waved her off.
I looked down at the information I was able to find out about Kingpin since he was mentioned in the video my mom made for me. Apparently she worked for him for a while. So did Felicia but all she’d ever tell me was “He was an ass he did give me a gift I’m grateful for though,”. He had affiliations with everyone.
From what Black Widow released out unto the world he had connections with a Neo Nazi group called HYDRA which brainwashed people from what’ve heard.
Before I’d just wanted to take down the Vulture out of pettiness if we’re being honest, but now. Oh now? I knew I’d have to.
Another paper I’d printed from Kingpin’s affiliations caught my eye.
“Hey Carmen,”
“Hm?”
“Ever been to Vegas?”

Wrong - Finn Shelby
Request : “You know what we’re doing is wrong” with Finn Shelby please xx
Warnings : Swearing, family arguments
Prompt : “You know what we’re doing is wrong.”
A/N : If there’s bad grammar in the dialogue, it’s meant to be there. These kids (well, they’re 17) aren’t really well educated.
December 19th, 1925
The late winters air was crisp and cold, as you relaxed on the banks of the Cut, eyes scanning a book quickly, cigarette hanging from your lips loosely, careful not to disrupt the lipstick you wore.
You checked the watch you wore again - one gifted to you by Finn for your six month anniversary -and sighed audibly. He was, yet again, late to meet you. You tried not to be hurt. You realised that he was a Shelby boy , what that entailed. He had to help his family at all times, and you understood. Mostly. You stubbed out the cigarette, throwing it into the river.
Flipping open the compact mirror that lay place in your pocket, you gazed at your reflection, carefully wiping away the tear tracks that had been there all day. You sniffed, forcefully smiling at the mirror, convincing yourself you were good. You were fine. It worked a little.
“Love.” You heard an out of breath voice behind you, and turned, to see a slightly sweating Finn. He must have ran all the way here from the look of him. A burst of happiness hit you - it was hard to feel sad when you were with him.
“Y’alright?” You grinned your crooked smile, as he flopped down beside you, pulling off his jacket.
“Sorry I’m late. Aunt Pol wanted me to finish something up, and then I realised I forgot to give something to Arthur, and I couldn’t really explain why I had to leave so-“
You cut him off with a quick kiss, nearly brushing your fingers through his hair, before realising his cap was on, and you’d probably slice your fingers on the blades stitched into it (the ones you’d put there yourself, sewing under your bed sheets at early hours of the morning, lest your parents find what you were doing).
“S’alright, love. I was enjoying a bit of peace and quiet anyway.” You teased, pulling away, watching as he gave you that Finn Shelby grin.
“It feels like it’s been ages since I seen you.” He inched closer, kissing you more deeply than you did him, one hand supporting his sitting position, the other caressing your cheek. His fingers were calloused and scarred, no doubt from years of forgetting there were blades in his hat and pulling it off haphazardly.
You shrugged, as he pulled back a little, scanning your eyes, as you placed a blade of grass into your book as a marker, throwing it to the side.
“What’s wrong?” His voice was caring, but there was an undertone of who do I need to beat up.
“Nothing?” You spoke it like a question, like you had no clue what he was talking about.
“Your eyes give you away love. Either you’ve been taking some bloody strong drugs, or you’ve been crying, and since I never seen you touch even alcohol, I doubt it’s the first.”
You sighed, falling backwards, so you were laid down, staring at the fluffy clouds above you.
“I... it’s just my parents. It doesn’t matter.”
“It clearly does. What have they done this time?”
“They, um. They saw me out with Dotty the other day, and they don’t really like her, cause ... ” You trailed off, shrugging.
“They don’t like Dots? Since when?”
“Since she started dating your mate.” You mumbled, picking at grass.
He laughed disbelievingly for a second.
“So because she’s dating a Blinder they don’t want you having anything to do with her? Fuckin’ hell.”
“Pretty much.” You couldn’t look at him. You heard in his voice that he was hurt.
“Fuck, what would they do if they found out their daughter was dating a Blinder. A Shelby, too. Course, they’ve probably already got a nice suitor picked out for you, huh? One who has money that he hasn’t made through being in a gang?”
He had raised his voice - barely noticeably, but you could tell he was angry. Of course he was. Why didn’t you just not say anything?
“Finn.” You gently laid an arm on his arm, though you were a bit hurt by his words.
“I bet they’ll marry you off to a nice bloke, one who you can actually be seen with, you know. Not one that you have been with for over a year, and still can’t even meet his family in case word gets back to your parents. Not one you can’t hold hands with, or kiss, or do fucking anything with.” His sentence begins almost mockingly, but just transpires to anger and hurt, and a million other emotions.
You felt your lip tremble. How many times had you had this argument? A thousand felt close to the number. And there was never anythjng you could do to solve it.
“Finn, calm down. We’ve been through this, it’s only a couple weeks and we’ll both be eighteen, things will be different, you’ll see-“ Your voice was pleading, as you sat back up, just wanting to hug him tightly. But you knew he would just shrug you off when he was like this.
“You know what we’re doing is wrong.” He said quietly, looking at you. “I’m ... I’m making you risk your family for me. It’s not fair. But it’s not fair to me either. I just want a normal relationship. One I can tell people about. I want to fucking scream from the rooftops how much I love you, ya know. How much I love that you’re intelligent and can read, and how much I love the way your eyes light up whenever you see me. How warm and at home you make me feel. But I can’t. We can’t.”
Your tears started to well over. You didn’t know that he felt so hurt over this.
“I’d risk everything for you, Finnegan Shelby. Fucking everything. It’s not ideal. And I’m sorry. All I can say is in a few weeks it’ll be different. We’ll be adults. They won’t control me as much-“
“Hey, dont cry.” His voice was a bit croaky, as he pulled you onto his lap, and you leaned against his chest, feeling his calming, continuous heart beat.
“I’m sorry.”
“It just hurts. That your parents feel this way.”
“It hurts me too. I’ve given everything to you, Finn, this year, ya know? I’ve shared so many happy experiences with you. And it kills me that they can’t know about you. Can’t learn to love you too. Because you’re amazing to me.”
He sighed, was silent for a few moments.
“Just a few weeks.”
“Just a few weeks.” You replied, rubbing patterns into the backs of his hands soothingly.
“Then I can steal you away.” He joked, and you heard a grin in his voice. You snorted.
————————————————————
“Mum, Dad, I’m home!” You called through the house, pulling off your thin waterproof coat.
There was silence in return, and you furrowed your brow in confusion, as you wandered down the hall.
“Mum? Dad?” You called again, before walking into the litchen, and seeing them sat together at the table. They both wore angry, furious expressions.
“Sit down, please, Y/N.” Your mum was calm, but you felt the palpable air of fury around you. Your heart beat faster, trying to think of what you’d possibly done.
“What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” Your dad spat. You winced slightly. “Your brother was down the Cut today with a few of his friends, and you know what he saw, Y/N?”
You froze, trying to think of an excuse.
“He saw my daughter with a Shelby. A fucking Blinder!”
